I know any conversation with you is done under the assumption that OCJC is an idiot, but if there was this great potential for Costelli, why haven't we seen a single snap from him? At this point, it's all bonus. He doesn't lose his redshirt even if he plays in all remaining games. I think it all goes back to the old adage about the back-up quarterback being the most popular guy on every campus. Maybe Costelli lines up in some "Wild Trojan/Super Back" type package on Saturday and goes crazy. If so, I'll gladly eat crow. But I doubt it. The more obvious answer is that we're playing the best QB we have at the moment. I've been a Doege guy for a long time but at some point I either trust HCJS who sees 100% of this football team's activities or I trust myself who sees 4 hours for 12 Saturdays. And if Gunnar is better now, why would we think #3 will suddenly be better after another offseason? A point to clear up: never have called the OC an idiot. I have stated he is a below average OC. Facts and statistics prove this out, especially at his previous jobs. “The more obvious That we’re playing the best QB we have at the moment” That is not obvious. There could be a multitude of reasons we are not: promises we’re made, #3 has been injured, maybe not academically eligible, maybe he had a personal issue he is emotionally working through, maybe #18 is a favorite of the OC, maybe #3 is moving to another position, so forth and so forth. If the case #18 is the best we have, that’s why I stated we need to hit the Portal hard for a QB. And also, if #3 is not close to #18, we blew that assessment. You asked Why could #3 improve next year ? His talent level potential is high. You can see that in practice, on his tapes. He is young, more runway to improve. Another question that has been asked, has #18’s potential been limited to poor OC scheme and play calling ? Another point, why not try something different, what we are doing week in and we’ll out is not working. You literally almost can’t get any worse. We all just guessing. Appreciate your thoughts, made me think. Facts prove that out? Craddock was a Broyles award candidate in 2017 at SMU. During the 2017 regular season, Craddock’s unit ranked No. 8 in the FBS in scoring offense (40.2 points), No. 13 in total offense (493.8 yards) and No. 16 in passing yards (308 yards). SMU was one of just two teams in the country that featured a 3,000-yard passer, 1,000-yard rusher and multiple 1,000-yard receivers in All-Americans Sutton and Quinn. If you want to blame Arkansas on him, go for it, but Chad Morriss was in way over his head. So by stats prove that out you mean W-L?

If he was no part of the problem with Arkansas, then why wasn’t he picked up as an OC at a P5 school ? TE coach at UAB ? Isn’t it all about Wins and Losses. Why play the game ?

I really really hope that #18 throws for 450 yards and 4 touchdowns while running OCJC perfectly called game against ULM.
I know hope is a dangerous thing, all we can go off of is history. But make it happen. It would be nice to see.

Does anyone in this thread realize the last time Costelli played competitive football?
His ceiling is high. Probably not that high in 2022 though

Probably not that high in 2022 though Stop letting facts ruin their fun The answer you’re looking for is 2019 at the high school level. 2020 in California = nothing fun or competitive for anyone in the state 2021 at Utah = practicing redshirt freshman

Yes, Costelli hasn’t played in a good while. That doesn’t mean we don’t have to make an effort to keep him out of the portal. I urge you to buy something from The Athlete’s Thread. The players get a cut. To that end, as much as we all love our senior stars, money spent on the site goes further in building the team if you buy underclassmen. An exception can be made if you set an NCAA record. athletesthread.com/collections/troy-university-ncaa-football-2

If he makes a decision to transfer then he’s doing what he thinks is best for him. 2022. I’m confident O2 guy is leading the charge on the NIL front at Troy.

Teal Chickens officially canceled the game Saturday. We really need JMU to knock them down now.

Correction UVA cancelled after a tragedy I’m not saying it to be callous, as I first said when it happened on this exact thread, it’s an awful senseless tragedy. I’m just pointing out the reality of what that means for our team and the schedule.

I highly doubt UVA plays another game this season. If that's what their players want, I think its for the best. I can't begin to put myself in their shoes.

But having dealt with tragedy similar both professionally and personally, sometimes it’s good to get “back to work”, get some routine to help deal with the sadness. Plus you don’t let the evil win by cancelling what you love to do. The worst thing in morning is to sit around and do nothing. Having said, I agree this is too big and complex to play football. They need to shutdown the rest of the season. Even if the team says they want to continue and play, it might be just too big of a hill to climb. The university needs to keep the team together though and active. It will help their recovery. A sad situation. 🙏🏻
