I just happened to be in New Orleans playing in a softball tournament so I wore my Troy stuff all weekend! I even saw some people down in the French Quarter wearing Troy stuff.

I was happy to get a 25% discount and free shipping! Yep, that's a nice extra if you are an Alumni! 👍🏼 I am an alumni, but I think it applies to everyone that gives their email address. The email said 25% for one item, but when I used my code it took 25% off the entire order. Yay!

Just curious - Why did Chunn not get the ball much in the first half? It seems like they were giving the ball to the Memphis transfer. I finally heard Thompson's name in the second half. It is almost like they forgot who brought them to 10 wins last year.

Thank you sports information for responding. So, can we get the 2018 coaching staff up and running then so the pitching coach is listed on the softball page?

Do you really think the head coach updates the website? This isn't D-III. Nice try, Stet. But this ain't a Mullins thing. Also, the 2018 team hasn't even began OTAs. Maybe yall should ease up. Dude - I know that Mullins does not update the website - Sports Information does it. My point is that if the #1 assistant football coach left to a conference rival - App State - his name, contact, and profile information would be down in less than 24 hours. I just want the same care provided to the softball team. I was just hoping that someone in Sports Information would perhaps take this up as an initiative. "Yall" should not ease up unless you want me to accept mediocrity.

Can someone please get someone to update the coaches on the softball website? There are college recruits looking for people to contact and we have an assistant coach on there that left for App State and the new pitching coach isn't even listed. It makes us look like we are behind the times and that nobody cares about the softball program.

I am super excited for Annie to join the team! The list of previous winners of that award turned out to be some of the best players in NCAA history. There is hope. Now, get her a top notch pitching coach for the next 4 years!

I just saw an article that Texas State has added two softball transfers to their roster. One from Alabama and one from Arkansas. Can our coaches please be on the lookout for some SEC transfers or any Power 5 for that matter? We need pitching help! I also saw that Whitney Jordan for Auburn was not returning for her last year of eligibility and she has a release. She is from Alabama and our SS graduated.
On a side note, has anyone heard anything about getting a new pitching coach? I think contracts end on June 30.

I can't believe they left out Coastal Carolina and they didn't even include them in the first four out.

So, we had one injury to a really good player and they ended up this bad. I guess I just thought they were going to be better. I haven't had a chance to look at all the stats and analyze, but didn't we have good pitching last year. What happened to those guys? Are the JUCO players that are transferring in better than the freshmen coming in?

This is the first time I have watched Troy baseball this year and they look terrible. What happened to this team? Injuries?

I want Jimmy Kolaitis! Do you think it is weird that the Chipola coaches have not moved up all of these years? They don't make much salary, so I know it is not the money keeping them at Chipola. Belinda played at Thomas College, so when you say alumni, you mean they didn't graduate from the colleges they played at and eventually did Troy online or Troy Dothan. Sorry, I have history with them and I know that they read this board, so I will try to be nice.

Wow - I come back to the softball board and find all of these comments - yay! First of all, I started this thread and I want everybody to play nice. Mullins originally signed a four year contract allegedly, so most likely she has until next year to get it together. I don't care who the coach is as long as they can recruit, coach, appreciate the alumni and people who donated toward the nice stadium she gets to go to everyday, and win. The freshmen are batting terribly yet continue to play, so I am guessing that she recruited them and is trying to get them playing time for the future. We desperately need a transfer pitcher to come in this summer and maybe we need a new pitching coach. I would like for there to be at least one male on staff - either head coach or pitching coach.

Do you think she is having trouble identifying talent or trouble actually convincing them to come to Troy?

We barely scored and were run ruled twice by ULL. It is embarrassing. Everything went down hill so fast - Davis's last recruits carried us the last few years. Hartley was her recruit, but after this year unless we bring in some stellar freshmen it is only going to get worse. Troystet - I want the inside scoop! Softball threads are a lot nicer than the football threads. We are just happy someone is chiming in. Feel free to share.

Will we win a series in the conference? I can't remember a team being this bad. Our new RPI is 115; we are near the bottom of the standings. What has happened to our softball program? I feel sorry for Hartley. She is having a great year at the plate. There were players in the lineup on Sunday batting .000 and .187. I am guessing we have some injuries? Is there any parents that read this site that care to share their feelings? I saw Corbett play some last year in JUCO and she got on base almost every time, yet she doesn't get to play. She is a slapper and from watching the games online, I don't think we have any everyday starters that are slappers. I thought the coaching staffing was going to bring in the mentality of "fast and high paced" play. Help.

They lost the second game to GA State tonight. They had a chance with runners on 1st and 2nd with only one out, and they should have called the suicide squeeze. The batter that was up doesn't even usually start and she struck out. She should have bunted - even if they get the player at home we still have the tying run at 3rd with two outs. I wonder if it even crossed the coaches mind! I was at my desk working and screaming at the computer "put on the squeeze"!
Anyway, we do need some JUCO transfers and some girls from South Florida, preferably a pitcher. I don't think Beth likes to recruit JUCO, but I am telling you that is where she can get a game changer. The girl pitching for South Carolina today against UF went to Chipola. We probably didn't even know she existed.

If there is anything at ULL that we want, it is their softball team. They have been to the WCWS and we can't even get an NCAA appearance. I will take their coach, their bats, their pitching, and their food - ha!

Yes - we played them close. Take away those walks in the first inning and we could have won. Glover looked good. I am glad she is starting to emerge. We had our chance with Hartley up with the bases loaded. I hope they can carry this into conference play.

I finally got to watch a game with an announcer on SEC+ on Sunday because they played LSU. They started Rigney and she got replaced in the 2nd inning by Graves. I don't know what happened, but Graves looked like she was seriously ticked at someone. Her body language looked mad, her pitches were flying crazy, and she didn't even hustle to cover home on a passed ball. I am totally suspecting that maybe she wanted the ball to start the game or maybe she was hurt and shouldn't have been in the game? It was really something strange to watch on TV. I wish someone that was at the game knew what was going on. LSU has more talent for sure, but I wish we would have competed a little better. We usually step up for the big games. Hartley led the game off with a triple and I was seriously excited for what may come. For anyone interested, you should be able to watch Tuesday nights game on SEC+ since they take on MS State. Please let them work out their pitching issues and come up with a victory.

No #2 or #3 pitcher! Graves has emerged as the #1, so either we are going to have to ride her or hope we don't play too many DH's. I am trying to remember if Graves and Glover were Mullins recruits or still Davis/Omara recruits. I think they were both Mullins recruits. Someone on a college softball message board asked me if the luster has worn off on Mullins, and I am still trying to come up with a response. I want to give her time to bring in her players, but the people that have been carrying the team over these last few years are Davis/Omara recruits - Affeldt, Rainey, Hartley. We have some big wins, but no consistency.

At this point, I would be happy with one ace. Rainey pitched almost all the innings last year and Affeldt the year before. I think Graves is getting the big game starts as of now, but she is not pitching the whole game. I still can't figure out why we didn't have a pitcher come in with this freshmen class. Rigney is coming off of fall surgery, plus she has been hurt most of her career. The Alabama fans are on other softball websites complaining about their sophomore pitcher Maddie Moore and how she should have went to Troy or UAB. I was like we will take her, send her on down. We have had Alabama pitchers transfer before to Troy. I am pretty sure Meg Willis came in as pitcher, so maybe they should try to get her back to form.

I watched the games online, and even though there are no announcers (which is insane because we have a school of journalism, think internship?), my best guess is that our pitch by committee worked on them. The best I can tell, no one as emerged as the ace, so they are constantly rotating the pitchers just trying to piece together 7 innings. We have one very good player, Hartley, who is on fire and she basically won that game with her homerun. The batting is much improved, but 29 errors in 15 games + 3.53 team ERA is not going to win any championships. I have faith that the pitchers are still young and will get better. We are 2-0 against the ACC, 2-3 against the ASUN, 2-0 against the MEAC, 2-0 against the Big South, 1-0 against the Big 10, and 0-2 against the Southland. Of our 9 wins, I believe only one of those teams made the NCAA tournament last season - Longwood. They won the Big South last year, so received the automatic birth.
