I hate that we're in this position to begin with and I have nothing but contempt for West Virginia for it but here we are. I've asked before and I'll ask again who can we get at this point in time realistically?

Drinkwitz (App St), Houston (ECU), Yurcich (OC Ohio St), and Kingsbury (USC).

Give it to Vic just to keep him. And just forget about Wyoming. A losing proposition for anyone. LB turned it down when we were D-1AA. He will be lowballed on salary but a fixture as HC versus using us as a stepping stone and additional money above our current spend for HC will be available for assistants. Sumrall is making $350,000 at Ole Miss. Use some of that to bring him back as DC/Assistant HC. We once had a 28 y/o OC that ran a great offense. Find the next one. One that keeps his foot on the gas and doesn’t know how to use a brake. These guys are out there. Vic and Jon will find good position coaches. Hopefully this will help keep some we have.

If Brown has success at WVU, then in a few years, he'll be headed to one of the top 10 programs in the country. It's how things work. Can't blame WVU because someone wants to move up.

Here you go...
This didn't take long, but this is what our sources say is beginning to circulate around the Puskar Center: -- Coming with Brown from Troy: * Matt Moore (offensive coordinator/offensive line coach) * Sean Reagan (quarterbacks coach/co-offensive coordinator) * Vic Koenning (defensive coordinator/safeties) * Jordan Lesley (defensive line) The roles in parenthesis are their roles at Troy. Could be the same here. Could be different. The first three names are no surprise. Lesley probably isn't a surprise, either. Again, Brown didn't have to replace too many assistants after filling his initial staff. Just three. Lesley, a former Troy tight end, joined after Brown's first season. He was at EMCC before that. Coached Zeke Rose. Coached with Clint Trickett. He knows junior colleges. He's also been pretty good with the Trojans.

Seems like he is taking basically all of his top assistants with him, at least he is not taking T-Roy with him.

Because WVU stole our coach and has left us up the creek. I wanted Brown to stay. I don't care if WVW is a "more established program" or not bottom line is we got a raw deal. I'm so sick of this mentality we're just a feeder for the Power 5 Conferences who can come in anytime they want, take what they want and leave us with nothing. Yes, I'm angry about it. I'm even more angry that we just blindly accept this like this is the way it's supposed to be. We have to start all over with nothing now and everyone acts like this is no big deal. I want Troy to be more than a Group of 5 school. I want us to grow the University and the Program and just taking this on the chin isn't the way to do it.

So are you saying you would turn down $3,200,000 a year? If you would you are more man than anyone on this board. I don't like it either but if he wins at WVU then some SEC school will steal him for $5,000,000 a year. Its called free market capatalism

Brown was looking for another job when he signed his initial contract with us. He’s interviewed with anyone/everyone who has called. WVU finally offered and he took it. The blame is not on WVU. I trust they realize he’s already looking to leave them for a “better gig” as I type this. But I completely agree with your feelings on how we are used. Hopefully we find someone who sees us as truly relevant and stays to ensure we are.

I would hope our athletics department is working to retain at least some of those listed.

It’s part of the deal. We got these great coaches to coach here BELOW market value for four years, esp VK. They delivered 30+ wins, 3 bowl wins, solid recruiting classes, two major P5 scalps, a Top 25 ranking, overall enhanced brand awareness and thus an improved fanbase + we have much better facilities now. So now our AD can utilize Troy’s enhanced brand power to hire a new coaching staff. The low buyout sucks though but that’s a different story.
