I remember the days under Melanie Davis where we were competitive with most P5 schools especially when we had the Australian girl pitching (she was on their Olympic team) and the lefty pitcher from Mississippi (met her mom at a game) but can't remember it.

They beat four P5 teams last season, bad games happen. They also won a series against a Top 25 team who beat two top 10 teams the week prior.

I feel like our softball will always be good enough to be 2nd or 3rd place in the SBC, and good enough to have an RPI between 40 and 100.... and nothing more.

So many of the Mullins years we had RPIs in the upper 40s to mid-50s. So tantalizing close to breakthroughs, but not quite NCAA Tournament worthy in the current system. I'm glad we got the one at-large a couple of years ago, and the COVID year really robbed us of an opportunity. I keep hoping one day we'll reach Ragin' Cajun status. Not sure what's missing other than tradition.

You have to expand your recruiting base and there is zero excuse with travel ball why you can't recruit players from the talent rich west coast or elsewhere. You can attend a top level tournament and see players from all over the country.
