He's in the top 3 for the Kansas State job, and their AD has already interviewed with Brown and came away "impressed". The last 24 hours are starting to show bad signs for Troy. Kansas State is where Koenning played football also, so most likely he will be gone as well if Neal Brown goes.

Chris Klieman is still likely #1. He’s the current North Dakota State Head Coach. Current Kansas State AD was the AD at North Dakota State from 2001-2014.

I think Klieman would do great there.

I thought the North Dakota State Coach backed out.

I hope he did not back out and I hope he takes the job.

NDSU didn't look to good against Colgate. Maybe they withdrew the offer

Kansas... brrrr. If CNB takes the K-State job it is where his career will end. You can't win in football in Kansas. It will be 4 years and out and he will be an OC somewhere in FCS.

I thought the North Dakota State Coach backed out. That was Seth Littrell. North Texas Head Coach.

Also, I would make damn sure I made at least 50% more than Les Miles. If State won’t pay it, they don’t want to win. It’s a bad move unless you can make enough to live off forever.

Would be ironic if he came back to Troy afterwards I don't think he would be on our radar. Here's the deal... the spread works in G5 because there is not a lot of power football. It's bubble screens and speed. It works with Leach in the pac-12 because all of those schools are lettuce eaters and weak. It won't work in the Big 12 as long as there are meat eaters like Texas and Oklahoma. Take a look at K-State's 2019 schedule and show me where there are more than 4 wins. That's generous.
August 31 Nicholls State Manhattan, Kansas September 7 Bowling Green Manhattan, Kansas September 14 at Mississippi State Starkville, Mississippi September 28 at Oklahoma State Stillwater, Oklahoma October 5 Baylor Manhattan, Kansas October 17 (THURSDAY) TCU Manhattan, Kansas October 26 Oklahoma Manhattan, Kansas November 2 at Kansas Lawrence, Kansas November 9 at Texas Austin, Texas November 16 West Virginia Manhattan, Kansas November 23 at Texas Tech Lubbock, Texas November 30 Iowa State Manhattan, Kansas

His wife and kids love Troy and he needs one more year to have a "break out" season, so he can get better offers.
Going to K-State would not be a smart move in my humble opinion, but with that, a dollar and some change you can get the worst cup of coffee you ever had.

Boosters at K STate appear to not want an FCS coach - which has pushed NB to forefront per reports Agree that this is not a good move for CNB

On the other hand, let's be realistic here. Even with a breakout year, the real big schools would be out of reach for CNB.
PJ Fleck left WMU for Minnesota, Brohm left WKU for Purdue, Fedora to UNC, etc
Currently CNB can hope for HC jobs at schools like K-State, Texas Tech, Purdue, etc and this will not be any different next year.
Being successful at K-State might cause top programs to look harder at him, however. They could argue that being HC at a P5 school and competing in the Big12 is a strong predictor for success at top SEC, ACC schools. Programs like Auburn, Texas A&M, South Carolina, etc might never call and offer him a job otherwise. Even offers from schools similar to Ole Miss, Miss St, etc is probably unrealistic at the moment...

(Like a lot of whacked out boosters / fan bases at other schools)

Neal has his old Texas connections and while not a great way to do it there are tons of JUCOs in Kansas. Sure lots of things with those guys but at least near by and unofficial visits etc. At least a potential way for KState to contend with some other guys including the occasional SouthEast kid from his contacts here. Hope is does not happen but this is a real possible. Remember KState not long ago was a top ten program and NB is a good coach and Vic is an outstanding D coordinator.

Have to recruit Texas in the Big 12. Trouble is he'll get the table scraps from OU and Texas. He'd be better off homesteading at Troy. Just my opinion
