Unfortunately for NB, he's had 20+ players go into the transfer portal, quite a few of which were starters or key backups... two of them were WVU's best WR's.
Six of the transfers actually made it onto other P5 rosters, so WVU lost some pretty good talent.
WVU is also installing a new offense with Graham Harrell as OC. WVU already lost their co-OC and their best co-DC.
It'll be interesting to see what happens. NB is running out of time.

WR losses may have been short-sighted, we'll see what JT Daniels affect is on that. Former QB Doege was just not the man there. Today's Football kids just have no confidence in Coaching staffs to adjust with the new challenges.

Transfer portal and NIL deals will be the death of college football. If Neal doesn't win 8-9 games this season he will be gone. He better open up the playbook and not run the offense like VK is his DC

However, just like me the better the people around me are the better I will look. Not that is what I am after but part of being a good leader of any organization is maximizing the abilities and performance of those around.

Lack of success. These kids have always felt like they do now but did not have the ability to do anything about it. Now they do and they are choosing. Whether one believes it is right or wrong it is reality.

It seems like most of the WVU players never fully bought into Neal Brown and his staff.
There is just a different vibe about the players he had at Troy, versus the players he has had at WVU.

Troy saw a significant turnaround in Neal's second year. I wonder how much of an impact the covid year had, and how much could also be attributed to the Vic Koenning drama.

I like to remind WVU fans that they are in-fact WVU fans. WVU is not Bama, OU, Clemson, Ohio State or even UT, Auburn, A&M... they are WVU and will never be anything more than a "shock the world every 10 years" team.

And players have always transferred, they can now just do it one time without sitting.

XHCNB is always on my radar. If HCJS moves on and XHCNB needs a job, I could support a return.

And players have always transferred, they can now just do it one time without sitting. Biggest $$$ will draw players. I 110% oppose any player getting money to play college football and I don't care about they generate money for the university argument. They get a 100% free college education and some could not even get accepted to that said institution without football (University of Florida to get in out of HS requires a minimum of a 4.0 GPA and around a 1200 SAT. To play football NCAA minimum requirement. This is the #1 reason for the huge enrollment surge at UCF, HS seniors in FL can't get into UF...FACT). And as far as they risk their bodies for a free education thus they deserve $$$ I guess that FCS, D2 and D3 doesn't apply. These top players at big P5 schools don't need money because they go pro after 2-3 years and without graduating. As far as the transfer portal, yes players transfered but not at the rate they are now. It is also going to have an adverse effect on HS recruiting as coaches can decide to build a program through the portal instead of recruiting a player they feel will transfer year one if they don't play. If you are going to have a portal then allow it once and that is it.

Stet is right. UF if the football team had to academically match the student body loaded with ACT 31 and above and 4.0 GPA the team would be be bottom of now CUSA quality (this may not be true but you get the point that Vandy in SEC would look forward to playing UF) I just would like this reigned in some because it’s a mess
