Below are my impressions from today's game experience.
1) TROJAN Walk was awesome. I love the fact that the team was wearing slacks and polo shirts. I'm ok with or without the blazers, but the team looked sharp. 2) There was a nice crowd and the student section showed up and stayed late. I didn't hear official attendance number, but I'm guessing 20,000 or so. The fans showed up today. 3) We are MUCH more disciplined than last year. Though we had several personal foul calls go against us, they were almost all unsportsmanlike penalties for excessive celebration. The result of youthful exuberance, these can and need to be reduced. 4) Speaking of youthful exuberance, the team energy and involvement in the game was significantly greater than we've seen the last few years. Good job, coaches. 5) On the post game radio show it was said that CSU lacked 2 seconds having exactly double the time of possession as TROY. While great that the offense can strike quickly, which we did multiple times, the inability to put together sustained drives will bite us at some point this season. We must find a way to shorten our opponents' game. 6) Finally, I'm going after the sacred cow. First, however, I'll issue a disclaimer. I enjoy The Sound of the South. I enjoy music, I enjoy the half time shows and I think the SOTS adds greatly to the spirit and game experience by playing in the stands. It is not, however, necessary to play after EVERY SINGLE PLAY. There were multiple times tonight that crucial information such as penalty explanations or replay review results were overpowered by the band and unheard by me and those around me. Whoever calls for the between the plays music needs to be more aware of the game situation and not play over officials' explanations.
Overall, it was a great day. The team has some work to do but is vastly improved. I look forward to conference play.

Thought attendance looked weak. It was a beautiful night with zero weather issues. Thought there would be more.
It is totally amazing to see the positive energy from this team. The difference from previous years is stark. 100% due to new coaching, CNB. (Did not realize how far we had fallen)
Both teams had 374 total yards. Interesting. Will have to out score some teams later in order to win. Need to recruit some size and speed on defense.
Good Trojan win.

If VMS seats 30,000 and these pictures are from Saturday (they are, by the way) there is NO WAY attendance was only 17,500ish.

Was told the Home Side was pretty sparse in places. Have not seen any pics of that side.

One of them is, one of them is not. Thanks for clarifying. I'm guessing home side was not very full then. No problem. If you notice, the one taken from the end zone, there is no video board in the south east corner. And there's a bulldog on the sidelines... Troy vs Miss State For Saturday, the lower home section seemed ok, but I think the upper deck was pretty barren

Was told the Home Side was pretty sparse in places. Have not seen any pics of that side. Was trying to take a photo of the clouds WITHOUT getting the home stands...you can see why. SOTS already on the field and players about to go into the locker room, so about 15 minutes before kick

Thats probably closer to 30 minutes before kickoff since the pregame show usually starts about 25 min before kickoff. We sit in 210 below the walkway and our section was probably over half full by kickoff.

Looks like more than 17,000 to me I was there and it seemed like closer to 20,000 to me, but I never got a great look at the upper deck on the home side. It sure felt like more were there. I think the student section was good for it being CSU and not a rival game or a big name team we were playing.

So I fell for it. Begs the question why would one of our own try to convince us the attendance was larger by using pics from MS. State?1st pic is CSU as I can see some of their players, but the second is obviously from another game.

Uh, pretty clear the teams are on the field and the clock reads 37 minutes until kickoff.

Guys it was the upper home side.....no one in the Northern part and sparse in and thru the rest.......Lower section not bad nor was the visitor side and with the bands in the South.endzone....but overall somewhat disappointed with 17.5K However, Band Day usually has about 3000 and so parents attached to that.....this time stated that field had about 1500 on it instead of 3500 so about 2K short and with parents not in stands about 4K short overall......so that was disappointing too........However, USA coming I would guess that they will bring 3-4K and we will have about the same or maybe a tad more as base......so guessing we will see about 20K at that game and maybe 22K and if by miracle we win at Wisconsin we see that jump by about 3K more.....
I know the data is out there but it would be safe to say that over the past few years I think we have lost a good many season ticket holders......WHY do I guess that? Because you can quote season ticket sales along with attendance as far as numbers are concerned so when I see a 17.5 quoted and there were about that many there......well most season ticket holders must have shown up.....just my way of looking at it.....but our folks have done a great job at promoting this seasons 5 games to maximize our attendance....
Homecoming will be pretty good, USA as above, ULM who knows and the GS game with their fans and I believe that day is also a reunion for the SOS so likely will be one of our best attended late games in years......and if we are playing well may well have best attendance of season...

The click on this photo shows 37.05 minutes until game time or it was taken about 5:15-5:30 since that clock is not official. The home side had many more fans than show in this photo. That being said, sadly the home crowd was sparse. Had it not been Band Day it would have been worse but there was not that many bands here this year. Guess it's because Auburn had band day Saturdsy as well.

Attendance numbers are baffling. They announce 17,000 Saturday but last year at either the NMSU game or App st game there was no way there was over 4,000 there and they announced 15,000. Hard to tell what's accurate. I've heard it goes by tickets sold not buts in the stands

I was at the game... Your first pic is correct. But show the other end of the visitor side and you will see empty seats. And there's no way that 2nd picture was this past Saturday... The home side looked pathetic. 17,517 was accurate... The student section looked VERY GOOD but that was about it. Had it not been band day we would have been looking at 15,000

I too was at the game and the attendance was 17,486. I counted every one. Three people left while I was counting and only one came back. There -- now it's settled!
