That's a fantastic idea. Free tickets for local school students, and parents would have to buy their own tickets to the game. And many parents like to take advantage of free things they already have.
It will grow the Troy fan base exponentially for young students to experience games at Troy. For many it could be their first ever college football game they've been to.
I just don't know if the athletic department can afford that, or how they would decide to dole them out. It's obviously easier said than done.
Constantly giving away tickets is a quick way to devalue your product. It works in certain cases, but it can’t become the normal way. How much are basketball tickets? I went to a game in Syracuse this year during my surgery follow up and a ticket to a Syracuse game was only $10

if you want fraternities and sororities - go to their Sunday or Monday meeting and ask or tell them how crucial they are to impacting games but let's remember fraternity and sorority members are also on the SGA, the band, honor societies, etc. The point is let's ask all the organizations tok because not everyone is in a Greek organization. Free tickets for all first responders and Healthcare workers Saturday games - free tickets to all public school students - yes free just opinion That's a fantastic idea. Students are the only way to increase attendance at basketball games, especially weekday games. There are simply not enough locals that care or willing to provide good home attendance. There are a few dedicated locals that are all in and good for them.

I don't think it should be a constant give-away of tickets for that reason. Just for some games... enough to pique a kid's interest in potentially being a Troy fan. Troy offered a limited amount of free tickets to interested high school kids at PLAS, CHHS, PCHS, and GHS for the 2003 Marshall game and 2004 Missouri game. Never any other games.
I still remember how big of a deal it was in high school when Missouri and ESPN were coming to Troy.

Couple that with the reality that Troy has never been what you call a basketball school. It would be fantastic to get a student section like the Cameron Crazies or what I saw at The Carrier Dome with Syracuse students. If we can get winning that will greatly help but it's a culture thing at Troy that somehow needs to change

This makes sense. Need to try something new and bold, because what they are doing now is obviously not working.

And I wasn't suggesting free tickets forever or every game (and know you are not saying I was) - was said in thread maybe for certain games, etc. which sounds like a good idea
I suggest mullet night for guys and Hair Spray bangs for the ladies - that would be fun
I suggest wrestling exhibition in the "squared" circle at the half or let's just go straight to a cage match OR maybe a mud wrestling event at the half - PHI Mu vs. AD Pi (joking)
OR - pick a charity and $1 for every ticket purchase goes to the Charity and make the tickets pretty cheap - just get buts in the seats
Last but not least - FULL Sound of the South BAND

Constantly giving away tickets is a quick way to devalue your product. It works in certain cases, but it can’t become the normal way. true this. Troy Athletics currently hosting area HS Basketball Teams, bands and showcasing area dance troupes at halftime. Games, promotions, and targeted marketing in place for two seasons. Come and enjoy the show! ..and presenting, this Saturday at Halftime of the South Game.. FRISBEE DOGS!
