Good gosh. Who cares. Barely a winner, but sure enough a sore loser. Not to mention willing to take it out on his players. Barely a winner??? homershake smiley-laughing001 78-40 with a salary of 4M? Not a lot of bang for your buck. Not to mention the fact everyone is harping on self conduct and discipline. He's probably one of the last people you would want to solve that issue.

He won at Duke and 5 straight SEC championships and a Nat Championship at Florida. Is he over the hill now?? Perhaps but he has had back to back 11 win seasons. Point was only that his players say he hates to lose worse than any coach they have ever seen which was the #1 on the list shared.

I just watched a special on the U. They sure won a lot of games. I think I'll have a beer. Impossible, Hemi. I remember some of the U's players having long hair. And we all know you can't be trusted if you have long hair. It's funny, everyone wants the discipline needed to produce winners but some don't think anything needs changing, especially IF they think it's ok. Just like some views on the state of the US financial situation, "we need to cut back.... just don't cut anything I like." It doesn't work that way, that's why it's called a commitment but why try to explain that concept here?

The Sixteen Consistent Characteristics of Greatness was written by Don Yaeger. He wrote biographies of Michael Oher and Walter Payton and a book called "Turning of the Tide - How One Game Changed the South" about integrating college football in Alabama.

If someone is dressed for Trojan Walk different than you did in 1960, well that's one thing. But to say someone is a hellion because they have dreads is a pretty huge stretch. It's not the army. It's a GAME.

What the point was on discipline was if you let people wear their hair anyway they want, dress any way they want, act anyway they want, then how do you expect them to abide by other rules or assignments. Do you think our team would quit if there was a no long hair, beards or earrings rule for the football season? What about employers? Should they allow employees to dress anyway they want to? You are correct, long hair in itself does not make one a thug, a hellion, or a bad person. It is just one area of a overall lack of discipline and control over players. That is my view and the view of many fans. We are all free to agree or disagree on this area.

It's a GAME. Scatman, let me share a personal thought with you so you have a realistic understanding from whence I commeth, I don't give a rats rear what you think of me and my 1960 opinions on here. It's simply a web site for FRIENDLY exchange of thoughts. If you think I'm "crazy" because I've had enough years and experiences that I can share what I've lived not just what I think, then have at it. You see, I've seen it work (commitments to common consistent rules for everyone- Lombardi was a prime example as was Paul Bryant...but heck, they were "crazy" too I guess)! When you can't discuss/debate concepts without name calling that simply shows you are out of your league intellectually anyway. Now, that that fact had been established and said I will only say that Troystet explained it nicely. NO, long hair DOES NOT make a kid a discipline problem, earrings, nose rings or any other piercings or personal body art doesn't either. Baggy pants, punctuality, lack of study habits, lack of respectful behavior, none of these in themselves always makes a kid a discipline problem BUT when they all exist within a TEAM concept you will LIKELY have discipline problems which, I suppose, is why those things will usually keep you from getting jobs in the real world. Now I don't expect you to understand that concept because you are young and know better than us. You are right, football is a game, not the military but the concepts that lead you to success IN BOTH are the same... But again I don't expect you to understand that since I doubt you have ever experienced either. Let's agree to keep the comments civil! I don't ask you to agree with me, frankly I could care less. I just enjoy a friendly sharing of ideas from different Troy fans life experiences. Now let's agree that we might often disagree but applying adjectives to each other serves no purpose and darn, we're both Trojans at heart, ones just a lot older I suspect but that's not a bad thing.

Sooooooo, the fact that we stereotype today's team with its unruly hairdos, ear rings, tattoos, baggy warmups, etc, as benchmarks for judging the "perceived" lack of discipline, commitment, and winning and suggest that the 60's/70's attitude would be better for our team. Rather have the "bra tossing," "anti-war marching", "rioting against our government", type attitude portrayed on the field. BTW, would LOVE to have Vince or the Bears idea of how to control all of these " HORRIBLE THINGS that make the youth of Troys football team so unacceptable by many of us.
Thing is, YOU CANT USE 60s/70s/80s/90s technology, styles, approaches today and expect all to be well.
I, personally, get tired of reading armchair quarterbacks talking about the "good ole days" and suggesting that we go back to facemask-less helmets and Wing-T thinking to get us back to where some would like us to be.
GO TROJANS (those of today), I will take my chances with this bunch, both coaches and players, hell, include the Athletic Dept, I will take them too. Why? BECAUSE I KNOW HOW HATD THEY ARE ALL WORKING THEIR A** OFF TO GET US VICTORIES. NOT to take us backward, but to move us forward, in frocking 2014!!!
See you at the tailgate, ready to talk/discuss with anyone willing to show up and talk about. Just remember your "OPINION" IS NOT A FACT!!!

Let's see, you are frustrated because we say things YOU DON'T AGREE WITH. Sounds like you think your opinions are fact or there would be no anger. If you get tired hearing the "older" alumnus thoughts on issues why don't you just simply try an old tried and proven frustration preventer and not read them? Still a free country....well at least for a little while longer and that included us uninformed, backwards, out of touch, laughable folks from the "60's, 70's, 80's and 90's! Dang, you included just about everybody but the last 23 years. That's about 90% of fans you are tired of hearing from! Wow! Great approach for a fan board member. Only say what I believe or SHUT UP, I'm tired hearing you! I'll leave you to your anger of us less intellectuals! Enjoy tailgating with the younger more informed fans!:-) Maybe we should include our ages on our post to help out those who are "tired" of hearing our THOUGHTS!
