HCNB was as much about building team unity than X/Os . There was continuous team discipline , accountability and competition from the weight room through the classroom to the field of play.NB teams had been cultivated to love protect and endure each other.
Football games were just a small microcasm of his teams expression in growth.

Chan Gailey put in the same thing before I got to Troy and it was carried over to the staff and HC who were part of his staff. It made us champions on and off the field and still is a part of my life. I was blown away by the things Neal did as soon as he got here. They are sorely missed today.

This is Ho's last shameless bump for a while anyway. Maybe someone will pick up the mantle and carry on the tradition and keep hope alive. I am afraid the University does not see what's coming their way next fall - or even sooner. But who cares right? I'm just a guy that has invested way too much time and money making an effort to care. I go back to that game in Wisconsin...I chose to get to that game rather than get home earlier after two weeks in India - although Mrs. Ho still thinks I got home earlier than planned.
Thanks for the replies and comments. I need to take a break for a while. This has been too negative for my soul and I have real work to do.

OK so, Ho know that the current HC is still HC, but when that is not the case Ho will start the trouble. Next Head Coach: Derrick AnsleyWhy: He has an impressive resume of both college and professional coaching experience Career is on the rise; currently DC at Tennessee (last years defense was outstanding, this year not so much); DB Coach for the Raiders (complete turn-around for their DBs; under Gruden - which I would probably say a position coach workload in the NFL is equal to or more than a college coordinator), he also got rave reviews about this short stay there - from Gruden AND the media, results on the field too; DB Backs Coach at Bammer for two season before heading to Oakland; BOWL GAMES COACHED IN (7) 2020 TaxSlayer Gator Bowl – Tennessee 2018 CFP National Championship Game – Alabama 2018 CFP National Semifinal Sugar Bowl – Alabama 2017 CFP National Championship Game – Alabama 2016 CFP National Semifinal Peach Bowl – Alabama 2012 BCS National Championship Game – Alabama 2011 Citrus Bowl – Alabama Has coached 16 draft picks/6 1st rounders Intangibles: Played at Troy - and played well. Brought the TMTDM attitude every game every play including part of an incredible EIGHT play goal line stand against Corn our first year in DI - that's right four stops at the one followed by a turnover, then another four stops inside the 4. I will post a picture of the first fourth and goal stop - if I can. Teammates with Demarcus Ware and Osi Umenyouri - getting them involved more. Wife is also a Troy gal. Is from Tallasee. Might also bring Shelton Felton (former Troy DL and current UT DE coach), Shelton coached at Colquit County, GA during their run of domination in Georgia. He is only 38 - still young enough to relate. While there are other good names in the mix, Ho wants someone that will represent our school, our values and our family every time he makes a call to a recruit, every time he gives an interview and every time he goes out to dinner with his family. Derrick Ansley does that because he is one of us and while people will say that didn't work out for Bammer - Ho beg to differ. It means something to choose to play at Troy, play well at Troy and understand that we aren't Bammer. That things aren't handed to us. That it takes more effort to succeed than elsewhere. But we won't back down to anyone. Troy has or had so many strikes against it, but the culture is such that everyone expects to win and that just didn't start with Neal Brown. It started waaaay back to Chan Gailey...maybe even back to the Sym Byrd days. That whole crew started the ball rolling. Derrick took a chance with Troy. He was there when we were a 52.5 point underdog to Nebraska and walked off that field to a standing ovation from the Corn faithful. We should do likewise and hire him - it wouldn't be taking a chance though. We know his soul. Finally, Ho should preface that Derrick would be his first choice of HC even if any of the recent wave of political correctness hadn't happened. He is qualified period!!! With that said, it would be a historic move for Troy and the Sunbelt. More importantly, it would certainly get people to shift from talking about what just happened to what is about to happen. Pull the trigger and let's get back to stomping people. TMTDM Attitude: Just had to bring this back up. And while I certainly agree that there are other candidates in the mix, I would love Derrick to be the next Head Coach. He has earned it in every way possible.

Can't afford to lolly gag around...signing day is December 15thish...GaSouth already made a big splash hire. I figure Napier might be gone after this season and that clown at Myrtle Beach.

Regardless of who the hire is, next season likely a wash anyhow. Not too many Freshmen gonna come in here and put out this dumpster fire. The portal may be our best option, but "The Portal Giveth, and the Portal Taketh".

He's coached at the highest level...that'll sell our top players to hang around. Talent is there, just gotta stop the bleeding.
