College Football News has Ranked Troy at 112 and is Predicting a 6-6 record
Who we Play and their pre season Rank
Southern. FCS Liberty. 62 Southern Miss 116 ULM 124 South Carolina 47 Ga So 87 Texas St 114 Coastal 75 South Alabama 122 Luisiana 79 Ap 65 Ga St 98
based on Rankings we go 4-8. Obviously these are just Pre season rankings and we are hoping that the ranking is totally wrong. All we have to do is win and rankings don’t matter

Thanks for gathering this data Matt. Here are my W-L predictions.
Southern - W Liberty - L Southern Miss - L ULM - W South Carolina - L Ga Southern - L Texas State - L Coastal Carolina - L South Alabama - L App - L Ga State - L
I have it 2-9. Most common explanation: We don't have TKGs.

College Football News is one of the most worthless sports media outlets out there. They do as much research as my dog when he's looking for a place to crap.
Louisiana #79? Coastal Carolina #75? Liberty #62? All of those teams finished in the Top 25 last season, and return almost everyone. Yet South Carolina, who sucked last year and lost a crap ton of players.... is #47. That tells you everything you need to know about College Football News.

I don’t have the link to the presser, but I remember he said it.

This seems fairly realistic to me:
Southern - W Liberty - L but it stays close Southern Miss - could go either way, but gonna say W ULM - W SCar - L GaSo - W TxSt - W Coastal - L South - W UL - L App - L GaSt - W
7-5
ESPN’s FPI system actually has us going 9-3, somehow, with losses to Coastal, AppSt, and SCar.

A. Fester has lost two in a row to Atlanta Community College. 2. We travel to Monroe and it will probably rain. D. Texas state is due and on the road.

Why would they care what some never played college ball and smells like Bourbon Alum predicts? You're all backed up man.. get out of Portland for a while and wear some bright colors other than black.

Rankings are just prognosticating, win and the pre season ranking no matter which poll it came from won’t matter! winning is the answer! Beat South Carolina and Ap and Coastal and the preseason rank is meaningless! I get sucked in when I see a pre-season poll but my personal feeling is that no poll should come out until at least week 4

Surely. I agree GaSt could be a little tricky, but I have faith. Free trip to Atlanta for me either way. I think we have it over TxSt.

With the talent we have 9-3 or 10-2 should be achievable...especially getting Louisiana and App here at home. BUT...with (The HC we don’t speak of) still in charge I realistically have us going 6-6 this Fall.

Falling just one game short of the magic number to put all of the "negative Nellys" in their place and prove that (The HC we don’t speak of) is a true living god of football.

How many of the teams we face will have as good or better talent? We probably lose all games where talent is as good or better. If we go 9-3, I tip my hat to Brandon Hall and the defensive staff.

The terrible and frightening question is, "How many teams we face will have better coaches?"

The terrible and frightening question is, "How many teams we face will have better coaches?" You hit the nail on the head. Any team we face with as good or better talent, count that as a loss. I don't think we will out coach anyone. Now, I will say if Brandon Hall and his staff improve over last year, as much as they improved over year 1, defense will actually keep us in games. And, what I did see from the defense last year was we got better as the seasoned progressed. I can't say that about the offense.

The first year I was not happy with Hall but it appears I was wrong and admit that. Come on Chirp make me say that about you……

The offense regressed over the year while the defense progressed. That's a pure indicator of coaching right there.

Maybe that will make a difference. Will need less questionable play-calling from CL though. Regarding the defense, everyone on the two deep minus Dunlap and Whisenhunt return. Lots of defensive players have added significant weight to their frames during the offseason, and that's testament to Rusty Whitt having a real offseason to work with. Nose tackle will surprise some folks. The defense progressed from 116th to 41st last season. This unit has Top 25 potential, we'll have to see how everything shakes out. Offense brings back every OL in the two deep, all running backs, and all QBs of consequence. QB and receiver play will decide how our season goes in my opinion, as the receivers lose 4 or 5 guys who were difference makers.

Our defense improved statistically yes however we still couldn’t close the game when it counted like against Coastal!

OL didn't block nearly well enough to spring Vidal and Woods last year and that's a shame considering they're a veteran laden group. I like what I saw in the spring game and that was a lot of TE inclusion but at the same time, if we are trying to establish some sort of ground attack then the TEs need to be more involved to help the OL. Just my 2 cents.
