I heard Barry McKnight bash the city of Troy a couple of years ago on the John and Barry show when Lee Sterling (paramountsports) was coming up for a game from Florida. Lee ask about a good restaurant to eat at while in Troy. Barry paused and sarcastically said Waffle House is about all there is. This was before Chic fil A was there. I can think of several restaurants off the top of my head: Sisters Restaurant, Momma Goldberg's Deli, Santa Fe Cattle Company, and Country's Barbecue to name a few. I also don't like his style of play calling. I prefer someone who doesn't take so long to describe what is happening on the field and someone who actually likes Troy.
I think Barry McKnight is a hired hand who really doesn't care if Troy wins or loses. He is an Auburn window licker.
Who would you guys like to replace Barry in the future.

Knowing Barry on a personal level l I can assure you the man has a great deal of passion for Troy and Troy people. I've made similar comments myself. Certainly doesn't mean I'm negative about Troy. Someone coming from south Florida might find the selection in Troy quite bland. Most people aren't usually looking for a chain restaurant when asking for recommendations.
You are one of two people I've ever heard that didn't care for Barry's work. I think he's very good st what he does.
I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

I consider Barry a friend and I think what you are saying is ridiculous. From a business standpoint, he is a Troy resident who is all in when it comes to things going on in Troy, Troy gets more pub on a very popular sports radio show because he is a co-host. You can't buy that type of publicity. As for the comments about the restaurants "a couple of years ago," really... now you want to complain about it?! When you are dealing with a radio or TV program who has customers that pay good money to advertise, you have to be very choosy with your words. I don't remember that call but I'm sure he meant no harm since he frequents Troy eateries on a regular basis. As a man, Barry is as nice a guy as you could meet and I'm sure he would prefer that you email your concerns to him rather than bash him under an anonymous name on a message board.
What's next, you don't like the Troy logo or the quad or a building on campus? For the record, Hooks BBQ and Half Shell are the best eateries in town!

Barry is a class act. I was concerned we might lose him to the SEC network, but he is staying with Troy...for now. To answer your question about whether we would like to replace him... for me the answer is not just no, but HECK NO!

Barry McKnight is one of the best broadcasters on the air. Always professional and knowledgable no matter which sport he is covering. I heard Barry speak one night to some incoming freshman and area alumni. He was so passionate about Troy that when he finished several alumni wanted to go back to school. There is no finer an ambassador for Troy University and we are fortunate to have him.

Would add Sips on the Square, Rodeo, and the Brick. I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

You registered just to bash Barry McKnight? We finally get a troll and it's not even a good one. I miss the old Mr. Ho.
I'm gonna play along.
If the question was "Where is somewhere to eat AFTER a Troy game," well then to the W-House it is, unless you wanna sit in Ye Ole Chain Hamburger Chain's drive thru for 30 minutes.
Barry is all Troy and I've considered him a personal friend and friend of my family since the very first day I met him.
3/10 OP. Come back with something stronger.
Other than the places Hemi mentioned I'll throw in a steak with a side skewer of shrimp from Mossy Grove.

Sisters Restaurant, Momma Goldberg's Deli, Santa Fe Cattle Company, and Country's Barbecue 1. Meh. 2. Great place for some sammiches. Head over to Milky Moos for dessert after. 3. Great on Tuesdays! 4. Only if Hooks blows up.

I don't know why everyone raves about Sisters. It's not bad, but not that great either.
I have never been a fan of Country's BBQ... not just in Troy, but any Country's.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I feel the same way about both places. I guess I'm not a fan of the Sisters buffet because I prefer restaurants where the goal isn't to try and shove as much food in my mouth as possible so they lose money on my visit. Country's is ok for hamburger steak, but it takes forever. The real BBQ is further down 231.

The Dream chopped his way throw college at Hook's. I can vouch that the pork that comes from that little green building is far superior than anything else. If it was good enough for the The Dream, then it is more than good enough for you!!!

I just have to read it. And in my day before Dolby 7.1 and Super HD, you couldn't hear the difference in the two words. But I meant it was an extension of time to drive down 231 of course.

First, Troy out kicked its coverage when Barry was hired. That kick still isn't covered. Barry appears to me to be a consumate professional and a supporter of all things Troy!
As far as journalist go, I was taught that in our part of the country you should write for readers at a 6th grade level. So I guess the whole farther/further, affect/effect, prostrate/prostate argument is moot (or is it mute?)!

Most of the places I used to eat at have all been bulldozed or closed due to health concerns.

Hey guys thanks for some of the other good eating establishments like Hooks BBQ and Half Shell. I will check them out, but that just backs up my case even more. Why didn’t he name these two fine restaurants back then? I’ll tell you why because he is an Auburn window licker. He did live in Auburn when he made that statement, but I’m not sure where he lives now, because I haven’t listened to John and Barry for a while now, but Troy needs a Larry Munson type play caller a real Troy homer in my opinion. I’m just a Troy fan with my own opinion. I will say that Barry is very professional at what he does except for football play calling. He just drags things out too long after a play. He needs to take some lessons from Florida State’s play by play guy. I say let him do all the other sports except football.

From the man himself: I remember the call from Lee Sterling. Our radio crew always eats at Waffle House after a 6p game. All that's open! No bashing

Also I once heard AmericanDream ask someone if they could be more "pacific" with their answer.

The only criticism I have of Barry is that he uses poor judgement when choosing baggage handlers.
