What if Jesus doesn’t want them to spend it that way? Heck of a dilemma? However, I think they just moved to P5 + over a whole lot of schools. We shall see

We shall see I think you will see some rich universities buying players, but I also think that schools like Troy will become more collegiate in that we may not have NFL talent, but we will have student athletes. We will have players that want to play football and also get an education. I'm curious to see what happens.

Troy has done a great job transitioning and competing at every level! This will represent a new challenge and I hope that we will be able to compete in a new era ! Now our boosters and alumni will be needed even more to support a winning program!

Here are your top 20 teams of the future if pay to play becomes an arms race. Notice only 1 SEC school.

This is really interesting and I don’t think It will shift in favor of the wealthiest schools however if you look at history Harvard Yale and Army all have national championships in football from 70 years ago and perhaps they will be relevant again! Question. Do the academies get to use taxpayers money to recruit and pay players? This would put all 3 of them at the top of the list!

Matt... you said the word taxpayer, which opens up a whole other can of worms. If players are paid, they will have to file taxes. Will they be taxed on the value of their scholarship, meals, room and board? I suppose players are going to need an agent, lawyer, and CPA.

Who knows but they will push for a tax exemption status from AOC. I’m all for college athletes being paid a perdium so they can focus on academics and it should be the same amount for every player and every university , not higher for QBs RBs and WRs. It’s a team sport. The beauty of college athletics is that is is played by student athletes that are amateurs !

But they also are agreeing to at least four years of service

Yes academy players already get paid, however with an endless amount of taxpayers dollars behind them, The Academy’s might be able to pay even more to athletes! Either way the system is broken! It would seem that we finally made progress getting a 12 team playoff and now many of the smaller schools will have to figure out a way to compete! I know the last two years have been tough but Troy has always found a way to compete at every level and I expect we will do the same again!
