Disappointing end to the season. I’d still fire Coach Cross if he doesn’t win the Sun Belt next year 💯 No thanks. Fire him so we can go back to 7-win and 10-win seasons again under someone else? Because you know that will happen. It's what happens to most mid-major schools at our level. Look at what UTA has been doing ever since they fired Scott Cross, all because they "wanted to get to the NCAA tournament annually". Firing Scott Cross will result in copious amounts of regret after a few years.

Well... Troy DID have a chance to win the tournament.
The players didn't look remotely locked in. Texas State has now wanted it WAY more than Troy two times in a row, and it's been obvious.
A lot of dumb fouls, terrible passing, and lack of awareness on rebounds.

Why does Troy look so terrible against an awful Northwestern State??
Troy has only mustered 5 total runs in two games, against a team that was 2-7 and has been giving up a lot of runs against everyone they've played. The Trojans look terrible.

Troy men's tennis is back in the ITA Top 75 rankings for the first time since 2015.
Troy (11-2) upset #53 South Florida this past week, which is what helped propel Troy to a #62 ranking currently.
It's setting up for a showdown with #41 Old Dominion coming up in one week. Whoever wins that match will have a great shot at winning the Sun Belt title and getting to the NCAA Tourney.

Troy still has a chance for a 20-win season... which is WAY OVERACHIEVING after only returning five players from last year.
If 20+ wins happens, Troy will be the only team in the SBC with three 20+ win seasons in a row.
That's a huge accomplishment.

Troy finished dead last.
Remember when Troy used to have a stellar Track & Field program? And they dominated the Gulf South Conference for years... now it's just dust in the wind.

I haven't seen many teams play harder than Troy this year... and ASU definitely went harder. They seemed laser focused also.

And we thought Sumrall leaving for Tulane was dirty...
Whewwww... this one takes the cake. Not only did Shawn never establish his residencey in Atlanta, but he left the program for a TE Coach position where his family was still living. AND... he left in the middle of spring practice.
That's rough. But it's a perfect opportunity to pursue a quality HC that can take Georgia State to the next level. Georgia State and Scott Frost or Rich Rod sounds like pretty good fits.

The best basketball I’ve watched at Troy since I started going to games Yep... and possibly the most athletic team across the board that I've ever seen at Troy... it's unreal.

I hope Brent Jones, Scott Cross, and the entire athletic department promote the crap out of this.
We mainly need to get the students out for this. Do another t-shirt giveaway. Do free food. Offer prizes. Anything to get the students to come out in large numbers.

Anyone else going to be at the GSU Convocation Center tomorrow to support our guys??
Getting another road win against a scrappy Georgia State would be huge.

JSU beat a 6-6 Louisiana in the New Orleans Bowl, and they now think they're world-beaters.

Is this a good hire for OC?
If he's also coaching QB's, we're in good hands. Sean Reagan has done a fantastic job with QB's.
I wonder if Goose Crowder likes this hire?

If you fire Scott Cross, this is what will happen:
* A coach will be hired who starts losing every year.
* A coach will be hired who brings the same results as Scott Cross.
* A coach will be hired who takes us to the NCAA Tourney and is hired away by a bigger school quickly, and we're back at square one.
The chances don't work in Troy's favor if Cross is let go.

I’m happy with 5-2 SBC, but 1-7 on the road is the worst I’ve seen in the last 20 years of Troy basketball. I’m trying to be optimistic that we can change course on the road, but we’d be a .500 team at this point if we hadn’t already played 3 glorified high school teams. I think Coach Cross is a good coach, but it’s hard to win consistently when you have to bring in 7+ players year after year. If I was ADBJ I would look to make a change if we don’t win the Sun Belt by next season. I feel like some of you guys don't realize what your asking for... You want to get rid of a guy who has had two straight 20-win seasons, and currently has this team at 11-9 (5-2) and OVERACHIEVING. It's hard to find HC's that consistently win. Just ask UTA after they fired Scott Cross when all he did was win. They'd take him back in a heartbeat. Geez, half of the SBC would be THRILLED to have the results we've had the past three seasons.

Ho not booing failure...Ho booing being satisfied at finishing mid-pack year after year. It's been pointed out numerous occasions, this team can compete at home but wouldn't win the GulfSouth on the road. That UAB-Mobile game was just brutal to watch. I only agree that I'd like to see more portal players brought in. I still think Scott Cross is good for Troy basketball. He's re-established some basketball culture that became non-existent under Phil Cunningham. I'll still take the 20-win seasons every year and finishing in mid-pack of the SBC, instead of the stupid 8, 9, and 10 win seasons that became the norm for so many years.

That sucks for South. Difficult time to lose your HC. Something tells me they're going to hire Major Applewhite as HC. Heck, I think Willie Simmons would do well at USA. Scott Frost still available?? Scott Frost and Hugh Freeze in the same state?
Last thing I need to hear coming from South Alabama Football social media is "There is a Frost coming to South Alabama..."

Does anyone know if Theo Seng is alright? I saw where he got injured toward the end of the USM game, and he had to be helped off the court.
I'm hoping it was nothing serious.

Genuinely asking. I don't see much data to work off of.

This team is actually more fun to watch than last year's veteran team.
There's so many different players that can score, and they all seem to be gelling pretty well.

I'd say that's the strategy every time.
We've had a lot of players that were originally P5 transfers that didn't get playing time, got to Troy, and became big-time players here. I feel like they work out more often than not.

Anyone want to dig up his offensive numbers as an OC HC record isn’t very impressive but it’d be interesting to know how his offenses performed 17ppg in his first year at Syracuse. 27ppg in his second year. Not great, but the improvement sticks out to me. Syracuse is not an easy place to win or recruit talent.
As a head coach at WMU, his offenses were in the mid 30's in ppg. He had one year later in his tenure where his team scored 42ppg.
Troy scored 26 ppg and 30 ppg under Sumrall and Craddock.
Don't forget... Joe Craddock's offenses at Arkansas when he was OC there were terrible... and his Troy offense wasn't that great either. It was good enough at getting chunk plays, and our defense helped give us short fields. Besides that, Craddock didn't exactly blow the doors off with his playcalling.

We just got a big commitment today from a former UNC 4-star linebacker, Rara Dillworth.
He was a unanimous 4-star recruit across all recruiting services, and was rated the #8 LB in the nation out of high school. He transferred to UNC, and then to ECU. He was a starter at ECU this season.
