Although I rarely miss a home game (work sometimes prohibits my attendance) I haven't been to a road game in several years. I'm considering a trip to Mobile this year to see us once again claim ownership of Whitney-Hancock. Since the game is on Thursday, a traditional football weekend probably isn't going to happen for most people (in the day before, out on the town that night, enjoy the local sights game day before the game, home the next). That said, What plans do those of you going to Mobile have in place? Where are you staying, when are you arriving etc? I'd like it to be more than just show up on Thursday for the game and come home Friday.

My wife and I head for Dauphin Street for quick drink then head to Hancock Whitney. Hopefully!!

It was a nice little mid week trip which I could see myself doing again. I have to check at work Monday to see if I can get those 2 days off. If so, we may just plan to do that. Downtown Mobile is a nice little place with some neat little specialty joints and that would be a good way to spend Friday.

Could be a nice cool Fall night, but nowhere near that 22'F that we endured for that CMU GMAC game! Heckuva shootout between two fine QB'S!

It was colder than that the night before at the parade, 18 degrees, if memory serves me well. Fortunately, since I was a hard core hunter at the time, I had the clothes needed to endure that game. Hollow core polythermal underwear, Hot Hands body warmer packs )one over each kidney), sweat shirt(s), hollow core poly liner socks, topped with wool, stuffed inside insulated boots, all topped with water proof (windproof) Thinsulate camo coveralls. I was the tree sitting on the 35 about 40 rows up. It was a great game.

Bought my tickets today. With the down town hotels already full, I opted for class to campus. I booked in the Hampton Inn, 1.5 miles from campus. I hope I won't be disappointed.

I don’t want to hear any of y’all talk about how cold the GMAC bowl was. I was a last minute replacement to be a spotter for Barry and Jerry, we all dressed for indoors because that’s where radio booths are right…right. Unless it’s the GMAC bowl at Ladd Peebles stadium. The bowl charges you a huge chunk of change to broadcast THEN sticks you in the flippin stairwell with that 4 degree air coming in from the back and through the open window. We all nearly died from hypothermia. Chris Blackshear who was on the sidelines was actually warmer than we were. MISERABLE!

Well maybe not but it was a tad on the cool side. I had my wife in about three layers and 38 hand warmers inside the layers. She was pretty warm but it did take her an hour and half to go to the bathroom

I've been to lots of ball games in life but none rival that one for it's greatness. Let me qualify that. I was in Atlanta in October when the Braves beat Milwaukee for the division playoff title on the way to winning the World Series, but that's a different situation.
