TROY – When Terrence Jones was a child, he created business cards and put them in mailboxes to drum up interest in his one-man lawn cutting business. The Troy offensive lineman said he's wanted to be a business man for as long as he can remember. He was a finance major from the first day he stepped on campus, and he received his degree this summer. Jones was the first one in his family to graduate from a four-year college. While Jones already has a dream financial job in mind — he wants to work at Merrill Lynch — his football career isn't over. The fifth-year senior was selected to the preseason All-Sun Belt first team, and coach Larry Blakeney said Jones has a chance to play professional. Jones has a chance to showcase this ability today in the Trojans' second preseason scrimmage. "He's sort of a quiet leader," Blakeney said. "Terrence is sort of the quiet giant for us." Jones is working on an MBA in general business this year, and he helps out a few teammates, such as junior quarterback Connor Bravard, when they struggle with homework. While Jones dreams of working at Merrill Lynch and making $500,000 a year, he'd love to be a financial analyst or manager at a bank as well. One of Jones' classes helped get him interested in Wall Street. He had to buy stocks and keep abreast of the daily transactions. He wasn't a fan of the required accounting classes though. "It kind of got rough during accounting," Jones said. "Accounting sucks." ( Full Article) iconTroy3
