Troy was given a bowl invite, and it was declined.
That's what Brett McMurphy's sources are saying in regard to the Sun Belt trying to fill other bowls.
I'd like to know why...

What a shame... It almost reminds me of 2019 when our AD declined an automatic bid to the NISC Tournament for the softball team. (for those who don't know, the NISC is to softball what the NIT is to basketball) So because Troy declined the bid, the NISC gave the bid to UT-Arlington instead... ... and guess who won the entire tournament.... UT-Arlington.

The 3-point defense is atrocious. MTSU took more 3-point shots than they did 2-pointers, and that's not good at all.

I didn't understand the defensive scheme for that game. Rigby gave Miss State open 3-point shots on purpose, trying to keep Miss State from scoring in the paint since that was their strength... but it didn't work at all. The Bulldogs shot 49% from 3... and that's what killed Troy.
Seems like Troy could have fared better if they would've just played their normal defense instead of going all-in trying to defend the paint?
Nonetheless, I think Rigby and Co. will have a great season once again. A lot of good players.
Then again Miss St could have gone cold from outside. That is the Achilles heal to our system, if they cold they have a problem That's true, but when Miss State finished the 1st Half shooting nearly 50% from 3, it seems like you'd adjust in the 2nd Half and start defending against the 3.

That was a great win.
Samford came into this came after whooping a 6-1 Belmont, and losing in the last 45 seconds to an undefeated Georgia, whom they were beating for almost the entire game.
Great win against an experienced team!

This year's Lady Trojans appear more "special" than last year's Conference Champ team. They had a tough game against the Lady Bulldogs, got triple digits put on them but they scored 70 and they are the #12 team in the country I didn't understand the defensive scheme for that game. Rigby gave Miss State open 3-point shots on purpose, trying to keep Miss State from scoring in the paint since that was their strength... but it didn't work at all. The Bulldogs shot 49% from 3... and that's what killed Troy.

Deion Sanders has always had the type of personality that could recruit well. He still resonates with young players.
Time will tell if he will be a great college head coach though.

This is Chips strong suit! So far so good! I really like Koran Griffin-Isom. Seven years in the Marines 2 years at Paloma College. I like having a 26 year old receiver ! Possible leader in the locker room with discipline I hope Jarris Williams signs. Would be huge.
Kyran Griffin-Isom could turn out to be a steal. In his freshman year of at JUCO, he had 61 catches/754 yards/7 TD's.

I totally expected McNeil to go in the portal. I wonder what kept him at #4 on the depth chart most of the season?
The fact we have a QB transfer from Missouri coming in just added to the competition.
I also feel like DK Billingsley may go into the portal also. He's got very little playing time this season after being the leading rusher last year. He's too good to sit... just shows how good the RB depth is, especially now that we've got a RB transfer from Florida State PLUS if we sign Jarris Williams today.

It may not be as big of a deal publicly as we think it is... because the only places you can find this rumor is here, the Sun Belt message board, and maybe 4 total tweets that all lead back to the same podcast source.
If you're someone that doesn't venture through Twitter or read message boards, you're not going to know about this rumor going around the internet... so you don't know there's anything to even address.
If this was the case, then what would it mean? Some people decided to conspire and spread wild rumors with the intention to get rid of our HC? This would be even more embarrassing. It's happened before.
A few years back, Les Miles was reportedly "having an affair" while he was at LSU. None of that was ever proven and there was never any firm evidence. The smoke faded after a while.
Jay Wright (Villanova basketball HC) had his name churning through the rumor mill that he was cheating on his wife and that they had filed divorce papers. And none of that was true, and was actually proven false. Him and his wife actually decided to not publicly address the rumor because they felt doing so would only lend more credence to it.

(The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) doesn't seem to be acting much different from his usual self. He's still posting things on Twitter about recruiting with excitement. Most coaches that get caught in a moral bind tend to withdraw from social media... Art Briles, Hugh Freeze, Lane Kiffin, etc. all abruptly stopped their social media doings. I'm starting to feel like there's nothing to any of this. I could be very wrong, but there's just not much to this except what a relatively unknown podcast show has said on Twitter. Haven't see the " the rumors posted about me are absolutely false" tweet yet. If my name was being accused and I was innocent I would fight. Guess his personal life is aww shucks also It may not be as big of a deal publicly as we think it is... because the only places you can find this rumor is here, the Sun Belt message board, and maybe 4 total tweets that all lead back to the same podcast source.

I would love to see Troy go bowling.
If not for ULM canceling, we likely become bowl eligible anyway under normal circumstances.
There have also been 4 teams oot of of bowls in the ACC as of today. There may be some bowl spots available. I hope our AD hasn't totally shut the door on a bowl game...

From what I've now read on Twitter, it's not good... and is embarrassing to the university.
This is like Bobby Petrino all over again.

ULM game cancelled. I imagine if things are going to happen, they will happen soon... It’s done. I wish there were more sources. Only one place on Twitter is saying this, and they're not even reputable.

The D is fantastic. The O is.... bad, to say the least.
We are one of the worst offensively flowing teams, and one of the worst shooting teams I've seen all year. It's weird because this team is full of sharp shooters and highly-talented players.
If they can ever get their offensive woes corrected, this team can win a lot of games.

Some on Twitter saying he "should've kept it in his pants"?? Others saying him being let go "won't be about the wins and losses"... Soooo.... infidelity?

This team gets a lot of players back next season, and can win the SBC and and even more... we just can't have any too players transfer.

The disrespect towards Troy is intense.
The same team that claims "US vs. EVERYBODY ELSE" and that they "run on disrespect", is turning right back around and throwing DEEP shade on Troy.
I hope the team knows about some of the coaches comments and plasters it on the locker room walls...
Go out there and break Coastal Carolina in half.

Along with Coastal's head coach saying that playing Troy is a waste of their time and is pointless..... here's how some of their fans on their message board feel:

Absolutely not... you pull for Troy, no matter what. I'd rather have a 7-5 season with a bowl bid and a Top 25 win.... versus a 6-6 season, no bowl, and no good wins.
Finishing the season on a good note means more excitement in the team, maybe less transfers, more buy-in by players, and more game experience with a bowl.

Good grief. We are celebrating a win over TUNA. We use to beat them back in the D2 days Every win is big when you're playing 6 freshmen, 2 sophomores, 2 JUCO's with no D1 experience, and only 2 seniors. Considering UNA had a veteran team with mostly seniors/juniors playing (two who were preseason All-ASun picks) , it's a good win... It shows how good we could be over the next 3 seasons.
