AP, CMS, APA...I jumped from one to another during my time on University Ave. I thought it was AWA, WCW, and NWA ? I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

Hey guys thanks for some of the other good eating establishments like Hooks BBQ and Half Shell. I will check them out, but that just backs up my case even more. Why didn’t he name these two fine restaurants back then? I’ll tell you why because he is an Auburn window licker. He did live in Auburn when he made that statement, but I’m not sure where he lives now, because I haven’t listened to John and Barry for a while now, but Troy needs a Larry Munson type play caller a real Troy homer in my opinion. I’m just a Troy fan with my own opinion. I will say that Barry is very professional at what he does except for football play calling. He just drags things out too long after a play. He needs to take some lessons from Florida State’s play by play guy. I say let him do all the other sports except football. Obviously you have some kind of personal issue with the man. He's a Trojan. A great Trojan. I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses.

What a weak excuse for a thread. I moved back to AL after having lived in the metro-Atlanta area for far too long. We chose to move to Troy. The wife and I each work from home and could literally live anywhere we wanted. The closest thing approaching a complaint I have is the lack of good food variety. But, it's a small town and I'm smart enough to have expected that beforehand. It doesn't get much better than Bee Mac Night in my book. You like someone else better? Fine. That's your opinion and your constitutionally afforded the right to be wrong.
Lighten up Francis.

"This was before Chic fil A was there. I can think of several restaurants off the top of my head: Sisters Restaurant, Momma Goldberg's Deli, Santa Fe Cattle Company, and Country's Barbecue to name a few."
Woof! That's a bad list. It kind of shows Troy is no culinary mecca. A bunch of mediocre chains and two local joints. Not to say I didn't eat at all of these (except Momma Goldberg's - never been there)plenty of times.
That said, I do LOVE Sister's. I think it's the best country cooking I've ever had from a restaurant. I still crave it from time to time. Country's sucks - every single thing Hook's does is better. Ok, but Country's has a pretty good buttermilk pie.
For me, the only restaurants worth their salt are: 1. Sister's 2. Mossy Grove 3. Hook's 4. Crowe's 5. Various chains
I can't stand Half Shell - I come from a Gulf town and it's just a sorry excuse for seafood. I'd rather just wait 'til I got in sight of the ocean again.
I used to eat at Manarca's and La Perote the most, but they're nothing special.
What's the opinion of the Buffalos/Buffalo Jacks'/ super pro-TROY restaurant in whatever iteration it's in now?

Golden Crane is pretty good (their Ika is very good to me as is the beef udon soup...sushi is just "ok"), Sips on the Square probably has the best food in town and draft beer (the owners are the reason Troy has draft beer now), Monarcas is usually good, Santa Fe is hit and miss as is the Half Shell and Ruby Tuesdays, haven't been to Mossy Grove in years but it wasn't good the last time I went there (even thought it had been consistently good for years), Trojan Zone has the best wings in town and really good burgers, if you want to grill out, Ingram's now has prime steaks, Hooks has very good barbecue and chicken...as far as Barry, I'm sure we could always get Ralph Black to come back and call the games: "Merciful Heavens!"

This thread is what we get for being soon to be 0-4 and having play calling that a blind gorilla could improve on.
A random thread discussing bad options of more random crap.

Can't believe Rodeo hasn't been mentioned. They've got the best mexican in town. Plus good draft beer and margaritas!

Hemi called it on page 1. Perfect spot for a baseball postgame gathering. I guess I should read better! Hemi is a smart one then Rodeo is probably the place we eat most often in Troy, followed closely by Hook's and Huddle House. As far as Hemi being a smart one. I don't know if I would go that far!

For the record, Hooks BBQ and Half Shell are the best eateries in town! I miss the Half Shell! Probably haven't eaten there in 15 or so years. Might have to rectify that at homecoming. Do they still have crawfish? I used to order it by the pound! So dang good!!! Mossy Oak was always good too. You could always almost fill up there on just the "fixins".

I personally enjoy Barry's call of all the games he covers. He is a stand up guy and one of the best in the business at least in my opinion.
And I love his "Touchdown Men of TROY!" call.

If the question was "Where is somewhere to eat AFTER a Troy game," well then to the W-House it is, unless you wanna sit in Ye Ole Chain Hamburger Chain's drive thru for 30 minutes. I would take Huddle House over Waffle House just because of the smoking. I'm not a smoker. And it was a little cleaner. Or if you're staying in Ozark, head a few minutes further down the road and try Waffle King. Not much to look at and kinda scary at night, but some of the best bacon and pancakes I've had in a long time.

I consider Barry a friend and I think what you are saying is ridiculous. From a business standpoint, he is a Troy resident who is all in when it comes to things going on in Troy, Troy gets more pub on a very popular sports radio show because he is a co-host. You can't buy that type of publicity. As for the comments about the restaurants "a couple of years ago," really... now you want to complain about it?! When you are dealing with a radio or TV program who has customers that pay good money to advertise, you have to be very choosy with your words. I don't remember that call but I'm sure he meant no harm since he frequents Troy eateries on a regular basis. As a man, Barry is as nice a guy as you could meet and I'm sure he would prefer that you email your concerns to him rather than bash him under an anonymous name on a message board. What's next, you don't like the Troy logo or the quad or a building on campus? For the record, Hooks BBQ and Half Shell are the best eateries in town! Love me some Hooks. Would add Sips on the Square, Rodeo, and the Brick. I'm not a Troy fan because of wins and losses. Hemi, I'll give you Half Shell, I like it as well but help me understand Hooks!:-) When I go out to eat, other than fast food, I don't want styrofoam plates, plastic forks, knives and spoons. I want to be seated and served at my table, not have to go to a counter to order and pick my food and clean up my table but that's me. I don't go out much but when I do I want to enjoy good food and good atmosphere. The Bar-B-Que there is good but I enjoy it at Country BBQ just as we'll. gotta try Sisters.....if only to eavesdrop!HAHAHAHA Oh, I'm currently boycotting Country's BBQ because last year half their servers wore Alabama and Auburn gear during homecoming weekend. The cashier said sadly they were TROY students. I told her that was the owners fault and I would be back when their dress policy changed. So far it's the same.

I see the same thing at the games and around Troy. I always wear my Troy gear on game day, and for the record, The Sound of the South is the best band with the best uniforms period. VS.

The barners save money by letting "WANT INs" lick their windows clean. It frees up money for things like lip readers to steal signs or bags of cash for Heisman Trophy winners.
