Ok I am curious as to money differential because Tulane is not step up. Not down but not up. Coach Wood did a very good job but man oh man was there some talent on that side of the ball. PS no to R…. JS will get someone that should be pretty good. What say ULM defensive coordinator? Just asking for a friend.

He was pretty inexperienced, and you have to believe HCJS had his finger in much of the defense much like Saban. He had a path to more money by staying the current course. However,Tulane DC's have been moving up independently of the head coach,so maybe it works out for him.I'm not concerned in the least by this news

I do wonder if Coach Vic K. (ULM) would want to return to Troy for a third time. I am sure he would like to add to his State of Alabama retirement fund. HCJS knows him well from his previous Troy tenure. We all remember how the return of Coach Bolt with the 'Dead Bolt Defense' played out for Troy about a decade ago. We may hire from within the program as it is getting a bit late to find DC's at this point into the off-season.
I trust HCJS will find the right man for the job.
Go TROY!

I think Vic would be a great move. He knows the program and when HCJS leaves in a few seasons Neal will already have a familiar DC in place to come home to.

Whom ever HCJS picks is the one I will wholeheartedly believe is the best choice for Troy and to work with HCJS.
Mic drop!!!! Boom
I don’t pretend to be a final word on this matter but I am pretty sure that the majority on here would agree with above sentiment.

Tulane got a taste of glory this past season, they're hungry for more and I like(ed) fritz until now.

Troy's gotta pay more. Then we wouldn't lose coaches to schools like Tulame.

Good programs lose assistants. Im not surprised by it. But I think we are in good hands with JS. Im sure he’s had a back up plan for DC. I also think JS has a lot to do with our amazing Defense as well. Next man up.

I would be willing to bet his salary doubled overnight. Good move for him but as stated above..we will be fine.

Also......so what, now what? Greg Gasparoto from Cincy is the new DC. gocards.com/sports/football/roster/coaches/greg-gasparato/2124"Under Gasparato’s influence, the Knights ranked first in the nation in total defense allowing 275.3 yards per game and were second against the pass at 160.8 yards per game. Army was also second in the country in scoring defense at 14.8 points per game and finished ninth with 16 interceptions. Prior to his one season at the United States Military Academy, Gasparato coached the safeties at Appalachian State -- his second stint with the program. During the 2019 campaign, the Mountaineer defense finished in the top 30 of the national statistical rankings, including in defensive touchdowns scored, third-down conversion percentage, takeaways, interceptions, sacks, pass efficiency defense, scoring defense, tackles for loss yardage, yards allowed per play, total defense, rushing TDs allowed, fumble recoveries, rushing defense and TDs allowed."

Strong hire. Many App fans believe we probably upgraded DCs from Wood.

I hate to see Wood go, but it looks like he had some input with his replacement. From my limited research, I think this is a very strong hire as well. Gasparato seems to be very well respected by fellow coaches and fans alike.

Gasparato seems to be very well respected by fellow coaches and fans alike. Upon reading and other folks reactions it truly does seem this is “The next man up”. A guy ready to make the step to coordinator. While we think this is strong hire, this is the way we should look at all hires. Due diligence and with best available evidence is always a good way of selecting folks.
