Let me leave it here. Does anyone think that the new OC could be worse than our last three seasons? I sure don't. I'll give him my support

Why is a good one hire ? Everyone clamoring on here he is just a great hire. They didn’t know his name before this thread stated. His track record as OC is abysmal. I was so excited about this OC hire, so many young dynamic OC out there that are lighting it on fire. I was just disappointed he was picked, that’s all. But JS is the coach, he gets to hire his staff. I wish and want only the best offense this guy can produce. If he does the job he gets paid to do and we score a lot of touchdowns I will be the happiest guy in the stands. If he fails again, I will still be happy about spending time at Troy with friends and family but disappointed majorly that our Trojans suck again. It’s time for Troy to become a perennial winner. All you Rudy’s want to talk about a good hire or bad hire, you can’t tell that on day one or even year one. Takes time to determine that (IE Coach O, Mullen, Kiffen at USC, Sark at USC, Frost at Nebraska or go the other way Pittman at Arkansas, Brandon Hall at Troy ( most of you wanted him gone after year one) Just sad the quick reaction most people on the board have. OCJC was OC under Chad Morris ( who ran the offense) Each year at SMU total Offense improved ( not sure of QB situation when he arrived. At Arkansas, QB1 had off the field issues and was suspended then transferred. ( tough to judge due to situation) He will have an opportunity to prove himself at Troy.

I will trust the ball coach until I have reason not to. I reluctantly did the same for head scratcher and it did not take him long to lose that trust.
Not a big name that a previous employer wanted to keep > Big name a previous employer chunked out like Thanksgiving scraps.

I get it, most on this board would come on here and defend JS no matter what he does. For instance, if JS burned down Sorrell Chapel , folks would come on here saying what a great motivation technique it is. It’s a message board, we can disagree or agree about Troy Football. But it stands that people have stated on this board that it’s a great hire and they didn’t even know the guys name. You point is well taken, especially on the example of Coach Hall, those same people wanted to run that guy out of town after year one. But he has a history, that must be accounted for. Coaching hires are all a roll of the dice. JS is not above oversight. Remember he getting paid a million dollars to win. It’s ok to discuss the football program here.

Has HCJS made the announcement/ hire or has Football Scoop taken on that role for the Troy Trojans Football Program. Just asking, but I would prefer it come from the horse’s mouth myself

I agree they are a roll of the dice. Coach with great record goes to another school, does poorly and is fired. Finds another job and is successful or vice versa. Sometimes it’s fit, sometimes its under lying issues that public is not aware of. Just makes no sense to run some down before they coach a game.

I trust HCJS ushering in a quality hire in OCJC until proven otherwise. The armchair comments by individuals here are truly telling of a disease we need a cure for.Im hoping some "W" cream is on the way.

Chad Morris called the shots on Offense. JC was basically a offensive General assistant. SMU fans will tell you this.
UAB wanted him as their OC. They noticed a improvement on that side of the ball when JC got there.
Let’s see what happens, it sure can’t be worse then what we have been doing lol.
Do we still not know the salary $$ pool for assistants?

Never settle.

Maybe he had all the right things sliding into place to make him the best choice of the interview pool. Kinda silly to assume someone like JS is going to make a lazy hire. Time will tell if he fits into the job or not, but it would be that way with anyone.

There is a simple issue at stake here: Once a plan is implemented (after careful consideration) it typically takes at least a beta test of that plan to see if one should change the design of the plan. As long as it was not insane in its implementation or design. HCJS has this one. The powers at be hired him to do this. It is not insane or poorly formalized at this point.

We could be the next Lane Kiffin, Steve Sark. Maybe. If any believes he is the best possible candidate available, can you prove it ?

A good proven OC with a track record of success. Who, give some names. Prove he the best OC candidate first. It’s circle logic. If you believe he is the best, that’s cool. It’s just a message board I think he is not the best. We’ll just have to wait and see, Let’s hope this roll of the dice is right on. I certainly hope and want it to be. Let’s win.

Your correct it is a message board and it’s fun to discuss things, my point is that you complain then offer no alternative. Let me help you. Man I’m not sure about this hire, I hope he proves my doubts wrong. I would have like to see a more experienced OC like John Grass. Your turn, name an alternative

Ugh. Looks like “home cookin, promise type” hire. He is not a good OC. Let’s hope he learned something in the one year as the UAB TE coach before being the OC for two years at the bottom of the entire FBS. My gosh! Guy hasn’t even signed the contract and people are already dropping negative comments! Give HCJS credit for knowing more about football and coaches than you do! Same people dogged out DCBH after year one. XDCBH stunk it up in year one. His story is a “most improved “.

So we have to have all the answers to every question before we post anything ? I’ll play Should have looked at Brennan Marion or Alex Atkins. How about giving a young black coach a shot, who is even more qualified that Joe Craddock. I’m sure your answer will be everyone is color blind and that shouldn’t be considered.

Has HCJS worked with Craddock before? Does he have some kind of connection? Sometimes it's more than what's on the resume. JS is a first time HC and I would guess he's also looking for people with which he'll know exactly what he's getting instead of taking shots with people he doesn't know.
