All of this banter will be forgotten after the TMTDM rises from the ashes on Saturday in Athens.
Pruitt will dance out of sacks, find receivers running free and put points on the board. The Law Firm of Burks, Chunn and Franklin will run roughshod threw the UGA defense.
Mark Wilson will pop Gurley in the mouth on the first play of the game, and Gurley will tell Mark Richt that he doesn't want to play anymore.
Troy wins 27-24 as Ryan Kay booms a 52-yard field goal as time expires.
Why? Because why not. We have hit rock bottom and the only way to go from here is up.
Feel free to drink the Kool-Aid with me.

We are pretty low but not at bottom yet. This thread is proof I generally agree with you... but I firmly believe that we are as low as low can be. I'm not sure of this, but I don't know of any other FBS teams to lose to FCS this year. And we're not talking North Dakota state-good, either.

The football team and SOTS could engage in hand to hand combat, Thunderdome style after the half time show. Each side claiming the proper respect was not shown by the other. Would be entertaining from my seat but also propel the program to new lows.

At this point in the season I'm afraid to drink any kool-aid offered. That's what Jim Jones used at Jonestown.

Kool-aid mixed to half a ratio with everclear will lead to thoughts of delusion including thoughts like TROY will put it together by Saturday.

This morning, I remembered why I don't listen to John and Barry for Troy news. Barry was funneling the koolaid between koolaid keg stands.
"But we don't have nice facilities, but our coaches don't make enough"...
I'm glad we had this cathartic start to the year so that at some point our downward spiral into the abyss of mediocrity ends and we can finally work on getting tho program back on track!

You don't respect the opinion of a man who's face to face with players and coaches in those facilities multiple times per week?

Yes, but then that opinion is highly discounted since he is not independent from the coaching staff, draws employment from Troy, etc.
I also saw us get blown out by UAB (which had a new coaching staff start with much less this year at a team that has no funding support) and lose at home to Aibilene Christian (aren't their coaches just parents that volunteer?). We finally have examples that make all other arguments for the status-quo (or swap out assistant x) invalid.
The success we did see in the last ten years was largely driven by the leaders we had in Koenning and Franklin during their respective tenures. We have had limited leadership otherwise.

Shocking that's exactly what I've tried to tell people on these boards for years. Facilities are and always will be a huge part of college athletics. By the logic on here Troy should have never beaten OSU, Missouri, or Miss St. I think I'll have a beer.

I know we need a new locker room. I just get sick of it being used for an excuse to why we can't win or recruit. The fact is we got beat by a team with a 8,000 seat stadium, I'm sure a locker room no better than us and a box truck to haul their gear . Maybe if Troy put in half as much effort recruiting the hotbeds of Florida, Georgia, Texas and other places as they do complaining about facilities and recruiting Itawamba JC maybe this would be a non issue

Let's say we have a hotshot quarterback visiting the Troy campus. For the sake of argument let's say he is from Florida and spends a lot time with his grandparents in Georgia and Texas. There isn't enough room in the coach's office for his family to come in and sit down. The stadium isn't as nice as places he's played as a HS qb and the cup someone gave him a Coke in smells funny. What about Troy right now makes a kid want to come here and play?

What about Troy right now makes a kid want to come here and play? If the hot shot quarterback did come here? Who would coach him? Who would coach his linemen? Who would coach his defense? We do not have a "Jimmy's and Joe's" problem, especially when it comes I losing to UAB, Duke, and ACU!! We do have continued problems around coaching related issues! "Score more points" is not exactly a coaching lesson.
