Trap games (looking ahead) haven't seemed to pan out the way I thought they would. They do seem to be a myth. That said, let down games after a big win at Troy have been an issue, and could be idiosyncratic to our program. Hopefully Neal Brown & Co. are doing some different things this time around to keep our guys grounded. Smells a lot like when we beat APP though. Press clippings are being shot out of cannons. The S.I. article in particular labeling us as a giant killer is a huge distraction. Great time to be a Trojan, but I don't want to hear "Why do we always do this???" on Saturday.

What is our overall record against ULM? I know they have our number in Monroe. Just hope we come out on the good end of an expected dogfight IMO.

It's NEVER OK to lose. Wasn't it after the Clemson game that CNB said that? If he said it then, imagine how much more he means it now.

They did one small thing we should have. Won a 1-AA title when they were NE Louisiana. I'll go with 21-14 Troy but could go either way.

Our shot at winning a 1AA title disappeared on a frozen slab of dirt in Mizzlou, MT. It also bears pointing out, I think, that our window for winning that title was only about 10 seasons. I think we did pretty well in those 10 years. That's not to say we shouldn't have won a title, and I'm disappointed we didn't. Even still, I'm quite pleased with our time in 1AA. We were a dominant force in the Southland Conference (except for that 3-8 season in "97 or whenever it was). I've tried to purge that one from my memory.

Here is what happens after huge wins. You are at a emotional high and play at a high level. It drains you and it is hard to get up to that level the following week. Happens every season to all kinds of teams.

You are forgetting about arguably the greatest team in Troy history...the 1993 team. Led by the greatest Kelvin Simmons. Lost by 3 points in the 1-AA semi finals to Marshall in WV when the center snapped the shot gun snap when Kelvin was turned calling an audible. We were marching for the win when that happened. Better team than 1996 IMO

Mike was a great wishbone qb but Kelvin was more talented. Put Kelvin in our offense now and he shatters records. The 1993 team beats the 87 team. More talent, more scholarships and bigger and faster

There have been some epic 4th quarter battles with Monroe. They play us hard and this game is scary. Beer + BBQ + ESPN+ = enjoyment. The Early Conference 4th quarter scare games we pulled out last year.

As far as the Montana playoff game goes, the field was frozen and Troy didn't bring cleats to handle that as I remember. Some players I knew said they were sliding on that field like being on skates.

And whoever said Kelvin would be good on our current team is mistaken. He looked good against 1AA teams but we now have full blown D1 Qbs
