why would you attempt a long FG when we can’t make short ones? CNB didn’t want to go for it but he kinda had no choice. If we got it you’d be that “fan” praising him for the decision Sir, you do not know me or if I am a "fan" or not mmkay. If you cant make makeable field goals and you have 11 yards left then punt it and try to stick them close. The game/conference title was not on the line like it was in Murfreesboro in 2006 when we went for it on 4th and 19. Member that? you said why didn’t we attempt points? You never mentioned punting the ball. If I recall they didn’t score that drive either so no harm. You’re right the game/conference wasn’t on the line but in a month it could be and if we find ourselves in a 4th and 11 then we have experienced it before. CNB is all about putting the players in situations and seeing how they react because they will come up again.

With our large international student body, not one of these guys coming from overseas (where soccer is the only sport and every kids plays it) can be recruited to walk on and try out ? Soccer is the only sport overseas? Really??

With our large international student body, not one of these guys coming from overseas (where soccer is the only sport and every kids plays it) can be recruited to walk on and try out ? Ehhh.... Kicking a soccer ball and a football are not the same. If you gave Christiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi a football and told them to kick a 35-yarder they would even have a tough time getting it through the up rights and they're the best soccer players in the world. You don't see the NFL pulling guys away from the MLS to kick a few PATs for them when they're having kicking trouble...
But yes, you do see guys come up from Australia to punt these days, but that's because Australian Rules Football is a game is based around punting with a similar shaped ball so the skills do translate better into the American game.
you are right and you are wrong. Yes kicking between the two is different but moving over to kicking a football can be taught and executed rather quickly. I see another poster gave an example already. I have also seen that same scenario with my nephew’s team. A kid come over and in the same week kicked a 40 yarder. He kicked the rest of the season only missing one. Regardless what else do you have. The coach is going for it in extreme circumstances because he doesn’t even have faith in any kicker even making a PAT

Yes, soccer is the vast vast majority played sport outside the US and Canada. It is played by everyone else in the world by overwhelming numbers. Would you care to volunteer the other sports that are close ? Please understand the rest of the world calls it football not soccer. Smh

Ever seen the Olympics, plenty of other sports played in other countries. I wasn't trying to smart mouth you like you think, just trying to understand what you were saying.

Underwood is a Jr and has kicked 3 pointers in the Boise and Akron games that I know of but probably done more. Why in GOD's name are we letting the drummer from Hanson kick? I mean d*mn! Call the soccer coach. Plum embarrassing! And that's just the way he looks! We were awful across the board last night but going for it on 4th and 11 instead of attempting the points when down is busch league. This was one of a bunch of questions last nights game concocted. “WHY” was the question I kept hearing from our crowd of former players. Why throw almost every play the first half? Why is Chunn not being utilized? Why do you fair catch a punt on the 2yard line? Why can’t the line Bloch more efficiently? Why do we never throw do we be ver the middle? Why did we not make changes at halftime? Why do you ATTEMPT to kick a field goal on 4 down late in the 4 th quarter when you have a kicker who hasn’t come close all night and you trail by 11. One would think it would have to be easier to tie if you can make the TD and go for the field goal later. Odds either way by then were slim and none that we could do both, we hadn’t gone much of either all night. Summary? DARN SHOCKING EXHIBITION ON NATIONAL TV!

There’s a reason these fans aren’t coaches. Just sit back and watch. If CNB wants your help he will ask.

Head Coach is directly responsible for almost every question. Fielding a punt on the one yard line is just utter and complete lack of focus and coaching. The last high school I coached at we had a former NFL player on staff that did returns in the NFL. I seen him drill over and over with the punt returner " you put your feet on the 10 yard line and never go back only forward. If the kick goes over your head on the 10 you have a 99% chance it goes in the end zone

Do you want to keep running the ball when the box was loaded and get 1 yard or keep fumbling?

Heavy blitzes on a lot of drop backs and some key drops. Like the back shoulder near the end of the game in the end zone and then a big 3rd down drop after we stopped south on their 4th down try

My nephew was Sumpter's long snapper at Spain Park. I sent him a text during the game and asked if Tyler could place kick. He said YES (I seem to recall he kicked some for SP that were out of range for their place kicker), just needs to hone his accuracy. He said he has a strong leg (which we've seen). I say, give him a shot. It can't get any worse.

Speaking of other sports in the world get a rugby player. If he misses it I bet nobody would taunt him. Be pretty fun to watch on kickoffs too.

We dropped some passes but Silvers throws the ball to high a awful amount. Hard to bring in some of those high throws. He also threw some that should have been picked. We threw into double coverage a lot and my Lord if we ever threw a pass to the TE he could walk into the end zone. I don't even think they cover him

They set up that kids and the team to fail. Poor play calling, poor personnel choices, poor (or no) adjustments, etc.
