Moving it into a dark corner will not make the stink go away. In fact, causes it to grow. The quicker it is discussed and vented over in the open, the quicker it goes away. “… even while publicly acknowledging, and dealing with, an issue.” I acknowledged it needs to be dealt with publicly, but there may be some things said, or that need to be said, that Yosef, or 🚫, don’t need to be privy to. They’re going to have a field day with this as it is, we don’t need to give them more ammo. The weapon has already been drawn and is firing. No need to step in front of it and cause more damage. This will flame out quickly, if you let it air out. Start a new thread over there to discuss.

The slow drip of new details. Troy University needs to settle as quickly as possible. End this. Nothing like giving donations to pay off a lawsuit. This pisses me off.

Trojan Warrior, can this thread be moved to the Warrior sub board? I anticipate some discussion that we might not want the general public to have access to. Sometimes the family needs to have a private discussion, even while publicly acknowledging, and dealing with, an issue. Moving it into a dark corner will not make the stink go away. In fact, causes it to grow. The quicker it is discussed and vented over in the open, the quicker it goes away. Agree. Air it out. It's been under the rug for almost two years now, who knows why? Much has already been published, in detail, statewide for general public view. Just stick to the facts here and let the chips fall where they may. This too will pass.

Question If the admin knew about this allegation and of dips other alleged indiscretion , why did they have to buy him out? Is their any recourse there and will the NCAA come down on him! He seems to always step in $/!t and always come unscathed!

Always two sides to every story. Courts will do their job. www.cbs42.com/regional/unserved-jacksonville-state-football-player-faces-arrest-warrants-lawsuit-over-alleged-violence-against-former-troy-teammate/amp/More details. This would be absolutely devastating for Troy if this went to court, regardless of if one believes this kid should have been tougher and one want to protect the only coach still at Troy that is involved, just because one thinks he is cool. If Troy decides to put this in front of a jury and let it play out in court where every single bit of dirty laundry is aired, then the Admin are truly complete idiots. This would kill our program and stain the institution that we all have degrees from. This story would come national, the media love stories like this one. Plus a jury of our peers could go crazy with the damages and award astronomical dollars. For the love of God, settle this now before it’s too late. Troy is going to pay either way. No need to take the entire University down the tubes.

As it's been stated on this thread already, there are two sides to every story. One side is already in the news, the other appears to be headed to court. I don't disagree about the media and their love of these stories, but at the end of the day, the media is often times very wrong.

And in a perfect world we would get know each side. IMO, what has been presented is half true at worst. But as stated, it has been confirmed there is video of several incidents and witnesses. Again EVEN in a perfect world and Troy went to court and was found “not in the wrong” the damage has still been done. The money was spent and Troy’s name dragged through utter hell as a crap institution that protects deviants. Perception is reality and as you confirmed the media will promote over and over and over the bad sides of this story. Troy gains nothing by going to court, unless we have a mountain of absolute and irrefutable evidence. And you know we don’t.

This will be big news for another 24 hours or so then die down because another terrible situation, or COVID or Monkey pox will take over again. We will hear about this again when it goes to court.

They have confirmed video evidence. You said it, it will go away, I said that also, if we let it air out and settle. But why let it it return in October by going to court ? The further damage to our brand and our personal marketability will far out way any monetary settlement. In court, it’s not about whether your right, it’s what you can prove. Your a business owner, you ever have to take a reduced amount on an invoice, even thought you were “right” and provided exactly what you billed for ? You did because you knew it was better to get what you needed to. We are not squeaky clean on this one.

But that’s if we are squeaky clean in this situation. I won’t make you say it but we know we have some fault here. No way this kids story is 100% false. His alleged attacker has arrest warrants out from this situation and they have video. But for the thousands upon thousands of employees and alumni of Troy University you have to take the reduced amount and live to fight. No good options, just level of bad.

Bottom line, for those of us who bust our behinds to make a living and somehow find some discretionary funds that we choose to send to TROY University, this feels personal. I, for one, am both angry and distraught that we find ourselves here today. On September 3, I’ll park my rear end in front of a TV and watch, with anticipation and excitement, our beloved TROJANS battle Ole Miss. Today, however, that anticipation and excitement have been not placed on the back burner, but have instead, been pushed off the stove.

Does anyone actually believe the university is surprised by this and isn’t way ahead of all the news reports? Doesn’t matter. It’s current news for vast majority of alumni, their employers, their families, future potential students, future potential and current athletics, their families, university employees, etc. and etc. If Troy was 100% innocent, it MAYBE worth the fight of the avalanche of bad press and future damage. But Troy is not clean. Arrests have been made, videos subpoenaed and submitted in a lawsuit. Nothing is worth the extra damage this will cause to fight. You gain nothing going to court. We just will lose more.

I know this much.
The university will do what’s right for the university. Might not be what anyone wants nor agrees with but what happens will happen in an attempt to protect the university and protect against futures incidences of this nature.

Does anyone actually believe the university is surprised by this and isn’t way ahead of all the news reports? This lawsuit was filed July 29, the university has known about this for at least a month, so yes, they are ahead of the news reports. For most of us, however, we just heard of this less than 24 hours ago. I'm willing to go out on a limb and say that wen the university was first served with this lawsuit, the school and athletic administration was just as much caught off guard as we have been...I'm sure they felt the gut punch. If that's not the case, then what it says about the respective administrations is too bad to contemplate.

Keep in mind, anyone can file a lawsuit, with or without the help of an attorney, but only those lawsuits where a plaintiff has standing will be heard by the courts.

So you're saying the university will fight the suit and challenge him to show standing? No understanding of legal-ese here. Playing with fire. Why do we want this PR nightmare to drag on and on ? A judge, in Troy no less stated their was enough evidence of this kids attacks to issue multiple arrest warrants. Doctor statements, videos, witness statements, emails. We do Not want to go down the rabbit hole….Then more questions will be asked by media, employees, students, recruits. Is their video of the poolstick incident? If yes and erased, why was it erased ? Who erased it ? When and what to the AD know ? Any corespondence between the Hawkins and when ? Did the university have an discussions with the police? Etc. etc. Yes, there are two sides to the story. As usual, the truth is probably in the middle. This kid will have done some actions that the university can present against him. But how who win in a fight of perception and reality between the sides that both did wrong ? This kid or the university and its coaches ? Troy loses. Even if we won in court. Do you really want HCJS and the players have this hanging over their heads during a long drawn out court battle where it’s drip, drip drip of information ? Answering questions all season ? And into recruiting? You gain nothing by going to court. End this Clean this mess up no matter who gets run over. The obvious lack of control by this administration has already tarnished the great institution that I love. I’m pissed.
