I'm guessing Monday for the Depth Chart. I'll be at the press conference Monday and I'm expecting them to have a depth chart for us.

Making the move from DII to DI (FBS), that whole venture plus the history of the school in DII and the successes and failures the schools had since the move. Would be an excellent story to tell.

TROY, Alabama – Troy and Mississippi State have signed a home-and-home football agreement, Troy Director of Athletics Jeremy McClain announced Wednesday. Troy will travel to Starkville, Miss., on Sept. 19, 2026, and Mississippi State will make the return trip to The Vet the following year on Sept. 18, 2027. “We are excited about this series and the opportunities it brings to our fan base and our football program,” McClain said. “As we continue to position Troy as one of the top Group of Five programs in the country, these types of series will be crucial to our success. While these games are a few years down the road, we are excited about where we are heading as a football program and an athletics department.” The home game in 2027 will mark the second time that Troy has hosted Mississippi State. The Trojans and Bulldogs played in The Vet in 2012 as part of a 2-for-1 contract; Mississippi State escaped Troy with a 30-24 victory in front of a Veterans Memorial Stadium record crowd of 29,013. The schools have met five previous times with Mississippi State holding a 4-1 advantage in the series. Troy won the initial meeting 21-9 in its first season at the FBS level in 2001 and nearly made it two in a row with a narrow 11-8 loss the following year. Troy opens the 2017 season on Sept. 2 at Boise State in a matchup of 10-win teams from a year ago. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:45 p.m. (CT) and the game will be televised live on ESPNU. Season ticket packages for the 2017 start at low as $60 for general admission seats and fans have multiple options to choose from including Family 4-Packs, Stadium Club and reserved seating.

Troy opened Fall camp as early as humanly possible this season (per the rules). If you start playing two weeks earlier that's Aug. 19 (using this year as an example). Less than two weeks of practice for fall camp, and then you open the season. Spells disaster. I think you are making the assumption that those dates would not be adjusted. Of course this would have to be adjusted for preparation. Adjusted to what? That was my point, if I'm not mistaken the last week of July/first week of August is the earliest you can start fall camp, period.

I don't know.... I heard something very interesting on talk radio. Rick Neuheisel was talking about the group of five and made a suggestion that they start their season two weeks earlier. Think about it for a second for two weeks all that college hype, game day, all the networks would cover group of 5. Gives them their day in the sun allows the rest of the country to see them and when bowl decisions are made those records will be followed more by college football fans, JONES'N for college football. Football at neutral sites with this model is something I could absolutely get on board with. Troy opened Fall camp as early as humanly possible this season (per the rules). If you start playing two weeks earlier that's Aug. 19 (using this year as an example). Less than two weeks of practice for fall camp, and then you open the season. Spells disaster.

I honestly didn't think Troy had much a chance, other than keeping it close, coming in but after seeing them up close and personal multiple times at this point... and with Boise having a weak secondary, I think Troy def. can match them.

I asked Neal Brown after his presser about Henderson further, he declined to comment...
As far as scrimmage goes, all three QBs looked excellent and made some really nice throws. I dont think there's much that offense won't be able to do, especially when Chunn is 100% healthy. That group of receivers is incredible, just so much depth at every spot. Wills looked to be the best of the bunch today and Brown said that he's made huge plays in every scrimmage they've had since spring.
Really thought Marcus Jones had a chance to make an impact early (I also cover Enterprise High so I've seen plenty of him the last cpl years) but was surprised to see him get so much work with the 1's in the scrimmage. He looked good and both the DC and Brown were very high on him. When I had my one-on-one with Brown after the presser, he said that Marcus will be a "starter" in the nickel. He said that he isn't playing nickel-back at all but would rather play one of the corner spots in the nickel, which means Brown more than likely would move to nickel (Im assuming, should have followed up with that) and he expects Jones to be the punt returner. He made a pretty spectacular return on a punt today. One of the coaches excitedly kept yelling "we've got a new toy, back there! we've got a new toy, back there!" after that return.

A win at Boise to open up season and Troy cracks top 25 2nd week of season. Maybe, maybe not. Depends on who does or doesn't fall in the current Top 25. Boise State not cracking the Top 25 didn't help but beating Boise will certainly help Troy's cause.

Some of you will remember this, some of you (especially younger fans) won't. Somewhere around '97 -'98 we made the I-AA playoffs and played FAMU in Tallahassee. I have never seen so many different organizations sell so many different types of food. From fraternities to churches and from Bar-B-Q to fried mullet plates, if you wanted it, you could buy it. These folks had their set ups all over the parking lots and green areas around the stadium, some of them as close as directly across the street from the visiting teams stands. It was the most unique set up for food at a ballgame I've ever seen. This would be a great thing to do at TROY. It would give organizations a chance to raise funds as well as provide a big variety of food choices. I covered the Elba-Aliceville game last year, in Aliceville, and they had the most insane options for food I've ever seen at a high school game (and especially that small). They had all kinds of different fish, shrimp, chicken, pulled pork, hamburgers and even fried Oreos. It was pretty crazy. Would love to see Troy bring in some varieties or at least let food trucks or vendors set up out there.
