QB #1 goes 17-33 for 139 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. QB #2 goes 20-29 for 211 yards with one touchdown and one interception. One is Brandon Silvers against Boise State in 2017. The other is Kaleb Barker against Boise State in 2018. Care to guess which one is which? Good point. Where're the Moderators when things get too rational around here? PUleeze, remove this post ^^^^.

We completed 20 passes but they were bubble screens and mostly 4-5 yard dump passes. Stats can be misleading. If we can get the vertical pass game going like Boise had on us...all the difference in the world. We have qb's that can do it, now we just need to do it

The lack of pressure on Rypien was the difference in that game. The guy is a very good quarterback if you give him that much time with those receivers he will pick you apart. Pressure last year ran him from the game. Our offense will be fine. They are doing what they have done for several years.

I think Troy is down. Barker is not as good as Silvers. D might not be as good as last year. I think Brown will right the ship at the end of the season and we wind up in some bowl. I would prefer Tuscon AZ to Detroit if it comes down to it. Barker's first game and he was 20-29-1 (not sure I would count that int, that was on the receiver). First game as a starter and he completed 68.9%. Brandon averaged 70.5 his freshman year.
No deep ball options when Boise is REALLY good in the secondary. RB concerns are valid. Boise is REALLY good. Surf Report:Good morning, we Have partly cloudy skies, air temp is 77, water is 84, wind is blowing 10-15 mph with larger gusts out of the ENE. the high tide was at 4:56 am and the low tide will be at 4:21 pm. Surf is running waist to chest with bigger sets!!!

With our budget, geographic location and the fact that Troy ,Alabama is the smallest town in the US with an FBS school, Yes! We are an FCS school playing FBS football. These facts make it all the more remarkable that we win as many games as we do. I would ask that question to the likes of Paul Finebaum and Kirk Herbstreit and both men would concur. Because Troy University generally makes silk purses out of sows ears, that should be a source of pride. As for "Last Chance U" we were getting like that at the end of Blakeney's tenure. I think we have a coach presently that will not choose that direction.

For first Troy offensive play, perfect pass dropped. In later series, same receiver caught 35 yd pass down right sideline, but pushed off defender for O interference penalty. Play called back. Kaleb coulda, woulda shoulda been 22-29?? 211 yards divide by 20 completions = 10+ yd average. cornhole more concerned about receivers getting space, O-line gelling and sending Jabir-Frye into line; just too risky. Need to find a Jordan or Josh!! We'll be fine at QB, regardless who, when all else falls into place. Plenty of first game jitters.

All those stats are garbage. It's points on the scoreboard that count. <--- of which we scored 7 because of a lucky break and the rest were scored in garbage time. We were embarrassed on television at home and you know what you saw.... an unprepared football team.

We'll be fine at QB, regardless who, when all else falls into place. I believe Jacob Free would be a more viable option next season. Get a big, tall, strong armed pocket passer in a pro style set and we could do some damage on offense.

Half the people on here have no idea what they are even talking about
1. Sun belt doesn’t have a tie in with Detroit any longer so no we won’t be going there.
2. Ulala a loss? Has anyone been paying attention? They struggle to win 4 or 5 games now.
3. It’s 1 dissapointing loss to a probable undefeated team in the top 15 by seasons end. Chill out.

Also, stAte had a loss to instate FCS central Arkansas and still went on to win the SBC.... I see no reason why we can’t pick ourselves up after a loss to NY6 bowl darling Boise state.

“Never confuse a single defeat for a final defeat.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald- It’s one game and the first one of the season. There’s a lot of ball to be played yet. No-one has been invited to any bowl games in September and no conference has been decided yet either.

It's just laughable that you guys are comparing a four year starter to a guy that's played one game vs a really stout defense as if Barker won't get any better as the season goes on. The same people will be like "ok maybe he's not so bad" when we blow out FAMU, and start dumping on him again if he doesn't beat Nebraska. Give the kid a chance. It will take some time for the staff and players to settle into a gameplan with this personel.

It will take some time for the staff and players to settle into a gameplan with this personel. This. I said it in another post here and will continue to say it. Barker will be a really good QB no later than the second half of your conference season this year and probably earlier (barring injury). I understand most here had really high expectations after back to back really good seasons...but it was just unrealistic to think your QB would have great success in his first ever start against a top-25 team that damn near returned their entire starting defense (and backups) and finished in the top-25 of most FBS statistical categories last year. Hell, BSU's defense dominated an NFL draft pick (WSU QB Luke Falk) so badly last year that he was benched in our game and they made Oregon's Justin Herbert, who got some pre-season Heisman buzz this year look retarded in our bowl game...and this year's defense is being viewed as better than last year's by most BSU fans. Trust me, BSU has made a bunch of QB's with much more experience than Kaleb Barker look way worse than Barker played on Saturday (see your own Brandon Silvers against BSU last year) so just give the kid a chance to grow. Barker created a lot of problems for BSU despite almost never having time to stand in the pocket and he moved your team pretty consistently in the second half with BSU's starters still in. If you're going to point the blame on somebody offensively, I would look to your O-line. That is the position group that needs the most improvement from what I saw on Saturday. I'm sure those guys will make significant improvement as the season progresses since 4 of those guys were starters last year, but also keep in mind that BSU likely has two or three guys on their defensive line who will play in the NFL eventually...so your O-line's struggles are somewhat understandable.

It's college football. I can guarantee you that more people saw Georgia get beat 40-17 and Ohio State get beat 55-24 last year than those who watched our game. The important thing is being able to recover. Bashing the coaches and players won't overturn the result of the game, nor will it help anyone going forward. Our new goal is 11-1.

Something kept nagging at me reading many of the semi-negative to negative posts. Then I finally realized it was the movie “The Help” Yep that is it......You know where Viola Davis says to the little girl “You is smart, You is Precious, you is Special”.....or something like that.....Well just think if GoTroyGo or some others played Viola’s role....It would go something like this....: You is homely, you is stupid, you is pudgy and you will never be anything. You might as well end it all now.”Yep the movie would have had a bit different feel to it. Naysayers are fine even in a fan forum but Barker and others should be given a little time before you tell them to go back to high school cause they is stupid they is bad and they is stinking it up. I take it none of you negative Nancy’s are motivational speakers

I could say I think we'll beat Auburn and Alabama to win the National Championship. Or, I could be realistic and say we do very well for a smaller school, got beaten this weekend comprehensively by a bigger program. All said, Troy had an incredible year last season, and might take a step back, but we should make it to a bowl game. Getting to a bowl game is still a successful year for Troy. New Orleans and not Sugar Bowl for the realists.
