I've seen glimpses, highlights, and big plays, but rarely all on the same day. It's not the absolute best right now, but this work-in-progress is starting to live up to its potential. I was very impressed by this defense most of the game, with the exception of a few chunk plays and some coverage snafus. We've gone from no defense, to some defense, to now that's a defense! It's been a long time coming, but the fable is just now being written. I'm going to love how this story ends...

Sometimes "improvements" are the results of the quality of the opponent and their talents. This week shouldn't give us any indicators but ULL, SoAl and GaSo sure will.

We have held our last two opponents under 30 points and was damn close to holding them both under 20 points!
I can't remember last time we did that!

That wasn't a bad team that came to Troy yesterday. They lost to Ga Sou by 8 and outgained them 80 yds and 8 1st downs. There isn't much difference in how the 2 seasons have gone, except the were undefeated heading into their 3rd week. Lost to an $EC team, big...lost to an in-state rival. Lost a league game they probably should've won...

They played well but that might be the worst passing QB in fbs, he was horrible . How he missed that receiver wide open in the closed end zone is beyond me, one of his lineman could have made the throw. I will say Stadom is a beast. My seats are in the end zone and their wee huge holes opened up on the interior and he made plays from his end position. He was all over the field. Outstanding hustle

We still need a passing game, we aren't going to beat good teams with 40 bubble screens a game . Silvers looked good but the way we are running this offense right now is tailor made for Pruitt?? I know I of two plays where he would have been off to the races

You're preaching to the choir right now. I just knew he'd get some PT on homecoming, especially when Silvers was getting up slowly in the 2nd half.

But I agree with you the way we are running this offense he needs to get some reps. I am still worried that we can't throw down field. The other thing I know the run was there but if we have to score quick?? I think we were burning 7 minutes a drive

As has been stated by coaches on several occasions. We have a starting quarterback. That battle has been settled. Allowing Silvers to get in a rhythm is probably a good thing for the offense.

Silvers has proven his worth as the starter IMO. He did well yesterday..
OH! btw Silvers set a school record yesterday by not throwing a interception in his first 118 pass atts of career. (He did throw 1 interception against NMSU but the record had already been set before that.)
Hes a pretty accurate passer especially in shorter yard ranges (15 yards and under) Over time I think he will become more comfortable and accurate in the deep pass. Hes pretty close to connecting now.

He played well. He needs to learn to get down because he's taking some shots and he's not built like Cam or Tebow. I am surprised be haven't seen Pruitt in at least a wildcat play??

Hes pretty close to connecting now. He throws bubble screen well. We must throw that 30 times a game. The record was a bit misleading because both Levi and CR threw downfield drastically more than we are right now. I'm hoping we can start throwing vertical. Were going to have to if we need to score quick. We were ball control sat which is great when your d plays well

I thought the O Line was the biggest difference. When Brandon had time to step and throw, he was deadly. On the deep routes, I thought it showed a lack of arm strength. He missed Teddy, BJ and Chandler on WIDE OPEN ROUTES, and just didn't get the ball to them. Might be the reason for the vertical game being less and less. BTW, I am a fan of "dink and dunk", just got to break one tackle, but have to get the ball there FAST. I think his strength will improve in time.
I MUST keep reminding myself that (1) he is a Redshirt Freshman and (2) and most importantly, he doesn't have the same weapons that Levi or Cory had, especially in their Jr and Sr years.
Let's just improve this week. Win against App St and what happens.

360 yards rushing makes every defense better.....I like it,even if the QB position has to pitch in and play 11 on 11 tackle football....We just gave APP another day of material to figure out

I get it that Silvers is suppose to be our future QB but unless his downfield throws get a LOT better we will have to abandon the spread. We virtually never throw across the middle nor deep down the middle. If running the QB is our game plan now then Pruiitt seems to hold the edge yet he never played anymore. That's strange given the schollys we gave out for that position. 4 on scholarship and one playing.

Tyler Roberts, best defensive player on the field. He had a heck of a game and always seems to find a way to shed his blockers and get in the play.

Could possibly be that Silvers is just making better decisions and that they wanted to get him comfortable and in a groove. Maybe they saw something in Pruitt at Georgia that told them he wasn't ready? Not in the result, but in the execution and or decision making.

Coaches get paid to coach, and they have decided he was better.

Roberts and Stadom play well together...they get to the QB like Addison and Massaqoui They both play all out every play. Very impressed. Stadom saved some plays that would have been long runs. Having him three more seasons is exciting.

You're right...I'm pretty sure there are 5 on schollies and 2 walk-ons... On a different subject, I had a interesting conversation with three former players that all came to Troy via JUCO. What they were talking about was interesting. To them if you are signed out of JUCO you are supposed to come in and start. They have you for two years and are using a scholly for two vs four years. They can't understand how we signed 14 JUCO players, all but three on the D side and two at QB yet only one started on D and one on offense and neither qb is even playing. Their answer was we are misjudging talent?? I don't know, this came from former JUCO players but it gets you thinking?
