I go to games too. I also try to say hello to Hemi at home games and away games when we are winning and losing. Yes. The wins are more fun than the losses. Ready to get back to winning.

It’s been mentioned in this thread already, but there is no doubt this is our last shot at Jon. Is he my number one choice, not even close. We messed it up 3 years ago and we now have the opportunity to make it right. Bring Jon and his awesome family home. Can you imagine Trojan your next year with Jon, Chanda, Scott and Sylar!! They will have to make each event 6 hours long because the personalities of these people are off the charts. lol. 1st coach needs to stay a coordinator, next one is legit winner, next one needs to start winning which he is capable of, last one has not coached yet. Settle down and chill. And sure he family is nice, so is yours and mine but it has nothing to on whether or not he is the right fit. This above post is what people are afraid of. People clamoring for Jon because his is their friend, NOT because he is the right fit or if he can even lead a winning program.

From Bruce Feldman, one of the most respected college football writers: list of candidates for troy. First mentioned: Keep an eye on Kentucky linebackers coach Jon Sumrall, the Wildcats’ co-defensive coordinator, a Huntsville native. He’s on a lot of athletic directors’ radars because of how well thought of he is in coaching circles. He had been a key assistant for Brown. He earned the title of assistant head coach in addition to his role coaching linebackers and working as special teams coordinator as Brown rebuilt the Trojans program. He has also been a very good recruiter for Stoops. We expect Sumrall, 41, to get a head coaching job soon. Other names: Tommie Robinson, Lance Taylor, Dell McGee, Jordan Lesley, and Derrick Ansley Dell McGee should be at the top of the list. Like it should have been the last time.

I like Sumrall and Ansley and would be happy with either. I just want someone who will win but won't bolt the second they start winning.

Just heard from a source that Sumrall had an unofficial conversation with with a Troy fan that I will not disclose... but Coach Sumrall was asked point blank if he was interested in the job and the reply was affirmative. A conversation with a Troy fan, wow! Glad he has that going for him. I hope Sumrall is having that conversation with a decision maker, geez It says a lot that some of us Troy Fans can reach out and have a conversation with a coach. Sumrall is a Huntsville native, and the Troy nation is strong up there. This conversation happened moments after the announcement. This is Sunday after all, I doubt Troy is reaching out to coaches in an official capacity today.

If Steve Campbell is hired, I'd just rather eat a bag of dog crap.
Love that he's a Troy guy and probably a great person... but he was awful at USA. He would probably do worse than (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of).

Whether many will be proved right or wrong we should just hire Coach Sumrall this time around and be done with all the flirtation. It'll be a shame if the Louisiana job opens up, he takes it, and continues their reign of dominance while we fall farther behind.

I like Sumrall and Ansley and would be happy with either. I just want someone who will win but won't bolt the second they start winning. I want someone who will be interactive with the Troy community and the Wiregrass area like Neal Brown was. It led people to want to watch Troy football, simply because the coach was hanging out among the people... so he was well-respected. He would randomly have lunch in places like Enterprise, Elba, Dothan, etc. quite a bit and talk with people who came up to him. (The HC we don’t speak of) (The HC we don’t speak of) was the opposite, and it had an effect.

Hiring Jon Sumrall would probably lead some of the players to stick around as well... guys like Carlton Martial, Jayden McDonald, Dell Pettus, Will Choloh... all of those impact players who were here under Neal Brown.
I'm worried Troy could lose a lot of star talent to the portal because of (The HC we don’t speak of) being fired and because of the crappy season.

Him walking around town, kissing hands and shaking babies seems a like sketchy to me.

I feel like Sumrall would love the linebacker core of this defense. Probably this defense overall.

Not specifically about a coaching candidate but about the job in general. This time around itâs different than when (The HC we don’t speak of) was hired. This is definitely more of a rebuild. Someone is going to have to come in and change the culture, recruit their tails off, and organize a team that seems to be left in far worse shape than before. That being said, there is some talent to work with and hopefully some hungry players will stick around for the rebuild. When (The HC we don’t speak of) was hired I had the expectation of winning immediately. With Neal it was more of a âpatiently waiting for progressâ situation. I think this time itâs somewhere in between. So far, I like both Sumrall and Ansley (the two that seem to be the favorites at the moment) but no one can really be sure that either would be successful. Guys that look good on paper fail all the time and vice versa. Regardless of who is next, Iâm glad that the current era is ending!

We are in a great position for either one of these two. Talent is there. The only intangible that has DA over Jon is that he was part of two national titles at Alabama. The only drawback is, he might not be available until after the NFL playoffs as the Chargers seem to be making a run.

This is exactly my thinking therefore we should hire Derrick Sumrall, I mean Jon Ansley! This is going to be tough ! Either candidate would be great but let’s face it anyone will be better! I haven’t been this energized in a long time!

Neither Sumrall nor Ansley bring Offensive know-how or experience. Might we best be looking for an Offensive background and cobble together next year's D staff with some of our existing talent?? (The HC we don’t speak of) brought "Offensive know-how or experience"

DT prediction: Saintflorian is going to be butt hurt after a solid hire and the number of people that actually care will = 0. LOL. Incorrect on being butthurt. I want Troy to win as criteria for the hire. Your criteria for the hire is making sure your buddy is hired regardless if he is the best hire. The number of People that actually care is 100% correct. It’s a message board, it’s nothing personal.

AMAZING!!! All the people that Are paid for their educated opinion on college football have one guy at the top of the list for Troy.
One anonymous poster(Troyflowsaintrider) who had his feelings hurt by Brent Jones hates the Sumrall idea because if will be a solid hire by Brent.

What I can say about Jon Sumrall is this. I have gotten to be good friends with a recent players family and the player. One of the finest young men to come through our program and we need more like him. He has told me quote "Jon should have been hired. The players respected him and the players wanted the culture to continue. Im sure Ansley is a great coach and maybe will be a great HC. But with Jon we know exactly what we are getting. I'll be behind whoever the Administration hires but I will be really excited if a plane comes in from Lexington...Again

The real estate I am occupying inside your head is amazing. It just a message board. Those paid opinion folks also said Dan Mullen was a home run, would win national titles at Florida. All coaching hires are a roll of the dice. These print and post material for clicks and subs, not because they are experts. lol Man, the screen name is pretty legit, very nice. Might need to use.
