Most folks here said Neal wasn't either...... Negative. Neal Brown then and Jon Sumrall now are a considerable difference from having the ability to take over a program. He a nice guy but just because he is your buddy doesn’t make him the best choice. An Objective decision is what this program needs NOT more hiring of our SEC coordinator buddies. I can tell you one person that wont be involved in the decision and that is you.

Neither will be hired. The point on Sumrall was he was hands down the best choice of the two. Hawkins will Hawkins again and go to the SEC. We will probably get the OC from Vandy or SC I would be fine with Sumrall as head coach, Hall and Pogue being retained, and the hiring of a young aggressive OC coming in and reinventing the offense. Que SaintFlorian standard Sumrall response in 3 2 1…. Yea, that guy has a real inflated view of his Troy importance. Speaks a lot to his character that he has to try to down people he dosent agree with. Acting like a baby Id say probably a Biden supporter.

Hemi is absolutely right, get a young aggressive OC who can bring excitement back to the offense

These responses deduce that my posts that Jon Sumrall is a nice guy, good coach but not the right hire for Troy is exactly right. Let’s stay away from the SEC coordinator, he’s my buddy hire.

The way Sumrall and Ansley have been hyped up.... If either of them are hired, that's fine, but here's what I expect: No grace period, no down time, no on the job training! These two are the all-singing, all dancing, messiahs of college football, and I expect them to perform as such from the very start. I expect them to make Saban look like Dubose! I expect them to make Neal Brown look like Robert Maddox! I expect Troy to jump into the top 25 merely on the announcement of their hiring. Being favored by less than 21 points against any P5 will be an insult! Bama and Auburn won't want us in the SEC but they have to take us because we're so good. Not making the playoffs will cause riots all over the country. TL;DR : I just expect them to live up to the hype and perform as advertised on this board. No matter who is hired, there will be some repair time. I know we talk about XHCNB like he is a super hero, but during his first year we got better every week. After the New Mexico State game, it was evident we were building something special. So, no matter who we hire, I can understand some repair time, but I expect us to get better every week. Negative. Every supporter/fan on and off this board have stated over and over again that the talent is in the program. Even Hemiman stated this team has more talent than any of NB championship teams. Everyone sees the issue is the guy pulling the strings as Head Coach. Hire someone before the end of the year, the instill their culture and program over the winter, spring practice, summer workouts and fall camp, no reason this talented team can’t compete Year 1.

Hiring someone by the end of the year will be a disaster. Early signing is in december. We need to cut ties with (The HC we don’t speak of) now, put an interim head coach in and start getting on the hiring process before early signing season. Get a great head coach in place, develop relationships with existing recruits and some of his recruits (like what happened NB first year) get a great signing class. Instill the culture in over the offseason,in the spring and let's roll come the 2022 season

What are the odds that Jack actually fires (The HC we don’t speak of) instead of letting him coach another year to let the contract run out? Based on the amount of time this $t show has been going, I say 50/50 at best.

The fact that they don't read the message board does not preclude their knowing what is on the message board does it? Baghdad Bob did not watch the news and denied he knew but soon found out. Any person in authority should know what is happening besides that what a few yes men may be saying. In no way is that slanted is any of this slanted toward BJ AD but perhaps a strand or two higher. The sargent Schultz I see nothing, hear nothing does not work unless you live at 1700 Pennsylvania Avenue

I think it's now all about the optics to Jack and his Board of Minions. Even he can only take so much. We'll know when he decides us athletic $upporters need to know.

(I know, I know, everyone has a guy but my guys have been pretty good when they occasionally drop a nugget or two) Unless he rallies and wins the Sunbelt. You have to do it after a loss. So they better not get too cute on the timing...

And can we stop with the "Gurus" for the love of God just hire a great HC who will bring in great OC and DC and Assistants Totally agree. They are going to hire who they are going to hire but the James Madison coach is going to get snatched up by somebody and I'm hoping it's not another Sunbelt team. Worked great for GATA when they hired Fritz from Sam Houston and Coastal with Caldwell coming from Charleston Southern. We will see, heck we still have (The HC we don’t speak of) right now

If it’s a done deal. Sooner than later is better. They should not let him do the Press conference tomorrow. The game this weekend would get great PR and probably boost attendance at the Vet

AD BJ talks about marketing the Brand of Troy ! Nothing would be better right now to fill seats than to get rid of (The HC we don’t speak of)! Winning is what Fills seats And the likelihood of that happening with (The HC we don’t speak of) running the ship is not good! The coaching change at Georgia Southern was obviously needed and even the players knew that and they have responded! Troy needs to do the same thing To possibly so I was just season but more importantly salvage our program

Enter NB and he #1 reached out to students #2 made it clear to his team that they to "were students" and made them help move students into dorms #3 brought excitement #4 started winning and you felt Troy had a chance no matter the opponents (Clemson 2016, LSU 2017, Nebraska 2018) #5 excitement and winning increased attendance and the noise level in the stadium (think App St game 2017? I think). Got to get this back

I don't know who I'd like to see be the next coach but I could tell you what I would like to see in our next coach. I want someone who is engaging that kind of person that is active in the community and can rally the support of the students. I'd like to see someone who doesn't like the word "can't" by that I mean a person who won't have the mind set that Troy is limited or we should have lower expectations just because we're a smaller school. I would like to see someone who is up for challenges that embodies the old motto of: Anyone, Anywhere, Anytime. I would like to see someone who is resourceful a person that can take a player that may be an inch too short or a step too slow to play on a Power 5 team but coach them up to get the most out of a player.

The more I research this coach the more I want him at Troy. Played for and coached under Johhny Majors, was on the original staff of Saban for four years and was recruiting coordinator, turned a pathetic D2 IUP team around immediately into a winner, turned a losing Elon team into a winner and has maintained excellence at James Madison. This guy is a fit for Troy
