by Jeremy H Wise Troy Trojans fans, breathe a sigh of relief. It’s quite possible you know who your new quarterback is. First-team junior college All-American Dontreal Pruitt is quite a playmaker. He can scramble with the best of them, remains fairly heady and has a great touch on the ball. If the season started today, I think he would be a very solid option to guide the offense, especially after he familiarizes himself with the offense and his surrounding personnel even more. Right now, though, he isn’t quite as familiar as he may need to be to guide the Trojans. The drives he guided today gained solid yardage but were off just enough to not gain any points. On the other hand, Brandon Silvers – the man who is following the exact grayshirt/redshirt/starter path of his predecessor Corey Robinson – is very familiar with the offense and produced points. That’s why No. 12 will likely be under center when Troy faces UAB at 11 a.m. two weeks from today. On the receivers:
Worthy and Edenfield were in midseason form Saturday. That is extremely promising. Holmes didn't get a lot of deep balls thrown his way to my knowledge but I imagine he's still a big part of the deep ball game.
Doesn't look like Chunn at RB has missed a step from last season. The O-line is going to be a big positive for us this year.

How are the DB's looking??? There seemed to be a lot of positive vibes about that group at the beginning of fall practice. Are they still playing well??
So everybody thinks we will be okay at the QB position? That is my biggest worry. It scares me going in to the UAB game with the potential to have a QB that might not play very well at all... =0

If the DBs are on fire the WRs look like they can't make a play. The offense looked extremely promising Saturday, but the defense looked a lot like last year. Now, the Saturday before that was a completely different story; the defense played out of their minds. DBs played well, but not great. The D-Line played out of this world. In these types of games (and practices), one side is usually going to play well, and the other side ends up with egg on their face. Hard to tell much from a fall scrimmage. That said, if the defense continues to get blasted day in and day out until we play UAB, we may go into Legion Field lacking the confidence (and possibly skill as a unit) we need to come out with a win. They have some very very good WRs at UAB. They are nearly as good as Troy, USA, ULL and ASUs receivers.

They always have some very athletic WR's and RB's that can make our defense look terrible. I just really hope Troy can pull out the win against those guys. I expect this to be the best football team UAB has fielded in years, despite the new head coach and players that they may have lost.

I think it's kinda hard to tell anything about your team when your playing yourselves in scrimmages.

I think Silvers is the future. He seems very confident, has great touch and a strong arm and is much more athletic than Corey.
Defensive backs looked 300% better. The QB's made some great passes to receivers that were covered like blankets. Didn't see any 20 yd wide open receivers yesterday. Linebacker play looked good and interior line play was better. Tyler Roberts is a beast and is going to have a monster year.
Two things. Team is in better shape and talking to one of the players and his dad they said this camp was much more physical than past camps. More hitting, coaches more vocal etc. Chuck Ash needs to be commended also. Talking to a coach he said it was Chuck who had the practices moved to the grass practice fields this year. They had no heat related issues this year and they had a big problem with that last camp. If you were out on the turf after the scrimmage you know how much hotter that stuff is, not to mention the burnt rubber smell.

That burnt smell came from the outside receivers coming off the LoS... icon_beavisnbutthead
