Just saw the HOF class was announced. A special Congrats to Garrick Pimienta!! Not only great football player ... and a great Man! Talk about getting every bit out of ones God given ability! He (and his partner Bryan Hubbard too) ... weren't the biggest/strongest/fastest ... but they simply got to the ball and made tackles!! So happy for him! Congrats Pimp!!!!

Glad we're keeping Blackmon! Really sharp guy ... and I understand he's really good recruiter!

If Barker comes back healthy ... hard to beat. Those last several games he was really good! His passing accuracy/consistency/arm strength really set him apart from Smith. Of course his speed/athleticism help too! But if Sawyer improves ... and if Free and the young bucks are as advertised ... should be fun Spring!! From the video I've seen .. Free has a legit next level arm. Saw him in a clip standing with (The HC we don’t speak of) ... he's a big kid ... and pretty athletic too! Not too many bad options in this bunch!!

Heard the clip of (The HC we don’t speak of) on JOX radio. Did a good job. Also cool that he said he and Neal speak most days... thereâs some continuity there Also Like Chips willingness to embrace the challenge of building on previous successes. Fired up... Go Trojans!

He was hired to coach safeties. If he can do the job I fully support him. I'm just laughing at the group who say FCS isn't FBS and then fully support a FCS coach. SUN BELT is tougher than the mighty OVC so we will see. I hope he is at least 70% as good as VK because we need the defense. We dont know how the offense is yet. Spring will give an early glimpse. If Barker is back healthy we have two QBs with roughly the same game experience as starters. That is something we haven't had as long as I can remember. As far as Moore, he had 5 times the coaching experience and was also named Co OC with KE who had 10 plus years experience as a OC so it wasn't the same scenario I agree. At this point you can’t compare Moore and Pugh. Jim Dye and Wayne Bolt had a ton of "experience" ... doesn't always mean it'll work out well. Let's hope Ryan Pugh is a prodigy ... Can't wait to see this team in the Spring!!

(The HC we don’t speak of) is our head coach. He's been in the profession for about 20 years. Been pretty good at it. I assume he's putting together the best staff he's able to put together. Williams, Hall, Hardemon are known ... obviously good coaches. Hope Blackmon stays as well. I live near JSU ... Hall has great reputation amongst HS coaches up here ... not only as recruiter but as a defensive coach/teacher. I think our special teams were solid this season ... shows he can "coordinate". So, let's judge (The HC we don’t speak of) and the staff by results! I'm glad we have kept at least 3 good coaches from the previous staff. That's some continuity! Go Trojans!

According to football scoop. Ryan Pugh will be OC and Brandon Hall will be DC. So we have a $2,000,000 coaching budget and we hire a guy who has been a OL coach for three seasons and never been a OC as OC and a Co DC at a FCS school as our DC? You know he'll just be doing the organizational type work. (The HC we don’t speak of) is the OC and playcaller. Good reputation ... good recruiting contacts in the region and seems to know how to coach OL. Remember ... $2 mill doesn't go very far when you talk about 10 on field coaches ... and I assume you have to use that to pay some off-field guys too? So, young, hungry coaches on their way up? If it works for HC ... it can work for assistants as well!

Ok, as far as I know the coaches that haven't been confirmed to be following Neal to WV (or another school): Defense: Hardmon and Hall Offense: Williams, Blackmon, Reagan
I suspect Reagan will go ... it was confirmed the QB coach at WV is leaving.
I think it would be great to keep all the other guys! Blackmon and Hall are new ... so not the long-term connection with Brown. Williams, of course ... a Troy guy! Hardmon may be hard to keep. He's coached under Vic for 5-6 years ... do you think we offer him a chance to be DC?? All of these guys have great recruiting connections/reputations! Hope we can keep them.
S/C: Thebaud has been here working under Horton for 4 years ... maybe he can stay on and keep things moving. Seems like a sharp young man.
Also, how about promoting a GA and/or Analyst? Maybe Carbine for OL? Anderson for RB??

Anyone hear word on any new offers by Coach (The HC we don’t speak of)? If my math is correct ... we still have at least 6 or 7 more spots in the class. Anyone who make it to the BB game see any visitors??

I think we have to accept that it might be February before we have most of the staff in place. Just noticing how several schools that changed coaches weeks ago ... are still announcing staff members. So, as (The HC we don’t speak of) said ... lots of moving parts ... I think to there's a "pecking" order. Coaches we might want for our staff might be in running for another P5 spot or higher profile/paying G5 or more responsibility, etc. So, we have to wait until those farther up the food chain make offers and then see how it shakes out. And, there are the existing staffs at these schools. Like at WV ... if coaches are under contract ... is it worth buying them out so that the new coach can bring in his own guys? I did like that (The HC we don’t speak of) said he hoped to keep several of our staff. I'm sure their weighing their options ... maybe waiting possible slot at WV or elsewhere. I would think that all of our staff is well thought of ... so they'll have options? Anyway ... just thinking.

(The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) discusses his finals days at Auburn by Brandon Marcelo AUBURN, Alabama â (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) believes he would still have a job at Auburn as offensive coordinator had he not left for Troy via a brief stop at Kansas. [...] auburn.247sports.com/Article/(The HC we don’t speak of)-(The HC we don’t speak of)-discusses-his-final-days-at-Auburn-127724182/ Ok??? So how would one still have a job at a place you left to take another job at another place and then leave that place to take a job at another place??? Of course you would still have a job at Auburn if you hadn't left for Kansas. Troy had nothing to do with that It makes sense. If he would've wanted to stay in a situation where he the HC was meddling and keeping him from really running the offense ... he could've stayed at AU. When he took the KU job, it didn't look like the Troy Job was coming open this season ... just as we all thought!! It's very logical. So, however he got here ... he's our coach. He impressed yesterday at the presser. Now it's time to get behind him ... and Judge him on his Results. I didn't think Neal was the best guy available for our job 4 years ago ... but he turned out to be a pleasant surprise. He made mistakes and he has lot to learn about having a team ready every week ... no matter the opponent ... but he's obviously a talented young coach and he left us better of than when he got here. Now ... it's time to give (The HC we don’t speak of) that same chance to surprise us. Go Trojans!!

Let's have some fun and list the top 10 "ALL TIME" Troy wins 1) 1984 miracle in mcCleland (The Ted Clem kick for the 84 D2 title) 2) 2018 Nebraska 3) 2017 LSU 4) 2004 Missouri 5) 2007 OK St 6) 1987 Portland St Nat Championship game 7) 2003 Marshll 8) 1968 Texas A&I Nat championship game 9) 2006 Rice first bowl win 10) 2017 Ark St game to win Sun Belt That's a great list. Obviously I'm partial to the 84 and 87 championship games! But I'll tell you what ... just as I like to say we don't move up to 1-AA and 1-A ... without our 3 championships ... I think you can't overstate the importance of the Missouri and OK State games. I was still coaching so couldn't make it to the games .. but man, those games really put us on the map. So, together with the wins AT P5 stadiums last couple years ... sets the stage for us to actually achieve what everyone is talking about as a "next step" ... year in and out being considered one of the premiere G5 teams. It'll show when the preseason predictions and lists start (already saw one) ... and we're in the list for possible G5 team to be in NY bowl! Amazing ... considering where we came from! Great time to be a Trojan!

Personally, I liked the Nebraska win better. We kind of expected to win and we knew it was possible. LSU win technically is bigger and created more hype but still it could have been a fluke. Beating Nebraska after beating LSU is a statement! We got that SI mag feature story out of it and we can use both wins to promote our program to recruits and potential coaches. XCNB said it would likely show in our 2020 recruiting class. SI feature was coming win or lose. But how stinking cool was that SI feature after the win!! Had several co-workers bringing me copies of the magazine that week!

Nebraska this season I would rate higher than LSU in 2017 for four reasons. 1) they were our first D1 game in 2001 2) they had Scott Frost and he was coming off the 13-0 miracle season at UCF 3) Nebrska had beaten us a combined 57-0 in our last two meetings 4) we have played LSU close twice before, losing by 3 and blowing a 41-3 lead in 2008. IMO Nebraska for those reasons was the biggest win of NB tenure But they weren’t good Yeah ... we were the better team. And just like at LSU ... didn't play particularly well. (2 very bad fumbles at LSU that gave them life). But of course the brand name of both is big.

I see the NB and VK are no longer listed but several coaches that were purported to be heading to WV are still listed. Does that mean it still needs further updates or perhaps some things haven't been finalized? We are all seeing different things. I only see (The HC we don’t speak of) listed. As mentioned before, the web developer / staff member is likely attempting to modify the page. We'll know who's on staff when it's official. Oh yeah. I was looking under the Roster/Coaches ... it hasn't been altered at all. But under the directory I see the changes. I guess many of the others are still up in the air. Maybe the guys here have to wait to see what Neal/WV does ... then we'd know if any that (The HC we don’t speak of) wants would be wanting to stay. Obviously, if Neal offered ... we couldn't match their assistant pay. As (The HC we don’t speak of) said ... lots of moving parts.

I'm sure he'll talk vision and plans ... and how special Troy is and how great we can be (the Boise of the South, etc.) Press conferences are pretty much all the same. But I hope he has specifics on staff and especially on the transfers and signees ... cause he can talk specifically about the kids that have signed, right?? He said he spoke to "commits" and said each to a man is still on board. I wonder if he talked to all of them? But that's great news if he did!!!!

Since we hired (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) who is a great play caller - agree that Rush is probably not right for the OC position. But if we had hired Sumrall - he is absolutely right. He is a love or hate him type of guy - but he is one hell of a coach, play caller and WINNER. I can confirm I am not Rush. I can also confirm I have family ties to Colquitt County and Moultrie, GA. Those people love him and they want a winner. Rush beats Atlanta schools who have more talent and resources consistently. Last thing I'll say about him (hopefully ... since surely he won't be on our staff!!!!!!) ... I had a coach like that in HS. We won ... but he cussed us, slapped us around, and crap like that. I took it ... cause I didn't know better and figured that was the way it was. (best day of my HS career ... he fractured his wrist hitting me in the head! ) ... But now, when I see grown men cuss, slap, head butt ... Kids (whether HS, Middle School, or small kids ... and I see it) ... I tell them to come over and cuss, slap, head butt another grown up and see what would happen to him!!!! After getting to Troy and playing for Real men ... men of class and character like Coach Gailey and Coach Jeffcoat ... really that whole staff ... I saw what coaching was supposed to be! Anyway ... just my take.
