On the subject of replacements. Sumrall is not gonna be at troy forever. We won't have to even pay Jimbo Fisher. We could pay him 200K save us some cash Yeah possible. But I want to win.

Never have been one to give my 2¢, but have read these threads on here for the past few years just to keep up, but i would like to say: As a recent alum who was lucky to play at Troy under Sumrall — we should be thankful for his time and everything he did for Troy. Call it a lateral move, call it chasing money, call it what you want — we all would take different jobs for a pay raise. If it happens, which it seems certain that it will, I trust that Brent Jones and Dr. Hawkins will put together a great group of prospects to fill the position. Troy isn’t a special place because of the head coach of the football team, it’s much more about the team itself and the community that supports it. For sure, Sumrall was always going to leave at some point. As long as the next head coach can keep the culture and the buy-in that we’ve seen the last two years, I like our chances.

That source is all the same one (Ross Dellenger). Pat Forde's reporting about our counter offer was after his initial report.

But I want to win. as much as I hate auburn there is a guy up the road who can recruit his A** of and would love an opportunity as a HC. He’s named after a vehicle…….or give me Mark hudspeth. But I rather all this nonsense go away and sumrall comes back and walks away next year as the first sunbelt team to make the playoffs. Iowa, Memphis, Florida A&M, Nevada is our ooc schedule, we want draw app state, JMU, or Marshall out of the east. Tulane on the other hand has a lot less coming back and a lot tougher schedule. Don’t listen to me I’ve done poured a wild turkey drink and just sitting back and holding on

Well. This won't be popular but being popular is not even low on my goal sheet so I don't care. It's my thoughts and mine alone and I don't care who likes or dislikes them. And I know that it is what it is and it isn't never ever going to change. Again, I don't care. I still have my opinion and a right to it. And I'm pissed. Not personally at Sumrall. But, I don't know. It feels like a betrayal and I can't help that that is how it feels to me. I'll have a much harder time giving a coach my support and loyalty. I'm sick of being rallied and excited over what's being built only to have them jump ship like it all didn't matter. So the next time I hear "rebuild the wall" or whatever, I'll be thinking "stay here and be successful and prove why I should be devoted but honestly, I don't trust you until then." I know it's a bit Don Quixote and I might as well fight a windmill but I'm just sick of it and all the hype just feels fake when you're out the door at your first chance. IDK, maybe because it's Tulane. This just feels like such a trash move. If it were KY or some serious P5 SEC power I thought was worthy of Sumrall it might be different but...Tulane? Similar to what someone said earlier, it does feel like you had a good thing of substance with a real relationship but on a whim decided to marry the ugly girl who you don't love but her family is loaded and so you'll be set for life...so you sold out.
Maybe I'll feel different in the AM but for now, I'm just pissed.

I know these coaches make huge money but $1,000,000 a year and live in Troy with a low cost of living? That's more money than any of us see in a year or even 10 years. Such is college football

No doubt a trash move and would be for money alone. He is grown though. He needs to run it by HCNB before jumping for a known decent at best program.

What about Greg Gasparato our DC? im curious about him also. Shiel woods was at Tulane. Did he follow fritz or if sumrall takes over keeps shiel on and let us keep Greg Gasparato About thirty minutes ago: "Sources tell @247sports that at least four coaches from Willie Fritz’s Tulane staff are expected to be hired at Houston — Slade Nagle as OC, Shiel Wood as DC, wide receivers coach Derrick Sherman and defensive line coach Gerald Chatman" ... to answer your question.

I’m sure he’ll take the whole staff with him just like Neal did when he left. It sucks. I’m pissed too. I thought we had one more year to ride the wave. I tried to enjoy every minute of it cause I knew it was short, just didn’t think it was this short.

Here's another scenario. We will have a new quarterback next year with little to no playing time learning a whole brand new system along with our defense learning a new system. Imperative that Brent gets his hire right again

If they stay 10 years we are mediocre with a good year and bad years sprinkled in. See Rick Stockstill.
