Was it our defense or your QB. Depends on which team you root for. Our QB didn't have his normal game either. Did the offense not take care of the ball or did the defense force fumbles? Again, it depends on which team you root for.
What I saw was two very good teams playing in a very tough game. Both teams had advantages and weaknesses against the other. Both teams made adjustments to exploit advantages and eliminated weaknesses. And both team's players played every down to the final whistle. It's the type of game I enjoy watching.

Not taking anything from your D, they played a solid game. Mullens has lost most of the "big games" he's played in, not all but most. He folds under pressure and throws picks. I attributed it to a learning curve the last two years but in all 3 games this year, he's throwing picks/ball at ankles/not seeing wide open receivers, throwing lasers when some arc is needed, etc. It's just not play indicative of a 4th year starter. He's a great kid and a student of the game and tough as nails. But he seems to have regressed. It's not pleasant to watch. I realize he's human and can't make every throw but it appears he and the new staff are nowhere near being on the same page. It could be losing his two best receivers or a lack of faith in his two brand new OTs...IDK but we expected more stability from him. We don't need a superstar, just consistent smart play. Yah, I was puzzled by 3 being benched and was happy to see that. He had nice touch on the ball when he needed it but we seemed to key on his ability to scamper. I like the looks of that kid and had hoped he would get a stomach virus right before kickoff! LOL Obviously, the backup is very serviceable as well. Beat our azz...
