If Troy wanted to expand The Vet to 35K-40K seating capacity (and I'm not saying we should) where would expansion in our current stadium come from? Has there ever been plans beyond the 30K we currently have now if we choose to get bigger? Would an upper deck be added to the front area where the statue is? Would the upper deck on the away side be made larger somehow?
Again, I know that we don't sell out each game and we don't need to expand. Just some offseason curiosity.

I think they should probably tear out the visitor side upper deck and build a concrete upper deck matching the home side which would be bigger and would probably push the stadium to around 40,000 seats

Dome! Completely rebuild with a 71 degree climate controlled dome. When it’s 90 outside in September, a dome would be a refreshing escape. We got an extra billion laying around right?

A few years ago, I was told by someone in the Athletics Department that if another expansion were to take place at the Vet, the stadium was built so that you could connect the upper deck on the visitors' side to the upper deck on the home side, thus enclosing the South End Zone. I cannot recall the exact number of seats that would be added, but I believe it was suppose to put us at approximately 38,000.
It would be interesting to see if we ever got to the point were we needed to expand, but it's always a possibility. As a student in the 70's, I would have never thought I would see the day when we had a 30,000 seat stadium at Troy, and would be hosting teams like Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Missouri, and even Army and Navy at the Vet. I have learned to never say never!
Go TROY!

I hope to see an actual sellout (every seat actual taken) of the Vet before I die. That would be very nice. Forget expansion, put that money on renovating the existing stadium. You could really make it special.

If they really want to fix the Vet, start with concessions, especially in the endzone. The buildings look worn out, they need metal roof material on top because the shingles are in need of replacing. Connecting the upper decks would be nice, but filling the stands completely is the number 1 goal. No excuse for students to not come out and fill the student section up completely. I see a sell out in the near future when Mississippi State comes in 2027, they will bring fans.
