Yes - we played them close. Take away those walks in the first inning and we could have won. Glover looked good. I am glad she is starting to emerge. We had our chance with Hartley up with the bases loaded. I hope they can carry this into conference play.

Me too. Need to take advantage when we have the possibility of getting runs

sAng_badmood I feel like Troy always has these close games against the big competition, but never can close out the win.
I wish we had a program like ULL.

If I remember correctly 1-7 with RISP will not win you many games. Out played Miss State for most of the game.

If there is anything at ULL that we want, it is their softball team. They have been to the WCWS and we can't even get an NCAA appearance. I will take their coach, their bats, their pitching, and their food - ha!

On the other hand, no school has more top 20 players than Troy, other than Auburn.

#3 reason: We prefer to recruit JUCO transfers from Mississippi. #2 reason: We only recruit Central Florida and South of there. That's where the good players are. and the ... #1 reason??? : We only compete against how many dozens and dozens of College-level softball programs for a small pool of 20 girls???

On the other hand, no school has more top 20 players than Troy, other than Auburn. I know we had a young lady who was an outstanding SB player who wanted to go to Troy as her family had before her but no offer came. We (Troy) saw her every time we played Ga State because they did come calling. She beat us pitching many times during her career. It's all about recruiting. Hopefully this team of coaches are in top of it. That where winning begins!

They lost the second game to GA State tonight. They had a chance with runners on 1st and 2nd with only one out, and they should have called the suicide squeeze. The batter that was up doesn't even usually start and she struck out. She should have bunted - even if they get the player at home we still have the tying run at 3rd with two outs. I wonder if it even crossed the coaches mind! I was at my desk working and screaming at the computer "put on the squeeze"!
Anyway, we do need some JUCO transfers and some girls from South Florida, preferably a pitcher. I don't think Beth likes to recruit JUCO, but I am telling you that is where she can get a game changer. The girl pitching for South Carolina today against UF went to Chipola. We probably didn't even know she existed.
