If the Sun Belt decides to expand to a 12 team football conference who would you like to see join. I know there has been talks about Liberty joining but I don't know. I'd like to see UMass join just for that television market but travel would be a nightmare. I think Southern Miss and La Tech are natural fits but they like to play in CUSA so they can win some games.

Plus a trip to Nashvegas ever other year for be great.

Let's hope they're teams that are actually located in the Sun belt. Team travel costs out of our region are significant

Markets? ? Do someone mention markets? LOL! No offense but that was a CUSA laboratory experiment run in the ground. MTSU brings nothing in the way of fan support .LATECH and USM would be the only two to consider of even UAB and USM but please no MTSU let them have the Palladium

Liberty would be the obvious choice but two schools who could make the jump...but won't are Jax St and Chattanooga. Not sure what TUNA'S long term plans are either.

I thought Liberty was coming into the Sun Belt? I would like to see UAB play us in a conference rivalry game Liberty is independent. Haven't heard any plans yet. Problem is the Belt is really spread out for a mid major. Texas to Virginia is a big travel area. You would have Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and if Liberty..Virginia

And, that translates to mean fine facilities. Not much tradition playing football though. Yes, travel to Va. from the western schools would be a factor. Of the other schools listed in this thread, none strike me as any better than Liberty to join the conference. Is Vanderbilt tired of losing in the SEC yet?

Vandy is very competitive in basketball and especially baseball plus they get a cut of the SEC Network. They arent going anywhere

I can't speak for others but I don't believe we at Liberty have any interest whatsoever in the Sun Belt these days. Now that we have our place in FBS a membership in the SBC doesn't offer much value to us. Scheduling as an independent has been much easier than most assumed it would be.

Liberty is a fellow fundamentalist school. I know a guy from my HS that had a football scholarship to Liberty. Ended up transferring to Emory and Henry Va due to the strict rules at Liberty, Assuming it hasn't changed much since then. (Late 80s)

Jerry Falwell JR runs that school so it couldn't have changed that much. What kind of science do they teach there? You guys believe the earth was literally created in six days. Those kind of things can hurt your recruiting.

Those kind of things can hurt your recruiting. This is the kind of thing that people unfortunately believe about LU and is not true :/. The creationist class you are thinking about is still there but doesn't count toward college credits. We have the same accreditation as UVA Duke and Troy... Oh wait LU is accredited VI through Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges And Troy is V ๐. Our med, law, engineering, computer (ABEt) are all fully accredited. You can look up any particular school.
