Does anyone know why the football offices are moving into the 5th floor of the stadium?

Remodeling the current coaches' offices in Tine Davis.

Thanks Hemi Man. With the new end zone facility expected within the next few seasons, I wonder why they are doing the remodeling now? It seems like these improvements were well overdue and should of been done years ago. Is the plan to reuse the fieldhouse for other uses once the end zone facility is built?

Probably remodeling for the new coaches. New carpet and and paint and such probably. Gotta get rid of all the old coaches stuff and such too.

You are correct it is long long overdue. Not sure of the exact use of Tine Davis after the new facility is built, but the renovations won't go to waste.

The fifth floor houses the media relations staff, the press box, radio booth and a variety of suites. I would guess the coaches would just make do in the suites as offices until the renovation is complete.

Don't' get me wrong, I'm thrilled with all of this program investment, but where are we getting all of the money from for the increases in coaching budget and facilities? The last few years, it seemed we were the sister's of the poor - not to be confused with Sister's the restaurant.

I wouldn't be surprised if JH was saving a bunch of money and just waiting to use it, cause he knew that CLB and staff wouldn't last forever.

No doubt we have to up our financial commitments personally to the athletic department if we want this thing to be a success. My point is, we cannot get complacent as a fan base when we reach the top again, and it will only be a matter of time until we are there again.

From what I was told that they are gutting the that area and completely redoing it. Moving them all to the 5th floor and then moving back when its done.

Lots of good thoughts here guys.
Remember the mantra "Do more with Less". There's nothing wrong with it. It's a great thing in the business world. However, you would never, under any circumstances tell the people finding your business how you have done so much with so little. You would likely say look what we got done, but we can reach the next level with this much more funding. There's no telling how many potential donors were steered Way by that phrase being uttered. That's where complacency began.

I don't think it was Hartwell, the funding for football started long before he was in place. Fact >> When Steve Dennis "retired" we had less than $800,000 in contributions toward the "Match" required to get funding for the end zone project. I do not know where that match stands at the present, but ample funding is apparently available for Coaches, recruiting etc. As a matter of fact, I remember CLB stating two years ago that he could recruit anywhere he felt necessary. As far as JH saving a bunch of money, I doubt it. Increased funding is a priority setting/budgeting process and takes a minimum of a year (or more) to effect change. John has only been the DA 2 1/2 years now. Regardless, I'm thrilled and excited about the future of Trojan Football.

This is a very exciting time for us indeed. We as a again base definitely need to step up with our donations. We are making a significant jump in coaching staff salaries between Coach Brown's staff and and Coach Blakeney's staff. This is a jump of at least $500,000 or over 35 % increase - sorry, the number nerd in me is coming out. In this age of balancing the budget, we need to make sure we don't bankrupt ourselves. In order to meet these increases, we need to increase our donations and financial support greatly in order to keep up with these changes.

He and his staff just got very lazy the last five years. Hope the hold over coaches don't keep the negativity from the last five years with them going forward.

Yep, why invest in the "old broken down Pontiac with a failing transmission" that was the CLB staff and program the last five years. That would have been throwing good money away after bad.

If they're negative about it right now, the grinch in them won't be around for very long. They're getting a second shot with a much better staff than they have had to back them up.

The last few years, it seemed we were the sister's of the poor - not to be confused with Sister's the restaurant. In all honesty I wonder if it isn't directly from unrestricted giving to the Trojan Warrior Fund? Money given without designation goes directly to wherever the athletic department administration sees fit. I can't think of there being a bigger need than an increase of the salary pool for assistant football coaches and at least freshening up of Tine Davis.

Maybe Coach Blakeney had already been conditioned with the financial restraints of the program that were imposed upon him. There is examples all across the country of university presidents who become jealous of athletic coaches or figure heads who surpass them in popularity or recognition. Just a theory here, but with the success that we had during our championship run and the lack of investment back into the program, I think someone may have become a little jealous.

If this was solely raised by the Trojan Warrior Fund than the sky may be the limit with the infancy of this program.

I don't know how much is in the unrestricted part of the Warrior Program, but I'm sure some of that money is used in just that way.
