Hi Trojans Fans, I'm living in Boston, MA and thinking about coming down for the game on Sept 1. Any suggestions on best place to fly into (assuming Montgomery), places to stay, eateries, etc? My feeling is that this game is going to be very similar to last year wherein it will be close and decided in the fourth quarter. If you would like to chat with some Bronco fans like myself, I hang out on www.broncofans.net and I'm a mod there. I started a thread for the game already: www.broncofans.net/topic/584-official-troy-trojans-game-thread-september-1/ Enjoy your Independence Day!

I started a thread for the game already: www.broncofans.net/topic/584-official-troy-trojans-game-thread-september-1/ Enjoy your Independence Day! Welcome. I hope you find that your visits to Troy and our board are enjoyable. I think you'll find most of us here are reasonable and knowledgable fans. You'll find most of us know as much about G5 programs as P5 programs and that we love our TROJANS. While we hope to beat the Broncos like a red headed step child come September, we respect what your program has accomplished and hope the feeling is mutual. As for travel and game day, a flight into Montgomery coupled with a rental car to Troy is your best bet. There is a Courtyard by Marriott and a Hampton Inn at the intersection of US 231 and Wallace Dr, which is the main road into campus. These aren't the cheapest accommodations around and may be full already, but they're worth checking into. They are less than 2 miles from campus and the University provides a free shuttle to take you from this location to the game and back. The shuttle does run a route, so it will be a 15-20 minute ride if you have to make the entire loop, but it's really convenient. Once on campus, most any tailgate crew would be happy to welcome you. A group of our posters put on a good party behind the Alumni House, directly across the street from the stadium and they are noted for inviting visiting team fans to join them. If you want more info about this. speak to Hemi Man, you'll find him hanging out here most days. Now, as to eateries, Crowes is the place to get fried chicken, Hooks is the place for Bar b Q, The Half Shell Oyster Bar is the place for oysters and really good fried shrimp. There is a new burger joint in town called Cook Out, but I haven't tried it so I can't recommend either that you try it or avoid it. All in all, I think you will find our place laid back and an enjoyable place to visit and, except for the loss you'll take back to Boise, the trip should be enjoyable. Once again, welcome. HAVOC! And let slip the dogs of war!

To add to what Bubba said there is also a Best Western a little further up 231 that is nice. As far as Restaurants go you can’t go wrong with Preston’s, Sips on the Square, along with all the others previously mentioned. If you’re into Mexican there’s nothing better than Valencia’s Taqueria. On Gameday you’re more than welcome to come by our tailgate at the alumni house. It’s right across the road from the gate you will enter to go to your seats. We start early and there’s always plenty of food.

Check with First Presbyterian Church. Located on the corner across from the stadium and tailgate terrace, they sell season passes to park on their property. Last year it cost $75 and you are given a pass which is required to park there, so it’s a guaranteed spot. They usually begin to sell them the week after July 4, so I’d call Monday. It’s whete I park and it’s closer than all but 1 of the donor lots.

Another option would be to fly to Dothan.
The airport is well North of town and you would miss all that traffic from Montgomery or Dothan. Maybe spend the night in Ozark and make the short drive to Troy the next day.

That is an option. There is a good chance that if there are no quality rooms remaining in Troy, there are still plenty of rooms in Dothan, and the newest, best lodging is on the north side of town, not far from the road to the airport. It would be wise, if considering that to evaluate total trip cost as the cost of flying into and out of Dothan is, at times, substantial.

Good evening Troy fans. Another BSU fan here. We are coming in from Idaho for the game and I also have a couple of questions which I hope you can help me with. We are coming in on a 6 day southern tour from one of the travel agencies in Boise, so our hotel and transportation is all taken care of. My main question is tickets for the game. BSU has tickets to purchase for the game, but just like Albertson Stadium in Boise, visiting fans tickets are usually not the best. From what I can see in the seating chart our seats are right behind the Boise bench. If these seats are like ours at home, you can't see much of the game unless it is right in front of you. I have been watching your board for the last few weeks to get the feeling if the game will be a sellout or if we could walk-up and buy tickets the day of the game. I know single game tickets go on sale Aug 1. Do you think there will be tickets to purchase then? I would not care where we sit as long as it is alittle higher in the stadium, so we can see the whole game. Also, the best experiences of ooc away games is visiting with fans from the home team. We can talk with Boise fans any time, so we would love to be surrounded by Troy fans to talk football with. Also, we see kick-off is set for 5pm. What to you think the humidity will be like? Just wondering. Any help here would be greatly appreciated and go broncos.

Just wondering. Any help here would be greatly appreciated and go broncos. Vistors are typically seated in Sec 103. Those seats will be around the 10-20 yd line. As long as you aren't placed in the lowest 7-8 rows, visibility shouldn't be an issue. The east, south, and west concourses are all open and tons of people never use their seats, they stand on the concourse. All indications are that this game will be close to, if not, a sell out. Single game tickets don't go on sale until August 1, so it's hard to know for sure at this time what final numbers will be. Considering the recent success we've had, the opponent, and the fact that we will be opening our new North Endzone seating and football facility, anticipation is high. I wouldn't take a chance on walk up tickets. You can always buy tickets from our ticket office, which will work with you to get you the best seat available. As to heat and humidity, expect temps at kick to be around 90 degrees with humidity in the 60%+ range and climbing as the game wears on. There typically is little to no breeze after sundown for the early season games. It will be oppressive. Wear shorts and the coolest shirt you have. As we get closer to game day, Buzz Lightyear's weather aardvark will begin providing updates, so check back. All that said, it should be a blast. Get in the stadium early (40 minutes prior to kick) and enjoy the pre game show. We look forward to having you join us.

Bubba the Trojan, Thanks for the info. I don't know how to add your response to my questions to this post, so this is going to show up as a quick reply again. Sorry. Again though, thanks. I think we will hold off til 1 Aug. and try for the best seats available. I have been watching your stadium upgrades for the last several months and it looks like it is going to be very special place to play. We are very privileged to be the team you play to kick-off the new additions. It should be an electric atmosphere to say the least. We are so looking forward to arriving a day early so we can enjoy the southern hospitality that we have heard so much about. As said earlier, thanks for the info. If you have any questions about our team, I would be happy to try and answer them for you. Can't wait til 1 Sept.

Thanks for the helpful info and friendly reply Troy fans! I want to also express that almost all the Boise State fans I know have a deep respect for your program and we're looking forward to having our school match up with yours on the gridiron one more time. I hope I can make it down for the game -- would be great to take in some of that Southern hospitality. Lastly, please feel free to visit the broncofans.net forum for questions, comments, and light-hearted banter.
Best,

Hook's is one of the best BBQ Restaurants you will ever go to. The Camp Stew is amazing. I haven't been to the Cookout in Troy yet but everyone I've ever been to as been great. Also Cookout is open very late. Julia's on 231 South next to Dairy Queen has a great breakfast buffet. I always park at the Troy Wesley Foundation at 203 Easy Street, Troy AL. 36081. Not sure yet what time she'll open the lot yet and the cost is only $10 that goes to a great organization. Just a side note if you plan to drink at your car then this might not be the best spot to park. Normally you can find some street parking in front of Frat Row.

Welcome Boise fans to the board!! I second everything Bubba had to say including the excitement building not only to the season but to the soon to come weather updates by my new weather animal (they do other predictions too.) Norm the weather aardvark....his nickname is "The Proboscis of perpetual prognostication" thus his name is Norm. Anyway I digress, welcome Broncho's and look forward to good game.

She said they are getting swamped with requests so if parking there is of interest to you, I’d call ASAP. They’ve never had take names before but it sound like a sell out.

All Boise fans are welcome and the tailgate with Hemi and myself as long as they bring that delicious huckleberry vodka we sampled up there last year.
That stuff almost made me walk away from bourbon forever!

The company website says it's available at a liquor store in Dothan. If so, you need to sample a bottle. It is pretty great, and this is coming from a guy that hates vodka.

My local liquor store near Perdido Key has the good stuff. I'll have at least one bottle of 44 North Mountain Huckleberry Vodka with me on September 1st. It's $28.99+ tax. Let me know if I need to bring more.
Surf Report: We have a sunny and hot day out here on Pensacola Beach. Air temp is 82, water is 84, wind is blow 8-10 mph out of the WSW. Surf is running 2-3' with larger sets expected later today.

BSU fan here and to be honest, this is the first time I have heard about this book. I have no idea who the author is or what his connection is to BSU. Again honestly, I am more excited about the game than the book. We are coming in a day early so we can really get into the game atmosphere. I can tell from the previous threads that it is going to be electric. I read the aardvarks predictions earlier on another thread and the prediction that has me worried the most is the humidity and how our team will handle it going into the 4th quarter. I was at the Louisiana game 2yrs ago and we handled it pretty good, but the kickoff was at 11 am to offset the humidity. As I remember, we were pretty deep at most positions and done alot of subbing to try and handle it. Again, we are pretty deep on defense, only losing one starter, VanderEsch, to the Cowboys in the first round. Our 2s played alot last year and we have several rs freshmen this year who should also see the field alot. My concern will be the offense. We have all the potential to be really good on O, but that doesn't mean much when you put the potential up against a really good defense and defensive coordinator, which you have. It is going to be a great experience for us and I can't wait for kick-off. My prediction is BSU by 10 in a relatively low scoring game. Naturally, thats a homer prediction and can't wait to visit with you. Go Broncos...
