I just turned on the replay. Wife just yelled at me... "Why are you doing that to yourself?" As painful as it sometimes is, watching the replay can help to exorcise demons and change one's opinion of game events/player performances. Here are two examples from last night's game. I came away really upset at how many passes were over thrown and completely dumbfounded that Silvers would hit a D lineman in the shins with a pass. As I watched the replay, I saw that while some passes were overthrown, several more could and should have been caught, even though they were a bit high. That realization didn't change my opinion of the game, but it softened my criticism of Silvers a bit. As to the pass in the shins, replay showed that to be a wide receiver screen that the DE read and busted. He stopped dead still on a direct line between Silvers and the receiver, Silvers had 3 options: 1) Tuck and run - would likely have resulted in lost yardage 2) Throw it away out of bounds - viable option but there is a risk of the pass being tipped and picked for 6 on the sideline 3) Fire it at the feet of the DE - again a viable option with little risk. That DE wasn't going to react in time to pick that rifle shot of his shoe tops. Silvers chose option 3, no harm no foul, therefore my thoughts went from wondering what in the world was Silvers doing to recognizing that he saw the defense had blown up the play and took action to that allowed him to live to fight another day. Tell your wife that, in the end, rewatching the game will be cathartic. Good observation.

Silvers has been throwing high all season. CR started doing that also. Usually mechanics cause this like throwing off back foot. I've not been impressed with our qb coaching since (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) left. CR throwing mechanics were God awful (sidearm). There were several passes Silvers threw that did hit the recievers in the hands but 90% were way high and those are tough to bring down sometimes. He's got to get some of those throws down to make them more catchable. He is also over throwing a lot of open recievers. He has the size and arm, it's just a matter of mechanics and confidence 90% were way high? Really?

90% were way high? Really? Yes, really. More like 90% of the ones not caught. 90% is drastic considering that Silvers went 24-for-46 which is 52% passing. Indeed 90% of the incomplete were long or high. 5% hit our guys in the hands and 5% were just plain "What the huh" scenarios. This high and long stuff has reared its ugly head in some key times over the past few years and led to some L's. But, just like that he can reel it in and be on the money. He did Wednesday in the 4th but it was too late.

The vast majority of his completions are bubble screens or quick slants The drive-in the fourth was against a zone coverage not tight man
