When TROY was winning 5 titles, the donations were suffering, but we all reaped the benefits. So, as far as I'm concerned, it's fair for fans to give back while they struggle...it's only fair. Its also fair for the people who have invested in the team to expect a return on their investment. Coming out of a three year stretch without a winning season and going into (if things are what they appear to be) a fourth non-winning season tends to make even the more faithful question the value of their investment. If football is now a business, as many say it is, then it is only fair for the investors (fans) in the business (Troy football) to question if their investment is being well spent when the promised results (winning season) have not come to fruition... it's only fair. better watch out. Someone will say "no one ever said or promised a winning season!" Lol

I am not stopping financial support. I would be there if I thought we could be competitive. We got woodshedded in the opening game to our biggest rival. Coach you had all summer to game plan for Clark. He is running the same things he did at Opelika and Jax State. Your only excuse for embarrassing our athletes and school is "We were not prepared" - "We got woodshedded" give me a break. I just expect better out of the coaches there is no excuse for what happened last week. Except they may have spent the summer prepping for Duke and were very foolish in overlooking UAB. Either way Saturday was on the coaches. Call me unreasonable but I expect grown men to do their job.
I have to be present in sad situations for my calling. I don't have to be present when the college program I love dies. Saturday did something to me I think. LOL! I am not sure talking about is making it any better.
Go Trojans!! Here is to a better game Saturday. Here is to right decisions being made if our coaches have embarrassed us again. Go Trojans!!
There will be differences in this weeks game and preparation. Whether that translates onto the field remains to be seen. Comparing the death or illness of a human being to losing a game to UAB is extremely shallow. I think I'll have a beer. Wow! Bad choice of words on my part. See where you got that Hemi. Not what I meant at all.
What I meant by "Sad situations" was for instance - when I left the office at 8 this morning I have been to three hospitals in two states because of surgery and sickness. Earlier this week I have been in seven counseling situations dealing with issues that range from child abuse to adultery to suicidal thoughts. I live in heavy issues every day.
I should have said seeing the decline or collapse (instead of death) of a program which I have loved my entire life (grew up in Troy - I was cheering for Troy before many you of ever heard of it) and has brought many great times into my life is not something I can stomach to witness. It is personal to me because I know to many people involved.
Thanks for pointing that out! That's what you get for not proof reading.

Four years in a row is very premature, but negativity isn't confined to the flock I see. Everyone wants to see the Trojans back on top, but this is a far different animal than this conference was a few short seasons ago. At this point, our investment has been low, my apologies if you were unaware, and that money has to be supplemented with peoples' beer money. We're behind and the results are beginning to show on the field. The more people that withhold their investments until they see a winner are enabling the program to continue to struggle. Do what you want, how you please; this is America. I'm just callin' it like I see it...kinda like you are.

Ok, here's my biggest question. How do we get more donations? I am a recent alumni and a teacher, I'm not financially stable enough to give back to the university, YET. What about all of the other alums, how do we get them to donate money to their alma mater?

What about all of the other alums, how do we get them to donate money to their alma mater? Here is the problem. When we won 5 straight sun belt titles and even when we beat Missouri in 2004 and Ok. St in 2007, our AD at the time missed a golden opportunity to raise funds. I never received anything in the mail, email, nothing asking for a donation to take Troy to even greater heights. Can yiu imagine receiving a letter asking for this after watching Troy beat Missouri on TV or Oklahoma St. Even those with no money probably would have sent $20. Now we have been lousy for three seasons and had a horrid start to this season. Fan interest is waning and we are losing fans. What letter do you send now? " we were taken to the woodshed 48-10 by UAB who went 2-9 last year. Please give so this doesn't happen again?" The sad truth is wining gets people excited. We screwed up big time during the run and now it will be twice as difficult to raise funds?

What about all of the other alums, how do we get them to donate money to their alma mater? You can give $9 a month and become a warrior. For $350 a year you can secure a parking pass for all home games. I feel like most everyone can afford $9 a month. If you were to join in October then you start telling your friends about it. All the needs that are fulfilled by their donation. With that donation you receive a bimonthly email, exclusive invitation to Warrior events, and a sticker and license plate for your vehicle. We can't sit around and expect the development staff to do all the work. If can bring I 2-5 new Warriors every year and each of those recruit 2+ every year we are growing the foundation. I think I'll have a beer.

When talking to a prospective Warrior I always tell the truth. We are struggling right now. However I'm giving to Troy athletics for tomorrow. Whether that's LB and company with a huge turn around and taking us to a bowl game or new staff at a much higher price. That goes for all sports. I think I'll have a beer.

Question about donations. If you buy season tickets a part of the ticket price is for a mandatory donation to the Trojan Warrior fund. My dad and I buy two chairbacks a year which means that we donate enough for a parking pass. If we wanted to make a further donation would we just go through the online donations thing and it would automatically add on to our current donations from season tickets or would we have to start over under a new line?
I also just looked through the TW brochure and it said that a minimum gift of $100 makes you a Trojan warrior and it did not say anything about receiving a car sticker or license plate. It looked like it might have been just put out this year which means they are going through a revamping process. This is good, however they really need to find good ways to get it into the hands of current and potential donors. Also I think the more perks they have for Trojan Warriors that are visible to the general public the more people will want to donate. A prime example of this is a free parking pass with a donation of $350 and then better parking for more donations. If I were buying bench back or just reserved seating and saw that I would want to toss in a few extra bucks to get a guaranteed parking spot every home game.
I think one thing that would help is if the Trojan Warrior information was more easy to access online. As it is I had to download a huge pdf. file that took about 5 min on my internet and when I finally got it downloaded it was not optimized from computer viewing. If they had a web tap with all the info broken down or a download that was optimized for E-reading I think that would help some.

Yes, whatever you give on top of your TSL goes to your single Trojan Warrior donor status. I would think if you gave online it would connect you to your already established account. However, I would encourage you to contact Andrew Dickinson to make 100% sure there weren't any issues in doing it that way. This new Trojan Warrior program rolled out in January of 14. Most of the people that established it have move on, but I agree that kind of information should be publicized for sure. As you give at higher amounts there are obviously other benefits as well. I'm not a huge fan of the online brochure for the reasons you mentioned. Hopefully that can be worked on in the near future to make it easier. I think I'll have a beer.

That's a Steve Dennis issue. Williams set the table, but moving from D1AA to D1A tends help the fund raising effort. Losing isn't good for it either. John Hartwell is very good at what he does and we will be just fine in that area. There is a large group of Troy fans that are what have you done for me lately types. Losing ugly at UAB and bad weather forecasts kept those people at home. I think I'll have a beer.

The other problem I had last year was I did the $600 level plus season tickets and got to park behind the Trojan Center?? Lousy, crappy parking spot and to put the cherry on the sundae, not once did anyone check for a permit. Everybody was parking there. This year I paid $150 through the T-Club and parked at the armory. Walked 20 yds and was at the stadium. If they want to throw parking in they need a better spot than the Trojan Center that you half to walk up a hill for a good 100 plus yds just toget to the press box parking area and then you half you walk around the baseball field to get to the tailgate areas.
