MLB Draft in July - who has a chance? I remember the last player drafted by an MLB team was Logan Cerny in 2021. Think we get some more this year?

I bet Shane Lewis could hear his name called decently early. Caleb Bartelero should hear his name called a little later, as well.

Coach Meade has a good reputation with getting players drafted, especially at South Carolina. Should be interesting since we had a really good year. Excited to see who gets an opportunity.

Is Lewis not eligible? Third year out of high school which normally would make someone eligible.

Is Lewis not eligible? Third year out of high school which normally would make someone eligible. He is eligible, I wouldn't be surprised if he goes late. He had a good year but struggled late and also needs to work on getting K's down. Struck out in more than a third of his bats. 82 K's in 217 ABs

He did struggle down the stretch. Just surprised he’s not being talked about more. Hopefully if it’s late he’ll come back.

Is Lewis not eligible? Third year out of high school which normally would make someone eligible. The baseball draft rules are confusing. You can be drafted out of high school but if you go to college I guess there is a time frame before being drafted?? If you think the NFL draft isn't an exact science....baseball is even worse.

Correct. If you go to a four-year school, you have to wait three years after your HS graduation. You can go to a JUCO, though, and enter the draft after the first or second year.

He got his GED so he could enroll in Southern Nevada state I believe(where his brother played) in what would have been his senior year.

Tony Gwynn is rolling over in his grave.
