Personally, I think HC Chanda Rigby and HC Scott Cross are very capable of managing off-season changes for better competitive results next year.
What changes do you think are due?? I have my own opines to share as well.

I have my own opines to share as well. Have at it.... Scott Cross needs to hit the portal and get a true big, and at least one or two good shooters. The lack of three-pointer shooting ability and the lack of an athletic, strong forward is keeping Troy from taking a big leap. BTW, Duke Miles is in the transfer portal. For Chanda Rigby, she just straight up needs to get better shooters. They were pretty bad this year. Weren't there like two games where Troy didn't make a single 3 pointer? THAT'S BAD. |

I hate doing this but here I go. 🚫 won a lot of ball games with Samuel as their center. At 7'0", 260# he dominated the paint and the boards. In addition to his skill, it seemed the refs were enamored with his size and strength and they let him use it to his advantage. In my opinion, he was the most physical guy we faced in the last 3 years and we was allowed to do things others weren't. Tshimanga won't likely make the 7'0" mark but if he can put on 10-15# of good weight (muscle) he could be that big guy for us. Nate will be a junior next year, so if he's going to do it, now is the time. If he isn't the guy, we must find someone in the portal. We can't keep getting beat down low while relying on 50% shooting from outside the arc to win. Sooner or later we have to man up and take some games away from opponents. |

Christian Turner entered the transfer portal this morning. He was a good player, but by no means is he one I would consider a monumental loss.
With the transfer portal, I'm no longer worried about this stuff. FAU is a prime example of it.
FAU had 4 good players transfer to other D1 schools, 2 players graduate, and 1 player leave the team. So FAU dipped into the portal, got two good players out of there, then got a JUCO player, and only signed one high schooler.
Now they're in the Sweet 16.
I will say, Scott Cross is going to have a lot of recruiting to do this offseason... hopefully he does a good job. There are 7 scholarships to fill currently.

Basketball is a sport (aside from the March Madness) has been badly hit by the portal. This is not too odd in that in basketball the players have been on tons of teams (AAU etc) so their moving from team to team is “Normal” that is not the case with football. I would hate to be a college BB coach. Now that the portal is getting reined a bit it may help. However, when greater than half of college BB players doing the portal, life is going to be heck for most D1 programs.
Many may point to K-State or FAU or so on and so on. Hitting the golden ticket is much less common than the coach who stands there with two guys for next year’s roster?
Cross is a good coach. Hang in there guys just ride it out till sanity returns because team loyalty is not coming back too soon.

The portal at some point is going to really hurt high school recruiting. It's a double edge sword. You recruit a HS kid and he doesn't play year one he enters the portal. Don't recruit high school players you run out of portal players
