I have no idea at the moment. My guess is ADBJ was down there signing papers with some big agent that lives there.

Well What if one is Buddhist or follow Confucius ? Quite a few Troy Trojans in our Chinese contingent. As seen in their previous posts on this board. John 3:16 You know the Saint is down with St. John, but our Trojan brethren in The greater Shanghai burbs are not reading that.

Kiffin picking up lures at Troy Bait and Tackle I’m sure ex HCJS isn’t the only one interested in members of our coaching staff.

This time of year in MLB can be as suspenseful as a tight pennant race as we watch the trade rumors and free agent signings. If you are into such things and are, as I am, a huge Braves fan, you know that the President of Baseball Operations (GM) for the Braves is Alex Anthopolous and he is known for, among other things, running a tight ship when it comes to leaks regarding team transactions. I'm not sure that leaking info regarding a trade or FA signing wouldn't get you fired.
AA could take lessons on secrecy from ADBJ. There has been nothing, absolutely NOTHING, leaked about our coaching search. As much as the suspense is killing us all, that secrecy is probably a good thing. That said, I'm ready for it to go away and for us to know who the next leader of our TROJANS will be.

If it helps... the Troy University aircraft that Jon Sumrall flew in on when he was officially named as Troy's head coach had a registration number of N721RD. I've been poking around looking for Trojan Force One. I found (and I hope I don't get whacked) that the particular plane you mentioned is owned through corps but basically by Roy Drinkard who is a BOT member. He's 103, so I don't know if he is even alive. Anyway, this plane hasn't been flown since April. If anyone is tracking flights, if the owner is King Edward Inc, that is probably Trojan Force One. There are no inbound or outbound flights being shown for Troy's airport at the moment. I looked at Morgantown to see if Lesley might be flying here soon, but there aren't any flights from there coming near here. One to Tallahassee, but that is just noise. I'm thinking that tomorrow there will be flights into KTOI that should show who the coach is. Unless he is already in town and came from Boca Raton earlier today.

WE are going to need a little lead time regarding the press conference time since we are currently viewing the venue for Trojan Baseball's March 6th game.

We might not even have a coach by the March 6th baseball game at this rate. Just kidding but I still stick to my guns that nothing will be announced until at least tomorrow.

For a lot of you and Trojan fans in general, this hire will be underwhelming and the question will be asked, “Why did this take so long then?” Saint will say it again, don’t get attached to these coaches. They are paid employees, here to do a job. If all of sudden their paycheck didn’t hit their bank account, they would not show up for work. Judge them on one thing, wins and losses.

First of all, like a lot of the coaching hires for the bigger sports, this decision is not the AD's, Cross was hired by the previous AD right before he left, JS and Meade were outside and above hires. AD Jones, has no say despite the PR machine of the university making it look that way. Prez JH micromanages every, and i mean every move. And BJ will not leave his office without permission.
So Prez JH and AD BJ, last time almost brought WVU offensive line coach Matt Moore to Troy instead of Sumrall. that is until the BOT was informed what was happening and stepped in and made them start over, ending with the finalists of Sumrall and Charles Kelly off Nick Saban's staff.
BJ was originally told to hire JS, when the move to fire (The HC we don’t speak of) was made (a year late because they could not pay him off). They lowballed JS on salary, ($200K less than he was making at Kentucky) when the search began and JS told them where to go, even though he wanted the job bad. His quote to a person I spoke with "I was insulted." Because of that, JS never really felt confidence in the AD and is one of the reasons JS was so quick to make a lateral move for just a little more money. So now I see the other thread on Lesley. Well when JS turned them down after the original lowball offer last time, Prez, JH told BJ they had to hire someone off Neal's staff. No forward thinking, that is when Moore became the choice, even though he never had been anything but an O-Line coach. Then the board said start the search over, here is the salary and that is when the final two became JS and Kelly. Things were not good at Colorado this year for Kelly, but then when Deion destroyed the roster it was hard to be good.
Anyway, the BOT did step in and forced the issue then. I know there are some BJ plants on this board that will dispute this and praise him. But he did not hire Scott Cross, the previous AD did right before he left. As for Skyler Meade, as I stated before, BJ did not make that hire, it came from above and outside because of the son-in-law issue. Meade was one of the few willing to take the job after the handling of the Mark Smartt-Adam Godwin fiasco. Many other college coaches have said this. Troy had to agree to build the stadium quickly to get Meade. The stadium had been on the books for years. JH would not allow it to be built while Godwin was not "treated fairly." I have friends on the board, in the athletics department and other areas close to athletics, and throughout college athletics, who have all given me the same story on all of these. My job has me involved with coaches and administrators at all levels of colleges and athletics and I am a Troy grad. So I get these things and when everyone tells you the same story, it is probably accurate. You probably do not want to believe this. BJ's other hires have not worked out so well. Several in other sports lasting less than two years for various reasons, none except maybe the golf coach moving to Alabama to be an assistant, moving up.
Can people just admit it is time for JH to retire. He has too many political ties he keeps in Montgomery, and is a politician, with a wife who he has to run things past first. He stays so his family can get the $2m in university payroll from different departments and his power, a true politician. Trust me, the next president will have a financial mess to clean up.
As for the coach, the names I have seen are very short-sighted and limiting it to a Troy connection, or Neal Brown connection. What I would do is go hire Bill Clark, he would keep the OC because he worked for him at UAB. Clark did not actually retire because of the back, but admin and AD issues he always had to fight - he told me that personally. That means he may not be interested here. Word is out on the admin here. Coaches talk to other coaches, only those with no chance of a better job or not an OC are interested at this moment. Look at the names being mentioned.
And in a little defense of ADBJ, he won't go to the bathroom without Pres JH giving permission, he is micromanaged, so this will not be the AD hire, just like Meade and JS were not. You can praise the BJ hires all you want, but, again, he did not make them. He got to make the offer on Twitter, but this is above his paygrade, and probably even the Prez, JH, has no clue.

Why in the heck would you hire an OC from a school that has had less success than the one on your staff? And also, hire one from a program that could not beat your team if they played this year. Not an impressive resume.

Brent Jones not having any say is an interesting take.

1) Why in the heck would you hire an OC from a school that has had less success than the one on your staff? 2) And also, hire one from a program that could not beat your team if they played this year. Not an impressive resume. 1) Because the one on staff is leaving for mega bucks to "another" program,, and the "powers" won't loosen the purse strings for a better hire. 2) See "purse strings" above.
