Do we believe Gunnar comes back to Troy for his final season or transfers out?
He has really improved the last 2 weeks but with the high expectations for Costelli who is labeled as a serious dual threat and will be eligible could Watson choose to move elsewhere?
I also wonder if we see another veteran transfer in like Doege.

I’d like to add that I’m not against him staying. Just seeing what others are thinking or hearing is going to happen.

It's a tough decision and we may have to wait until spring ball to find out.

One thing about that guy is that time after time when his back is against a wall he delivers! His grit and toughness is as good as it gets. Early in the season I thought Doege gave us a better chance. But as time went on he always was able to deliver when it mattered most. But having that dual threat could possibly open things up.who knows how it plays out. 🤷🏻♂️

I’d like a link to the source and read his bio. I do recall that he has not started or shared game time in several years.

I want to express a strong interest in the Kilcrease kid. He excites me as a player more than just about anyone for the future as a quarterback.

I think Gunnar comes back. He loves Troy and has obviously enjoyed this successful season after so many down years.
As much as we all want Costelli to be a thing, Coach got several good hard looks at him at picked the bat phone to bring in Doege. Not to say he hasn't improved, but he is apparently not a phenom.

In my day job (aside from talking to an Aardvark) I tell kids there always is a reason we do what we do. " I don't know" or "cause" is not a reason for doing something. When you figure out why you do something then you can deal with the decision process be it positive outcome or negative outcome. HCJS had a reason for doing what he did.

As much as we talk about "super seniors" and guys that benefitted from the extra COVID year, guys like him that missed their senior year in HS were really given the short end of the stick. Missing such a crucial year of competition will put them permanently a year behind their peers.

If he has a post grad football career, that may make a difference on the back end of the career.🤷♂️

If he's a fast as they say, might make a difference in his Olympic sprinting career. Ran into a guy in the Memphis airport who saw my shirt and immediately said "Troy? Like Peter Costelli?" He was from California and watched him play high school ball. Had nothing but praises to sing about the kid, particularly his speed.

As much as we all want Gunnar Watson to be a thing, Coach got several good hard looks at him at picked the bat phone to bring in Doege. Not to say he hasn't improved, but he is apparently not a phenom. Don’t fall victim to exact same thing that is was being professed before. Watson a good kid, nobody ever said anything otherwise. He has greatly benefited for a truly elite defense that literally won games for Troy this year. Someone recently started a thread thanking Doege for his efforts too this year, he helped win a couple games for Troy this year, when Watson couldn’t. Watson was at best wildly inconsistent this year. And wasn’t helped by our wildly inconsistent, often bizarre and often nonexistent 1st half play calling. Don’t count Costelli out. That assumes a lot. Dude has legit talent.

I still have a love hate relationship with him. he looks amazing one play and the next me and my entire section are like what is he doing. He needs to work on consistency and pocket Prescence more this off season. oh and speed

I think Costelli makes a push in the off season.
I know the Kilcrease family well and he’s a competitor I promise you that. He will make his presence known.
Gunnar if he stays will also make some improvements just because he will be pushed to do so.
Unnamed incoming QB would not shock me and could make the QB room and battle very interesting. (I don’t have information here but Pro Style Spread QB talent is always needed.)

But if you believe Troy’s offense and QB play was a model and consistency and efficiency, we send to send MIB after you, you off the reservation. If you can’t counter, then your argument is weak, opinion and wrong.

I think Costelli makes a push in the off season and is QB1 in the fall. This is a thought tethered so loosely to reality that it's impossible to debate. Put your feelings away. What makes you believe that Costelli, who already had one off season to beat Gunnar out, is now going to use a <checks note> offseason to <checks again> beat Gunnar out?
