In regards to the player's appearances - I work in a hotel that houses many of the SEC teams during the season along with teams from other (and smaller) conferences, and to a man they all get off that bus wearing the same outfit. And this is simply for their walk from a bus to a hotel lobby - not a pre-game tradition involving fans. Many have long hair and dreads but as long as they are clean I don't see a proplem with long hair. I find it hard to believe that Troy recruits the only players in the country who want to express their "individuality" or have discipline problems. This is ALL on the coaches. How can you expect to have student leaders when you do not have coaching leaders. I know for a fact that one of the coaches did not even stay with the team Friday night. This may be common practice at Troy but I am going off what I see from other teams. Also, maybe the coaches need to imbibe less the night before a game. Not a good example. You sir are a genius. The dress issue has been on the slide for several years. I like coat and tie, but if they are going to wear warmups they all need to wear them. Discipline starts with the coaches. WE NEED A MAJOR CHANGE IN ATTITUDES AND DIRECTION.

If by some unforeseen "cold day in hell" moment we lose on Saturday (it can't happen, right?), does LB make it through the weekend as head coach?

They had a few locker room instances last year, one serious that resulted in injury. There is a big discipline problem that to many fans want to ignore. You let players dress any way they want, wear hair down to the middle of their back, act any way they want, do practically anything they want, then dontt expect them to keep composure and follow assignments on the field. I'm not the only one picking this up. I heard multiple comments on the hair during the game and got a earful listening to conservation sat the alumni tent. Everything from hair, to no discipline to recruiting. From conservations I overheard from alumni and fans, it can be summed up in one phrase " Fed Up". And it was discouraging as a former player, alumni and supporter. Long hair isn't causing us to lose games. You would be shocked at the amount of turmoil that went unnoticed during the championships. Winning tends to keep those undercover. I think I'll have a beer. Hemi, I don't care to REALLY get into this issue of discipline or lack thereof but I can assure you poor discipline shows itself with many different "faces"! Just like pants worn below your arse, doesn't mean you are a bad kid but the odds of that being true is incredible and that is true with many personal choices of appearances if allowed to do as you please. No, Hemi, long hair in itself DOES NOT cause you to lose games any more than sagging pants causes you to disrespect rules, etc., but it's an indicator. An indicator not needed in a TEAM atmosphere. We all know great kids with long hair but we know more bad ones with it. It's all about commitment! Why did the military always have VERY strict dress/appearance codes? Discipline, plain and simple! Long hair is just one thing? Sloppy dress, general personal actions says tons about what's in a kids mind....and heart. Continuing to say it doesn't matter doesn't mean it doesn't matter. What kids do away from the team says volumes about what they will do with the team. Teamwork means being willing to give up things you would like to do for the sake of and commitment to the team concept. If you are not willing to do that then you AND THE TEAM are better off without each other.

This would be a great opportunity to install the new "15" man defense to stop the spread offense lol

This is something from a writer - I'll find his name - that I have shared with a few of the players in the past. I used to know more of them on a first name basis than I do now.
Sixteen Consistent Charateristics of Greatness
HOW THEY THINK
1. It's personal - they hate to lose more than they want to win. 2. Rubbing Elbows - the understand the value of association. 3. Believe - They have faith in a higher power. 4. Contagious Enthusiasm - They are positive thinkers...they are enthusiastic... and that rubs off.
HOW THEY PREPARE
5. Hope for the best, but they prepare for all possibilities before they step on the field. 6. What Off Season - they are always working towards the next game - the goal is what's ahead and there is always something ahead. 7. Visualize Victory - They see victory before the game begins. 8. Inner Fire - They use adversity as fuel.
HOW THEY WORK
9. Ice in their veins - they are risk takers and don't fear making a mistake. 10. When all else fails - they know how and when to adjust a game plan. 11. Ultimate teammate - they will assume wahtever role is neccsary for the team to win. 12. Not just about the Benjamins - they don't just play for the money or the future money.
HOW THEY LIVE
13. Do unto others - they know character is defined by how they treat those who cannot help them. 14. When no one is watching - they are comfortable in the mirror - they live their life with integrity. 15. When everyone is watching - the embrace the idea of being a role model. 16. Records are made to be broken - they know their legacy isn't only what they did on the field. They are well-rounded.

If we were winning, we wouldn't even be having this conversation. Now...remind me again how long hair negatively impacts success on the field??? Surf Report: Minimal (ankle high or less) surf. Fairly clean in the morning with NW winds 5-10mph. Light sideshore texture conditions for the afternoon with the winds shifting to the W. IF we were winning we probably wouldn't be talking about discipline issues of any kind either. They've been here more a lot lately than in championship years and I hate hearing that might be our problem again. My thought is whatever the problem(s) is/are it needs identifying and fixing. At least during a timeout now none of these guys are ignoring the huddle and on the field dancing to the SOTS. That's an improvement.

If there was a physical altercation, I am sure it was nothing more than pushing/shoving. I'm sure there is a ton of frustration in that locker room. I think the two groups that aren't seeing eye-to-eye are both wanting to be successful, but are going about it in different ways. The team hasn't imploded yet. I am sure there is discontent in every 0-2 locker room across the width and breath of this great nation. This team needs just one break to go its way and tempers will cool down. Hopefully, that break comes Saturday. Yea, the biggest difference being that it's usually not caught on audio. I think I'll have a beer.
