Bama mostly depends on Saban and his authority and connections... Texas and TAMU operate in a different universe with all their billionaires. UGA is fully focused on football and LSU is a corrupt program. Auburn, Arkansas, and Tennessee are backed by major donors but its not comparable to Texas/TAMU. UF has so much potential, not sure what the problem is…. Gator - IGS.* *Instant Gratification Syndrome. Same as 'Barn. I find that both accurate and humorous. I'm old enough to remember UF Gators before Steve Spurrier. During the Charlie Pell and Galen Hall years, UF was almost as a sure a win for SEC schools as Vandy is today. Spurrier changed all that, but before he got there, they were at the bottom of the SEC pile. For them to think they will have instant success is just funny.

During the Charlie Pell and Galen Hall years, UF was almost as a sure a win for SEC schools as Vandy is today. Spurrier changed all that, but before he got there, they were at the bottom of the SEC pile. For them to think they will have instant success is just funny. Spurrier enrolled at U of F under then Head Coach Ray Graves, whom i personally met several times. Though his 9-2 1966 season was the best Gator record to that point, they fell short in a loss to Ga Dawgs. During the Ray Graves years, "Wait 'Till next year" was the Gators' annual mantra, when Pell was hired the mantra became "Wait hell, now we got Pell". Agree, funny yes. The more things change there, the more they stay the same. Personally, I think Napier will eventually lead them to former glory given time, which their IGS doesn't compute. Though "Urban Legend' left his mark there, he left a culture that has since been hard to shake. Mullin didn't improve much and was not respected internally according to my mole.

I wouldn’t want to raise my little children in New Orleans so hopefully that weighs into his decision. He didn’t have kids when he was there before.

I think the two oldest, the twins, were born while they were in NOLA. Fuzzy memory here but the twins were in tow when Jon first arrived in Troy under HCNB. I recall either Jon or Ginny stating that NOLA was not a great place to raise the kids then.

His agent will get a call. Fritz was making $3+ million a year. Heard they could go up to $4 million.

We are paying him 1 million… can we counter offer? It might be a pay increase but it’s a lateral move.
He would be starting over at Tulane… one more 10+ win season at Troy and he’s going to a P5

SEC unless you are Bama, Georgia, and possibly FL, TN, TX, A&M or OK you aren't going to win it. Big 10 is Michigan, OH St, and possibly Penn St or Oregon, Washington soon. Big 12 is kinda of open now, PAC 12 is DOA, and ACC I think is where JS might end up because it's the only P5 kinda of even

Yes but when you are making $3-4M a year you can afford the best private schools, tutors, chauffeurs, etc. Take at look a Washington DC. none of our government officials send their kids to the public schools.

The commitment to an IPF at Troy was a huge move in the right direction. We will be fine. Troy > Tulane next season, write it down

If he goes to Tulane it’s 100% the money… lateral move. Both have the same realistic goals at the end of the day and both are top 5 G5 programs at the moment
Thing is if he wins another 10+ next year at Troy a P5 offer is coming… if he does the same next year at Tulane he’s likely there another year minumum.

I have a pretty good idea that HCJS's thoughts about TROY, leaving for another job, what it would take to lure him away, and what job it would take to do are thoughts that not more than 1 or 2 people (if that) on this board are privy too. If there is someone on here that does know his thoughts on these things, they will be as tight lipped about them as he is. Those are the kinds of things only shared with the closest of friends and those friends would guard those secrets closely. At this point, speculation about these details is just that, speculation, and is of no more consequence than all of the speculation about bowl destinations/opponents that has gone on for the past 3 weeks. Such speculation is good for entertainment and raising BP, but that's about it.

There are only two people in this world that will make the decision, Sumrall and the Mrs. And they are not on this board. But And like any decision in all of our lives, opinions change, outside forces sway viewpoints and conditions change over time. All coaches believe they can win anywhere and if you can make $4 million instead of $1 million doing it. It’s a long shot he leaves for this situation but never say never. (Neal Brown never thought he would ever coach at West Virginia but his kids will never have to work again if they don’t want to. But NB wouldn’t allow that anyway 😂) Whenever Sumrall leaves, good for him. He left Troy better then he found it.

I went on the coaching changes board on tigerdroppings and the Tulane boys are talking Sumrall and Tim Rebowe from Nichols. One guy said it is Rebowe and the details are being worked out. The Tulane job should be announced by Friday. I think Tulane is our only obvious threat. Oh yeah, the Tulane boys said that Sumrall told Duke no. This is all just internet chatter. www.tigerdroppings.com/rant/coaching-changes/

AAC is easier conference now. Playoff berth easier. And make $3-4 million. Never know….

I heard it live as well. Great interveiw. I will say this, when the time comes and he does leave, he will be working, recruiting until the private jet picks him up at Troy International. Then he will work for the new job.
