How in the heck does "What if (The HC we don’t speak of) wins 10" even come up? Heâs already won 10.

Maybe someone decided that the Message Board needs a new Topic to punt around since The Rumor Mill is headed to the Caribbean for the winter??

A common argument seen on this board regarding (The HC we don’t speak of)'s Troy teams is that the team does not improve as the season goes on. I am not a coach and Hemi will tell you how much all of our opinions are worth... BUT, when I watch (The HC we don’t speak of)'s offense, I see an offense that does not practice basic fundamentals. Plus our quarterback stares down his receivers like they are sunbathing at Pace Hall. I love my Trojans, but if (The HC we don’t speak of) is here, we aint winning 10.

In all fairness, I was not the one that opened the box on the rumor ( not really a rumor if itâs true)

As I have stated, I believe itâs because CL does not know how to run an entire program. He is a QB Coach and when left to that specific job, I believe is a good one. 2. I disagree about our opinions. We can express our opinion in multiple ways. I will absolutely guarantee you if CL wins 4 games next year and they decide to keep him. It would take a simple campaign of fans and supporters, giving their OPINIONS in holy hell mode to Jack and Brent that would change their minds and force action.

The schedule is favorable. CL needs to have an Epiphany. But you never know, even a blind squirrel finds a nut. Yes I want to win. Ideally in this slim probability scenario happening, CL wins 10 games and leaves to coach somewhere else. Yes, need to talk about something else before I hibernate. And this is it

Sometimes one can teach, coach, instruct etc but the "student" is just not capable of hearing, learning or being taught. It appears that QB problem has been addressed for next season.

Letâs face it, if (The HC we don’t speak of) is our coach come Sept we will know in the first 4 games whether he has a chance for Staying or getting a different head coach job in 2022! The first game is a guarantee. Beating Liberty would be a solid win building momentum to beat Southern Miss and Compete with SC vying for an upset! If it doesnât go that way and we are 1-3 or 2-2 with a blow out loss we will all know that we will root hard for The Men of Troy for the remainder of the season and look forward to the announcement of a new coach!

We will be 1-9 going into The Battle for the Belt. The only win there is Southern. I love my Trojans, but I am also a realist. (The HC we don’t speak of) is not ready to be a D1 head coach.

Here are my predictions complete with commentary from (The HC we don’t speak of) apologists.
Southern- Win- "A win is a win." Liberty- Loss- "But, injuries..." So. Carolina- Loss- "So proud of these guys..." So. Miss- Loss- "But this is the first year of (The HC we don’t speak of)'s players starting!" Coastal- Loss- "Oh boy! I sure do love Coastal! A rising tide raises all ships!" Ga. State- Loss- "GaSt is such a good team, I'm so proud of Troy..." Ga. Southern- Loss- "We've always had problems with GaSo." App. State- Loss- "App is ranked, good for them!" ULL- Loss- "ULL is ranked, good for them. A rising tide, etc., etc." South AL- Loss- "We were bound to lose sooner or later, they have a new coach, and this is a really intense rivalry!" Texas St- Win- "A win is a win. I'm so proud of these guys. Looks like (The HC we don’t speak of) has something to build on for next year, it would be a shame to fire him now."
Post season: "We were only 103 points away from being 6-6! Let's don't give up on (The HC we don’t speak of) yet, we could win maybe 7 games next year!"

You've got to love that the godfathers of the Pessimist Posse are on here picking next year's game and they refuse to even mention the ULM game because it would be a win. Hahahaha. I'm as "glass half full" as anybody and I'm thinking we're 6-6. Isn't that bad enough? You have to go full PP and say we'll have 1 win going into the South game?

Results next year will be the same as this year. Defense will get better and the offense will not. Best scenario is to end this culture now. It pains me to say that but the results will be the same.

This is actually a fairly unique take for this board (given that you said you thought something would improve). Given that, I'm curious: putting all off the field rumors aside, does this mean you'd be happier heading into next season if (The HC we don’t speak of) made changes to the staff on the offensive side of the ball? Or is he simply too involved on that side of the ball for staff changes to make any difference?

Southern- Win Liberty- loss So. Carolina- loss So. Miss- Toss up Caoastal- Loss Ga, State- toss up Ga. Southern- toss up App. State loss ULL- loss South AL- toss up Best Case 6-6 Worst Case- 1-11 Southern - W Liberty - 50/50 @uscjr - W (that team is a dumpster fire) @so. Miss - 50/50 @coastal - L @gast - W GASO- W APST - L ULL - L South - W @ulm - W @txst - W I could easily see a scenario where 7 wins is easy but, the team will have to get up for each and every game. Some will call it an upset...I will simply call it a W in Columbia on October 2nd.

Here is what I think the problem is. (The HC we don’t speak of) Never took the job with a real plan to stay, invest time in the community, develop and win (My Opinion). I think his eyes were set on taking the job, winning for two seasons then bolt for a P5 job. NB was invested in every phase of football and you saw that during those times. Established a culture, himself and the staff were involved more in the community. The roster talent this season I think NB could def win the Sun Belt with. And the team that (The HC we don’t speak of) inherited was in position to do that, something had to have changed in culture or in the locker room in my opinion that led to Marcus Jones and Tyler Murray exit. Offensively the tempo is quick and can produce points. Winning at the G5 level it just takes more than just the highest rated recruiting class and winning. Coastal is not as talented at some positions as we are but they put together a special season and won and made big plays. I don't know what needs to be fixed in particular but it is something. And its the job of the HC to identify that.
