I don't understand the Sumrall thing.
The dude JUST got promoted to his first coordinator position. He needs more seasoning.
He's a great guy and will be a head coach one day, but I just don't think he's seasoned enough yet.

I am a Sumrall fan but will give my input if he is not the guy:
1.) The Hawkins must stay the F out of the entire process. 2.) No more AuBarn Thanksgiving scraps EVER again. In fact No fired losers at all. Position coach moving up > Head coach spiraling downward.

"The root of the Jayhawks offensive struggles can be traced back to problems in the trenches. KU ranks at the bottom of the Big 12 conference in total yardage per game (264.4). The Kansas offensive line has also given up the most sacks of any other team in the conference (38)." Sound familiar?? wow *https://www.wibw.com/2020/11/20/miles-fires-ku-offensive-line-coach-luke-meadows/

Neal Brown then and Jon Sumrall now are a considerable difference from having the ability to take over a program. He a nice guy but just because he is your buddy doesn’t make him the best choice. An Objective decision is what this program needs NOT more hiring of our SEC coordinator buddies.

He a nice guy but just because he is your buddy doesnât make him the best choice. An Objective decision is what this program needs NOT more hiring of our SEC coordinator buddies. Understand your point. I do know first hand from a player (got to know the family) that told me they made a huge mistake not hiring him. The fact was this administration narrowed it down to Jon and (The HC we don’t speak of). No way to know but I look at Kentucky this season and it is hard to fathom that Jon would have done the same or worse than (The HC we don’t speak of) and what the player stated " he would have kept the culture that had been built" and it was special. Now because of Hawkins we have another dumpster fire (although not as bad as what Neal inherited) and it is going to take a special set of skills to rebuild and it has to start with DISCIPLINE. I pray that Hawkins stays out of it, gets a search committee of the right people and that must include former players (and I know of several high profile former players) that have already petitioned the administration to do that. We must get it right or we become the UConn of the South

It should be an experienced, knowledgeable and clear minded AD doing the search and making the pick. But A) we do not have that and B) our chancellor runs over and dominates our AD. Search committees usually donât work out, so many agendas, opinions and trying to their buddy in to make it work.

Now what if they just give Brandon Interim job now and he finished 7-5. Would he be acceptable under that scenario? I know that to even have that happen they must ax Potato Head post haste. Just wondering

The way Sumrall and Ansley have been hyped up....
If either of them are hired, that's fine, but here's what I expect: No grace period, no down time, no on the job training! These two are the all-singing, all dancing, messiahs of college football, and I expect them to perform as such from the very start. I expect them to make Saban look like Dubose! I expect them to make Neal Brown look like Robert Maddox! I expect Troy to jump into the top 25 merely on the announcement of their hiring. Being favored by less than 21 points against any P5 will be an insult! Bama and Auburn won't want us in the SEC but they have to take us because we're so good. Not making the playoffs will cause riots all over the country.
TL;DR : I just expect them to live up to the hype and perform as advertised on this board.

No matter who is hired, there will be some repair time. I know we talk about XHCNB like he is a super hero, but during his first year we got better every week. After the New Mexico State game, it was evident we were building something special. So, no matter who we hire, I can understand some repair time, but I expect us to get better every week.

We’ve had 10 winning seasons in last 20 years. And we’ve had 2 .500 seasons in that same time. We need to realize that we aren’t Alabama’s dynasty right now. Then go hire someone that can help build that. Bama was coming out of a funk when Saban came. We can too. www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/troy/index.html

Just wondering Only one man ever walked on water. Sorry Brandon was not Him. I’m not saying Hall is our guy. I’m in no way suggesting that. A neighbor pointed this out so I did a little searching on the interweb and this is what I found . Hall was hired to replace Jon as ST coordinater and defense assistant coach in 2018. End of the year rankings for Troy’s Special Teams under Jon: 2015- 42rd 2016- 19th 2017- 52nd Hall comes in 2018 and we end the year 2nd in the country on Special Teams. We all know Halls first year as DC was a disaster! He started over 30 different guys on Defense due to injury /Ineligibility and whatever else. 2020 comes along we end the season ranked 33rd in country. We were never ranked that high under Vic. This year after 5 games we are still sitting at 5th in the country. Kind of interesting that’s all.

The point on Sumrall was he was hands down the best choice of the two. Hawkins will Hawkins again and go to the SEC. We will probably get the OC from Vandy or SC

Que SaintFlorian standard Sumrall response in 3 2 1….
