I’m still waiting to hear if we have a new athletic band director or we going to keep watching the same awful shows. If so, then plug in the IPOD! A candidate was selected, but due to budget constraints on the part of the university administration, they cancelled the posting and no one was hired. You would think something like pay would be sorted prior to advertising a position

You would think something like pay would be sorted prior to advertising a position Not if they didn't do the market research on what the going rate is. I can about guarantee you that Dr. Walker doesn't make what most people in his position make. I interviewed for a college assistant gig a few years ago for a small university and the pay was 40k for the year (that's right at/below starting pay for a teacher in a public school in AL). There's no way Troy's actually paying decently when he's been in the position so long. (I know nothing personally, just guessing on my part. I'm not putting words in anyone's mouth and have done no research other than what I know from personal experience)

Toy is NOT cheap. We've spent millions on millions of dollars on copulas and round a bouts and a new dorm to replace Slumni. That's not to say these things weren't needed, just that we've spent the $$$

No men to operate it.

So without a pay increase for the faculty then I doubt most employees will get anything. Since that's mainly controlled by the state (base salary at least) it's not gonna happen in Montgomery and I'm sure Dear Leader and Mrs. Dear Leader would prefer to have another 30k in statues instead of spreading that out for potential raises/new positions.

Unlike the Fed there are restraints of some kind. Troy has over all (in my humble non-alumnist opinion) done relatively well given the economic realities. The challenge University wide is this National phenomenon of decreasing student enrollment.

The challenge University wide is this National phenomenon of decreasing student enrollment. You're not wrong but the decreasing enrollment is the fault of the government and universities. There's no reason that it should be this damn expensive to get a degree. Especially one that doesn't pay for itself, and no, before boomers come in talking S*** about liberal arts, I mean normal, every day degrees. My Master's in Education (not at Troy) cost me 45k and it's a 6500 a year pay bump. "But it'll pay for itself eventually" not with the way the government has the interest rates set up. "Don't go to school if you can't pay." Then we're in the situation now.."Why are all these schools broke, why can't we hire good coaches, why are there no NIL deals, etc." Folks, it's not 20+ years ago when we could have a cake and eat some of it too. The system is going to break, it's just a matter of time

The system is going to break, it's just a matter of time $45,000 to get a $6,500 pay bump. This is the problem with college right now. You can go to a trade school for $6,000 and make more than you can with most degrees
