Hey guys I wanted to get some ideas on some specific questions for an upcoming interview we have tomorrow on Tigs Bits with Marty Smith. It’s not going to be a deep dive on football but I will get into some G5 stuff and obviously Troy! I have to share the stage with a couple of sec cats. I have my ideas but if somebody has something they don’t mind sharing it might help to shape the conversation. It can be about whatever as we attempt to discuss a variety of topics with our guests. Thanks!

Guessing I should switch my donations from that player collective that seems real vague? This seems more transparent and obviously legit. Does anyone know much about that other one I have been giving to?

Glad y’all liked it. It was a challenging interview from a technical standpoint. We lost audio and video as he was traveling several times. But it still came together pretty dang good! Hope to get him on again sometime and dive into a few more things a little off football talk.

Another great way to help the NIL efforts is to spend as much money as possible at Jones Medical Supply to help me cover the current NIL deals I have now. Just sayin. If I ever have a need you will be the first person I call!

This ChatGPT is some really wild stuff. The Bing version is even more robust as it’s the latest 4.0 version. A buddy of mine started a podcast called Tigs Bits. Yea he’s a big LSU fan but he was also the first face I saw when he came down to the Troy section to congratulate me on Troy’s win with about a minute to go over in Baton Rouge. Anyway, I go on the show from time to time and recently we had Justin Runnels join us on the show. He is also a Troy grad and Tour Manager for Justin Moore and co host of the Justin Moore podcast. Oneof the episodes we recorded was all about chatGPT and AI. So if you get really bored check it out!
We also recorded a show about a year ago called “Surviving Troy” Where we discuss a very eventful Troy game that I brought Tigs to.

Watched the last two days on TV. Although I was shocked when I turned on yesterday and it said 10-0 with one out in the first! Hate I missed that action!

Excited about this as it will be my first year attending the SBC tournament. Meeting up with a bud of mine who played football at ECU to go watch Thursday. Can’t wait!

I would be willing to bet his salary doubled overnight. Good move for him but as stated above..we will be fine.

Jon is really special. And I think we could have him for longer than one more year. The lessons of XHCNB and Billy Napier loom large. Stringing together a few successful SBC seasons and then jumping at the first shiny thing doesn't always work out. Coaches like Jon Sumrall, Neal Brown and Napier are motivated, aspirational, very competitive and confident. They take on ( in JS case will take on) these bigger jobs because they truly believe they can win and want to compete at the highest level. They are ultra competitive. #2 they take the bigger jobs because they come out of it (even when fired) with generational wealth. Making $5/6 million a year ( and that’s low now) with a $12 million buyout literally sets up you and your grandkids for life. I believe Jon will pick his spot but we all know he wants Kentucky in the end and it would be easier to get that job if he was winning at a NC State, VA Tech, Arkansas or even a Tulane. Plus his family can always make new friends. Coaches wife’s and kids always can and do. (This addresses an item from another post) This is just the facts.

He’s also never thrown an incompletion as a college QB. 8/8 85 yards.. while I doubt he can maintain that clip, this is a very nice get!!!

Is what it is but I still feel the portal helps us more than it hurts. You have a giant pool to pull from with some really good talent wanting to showcase their skills. While we sometimes lose really good players to P5, I think there are more P5 players not starting that want to go somewhere to play and be seen. To add to that, and to another posters point, you now have the ability to weed out players that aren’t working out and open up scholarships. Last year over half of the players in the Sunbelt who hit the portal ended up at FCS/DII schools. Only 25% ended up at power 5 programs. It’s chaotic but if you stay calm during chaos there is definitely opportunity to improve your roster. JS has shown his portal management skills are as good as any coaches out there. He has minimized those leaving you want to keep, send those you don’t want down the road and bring in the talent to make you better. He does that very well!

One thing about that guy is that time after time when his back is against a wall he delivers! His grit and toughness is as good as it gets. Early in the season I thought Doege gave us a better chance. But as time went on he always was able to deliver when it mattered most. But having that dual threat could possibly open things up.who knows how it plays out. 🤷🏻♂️

My son turns 16 on the 15th. Not the best timing here. However… Happy birthday son and welcome to the Cure Bowl!
